  1. Oh, boy, a toughie. I haven't really been here long enough. The top four mods listed are very difficult to choose from. I won't say who I voted for ... :whistling: I also understand that this may be seen as a popularity contest. I am glad actual Mods are not chosen this way, but inasmuch as we make up the constituency and "customer" base of this site, I presume our feedback is important ... or at least somewhat entertaining? Maybe with a gram of salt ... maybe? Definitely voted for Dezi as a potential new Mod.
  2. Voice acting is nice, but as mentioned, this can potentially limit flexibility and quantity. I also find it odd that the player's dialogue potential is even more limited. I had envisioned some mods with more verbalizing on the part of the player, but unless I am missing something, that is quite restricted.
  3. I can't vote for just one. I started out with a dual wielding mod, because I hate that Oblivion doesn't have true dual wielding, and I have this thing for it. Then I got into companions, which I loved, which, of course, led to new clothes and armor for companions. Of course, I had already downloaded bodh replacers. I also had to get new armor/weapons for my avatar. I then started downloading animation and housing/building mods. Loved them! This started to tax my system, so I got some system improvement and tweaking mods. I then got some houses that had quests and NPC's. Thought this was great, so I got into new towns, adventures, lands, races. I love all types, and if it weren't for the mods, I probably would have played Oblivion through a couple of times and put it aside.
  4. A clothing replacer takes the files in a mod and puts them in the folders where Oblivion looks to clothe "regular" NPC's, if you will. Take this mod for example - H cup Moving Medley Upperclass, (which is a great mod, in my opinion), it places new files in the original folders of the oblivion game, replacing the old files. Now for every NPC that would have been wearing Vanilla Item X (for example), it is now a modded piece of HGEC clothing. You could use this mod for a starter. Doing further replacement would require you to unpack BSA files and then manually change what files were in the respective mesh folders for all the clothing/armor items. This could be time-consuming, and please realize you are overwriting the existing file. This is not like a normal mod where you can turn off the .esp and then the changes go away. You will need to make back-ups of your original files (which is a good idea anyway). If you choose to explore the Construction Set (which is a great tool and not at all that difficult to at least gain beginner knowledge of), then you can make your own mod (.esp file) that changes the clothing on as many NPC's as you like. You simply open the NPC's file in the CS, change the clothes in their inventory (with new copies of the files from other mods), and then they will have the new look when you see them in-game.
  5. I don't know about the random part, but it is certainly possible to make them "appear" on people. This can be done via the Construction Set or with clothing replacers (both of which I have done). If you use a clothing replacer, it overwrites original files, thereby making all NPC's that would normally be in a piece of vanilla Oblivion clothing wear the new (HGEC) one. Using the Construction Set can allow you to make specific and individual changes to whatever NPC's you wish.
  6. I love the Shivdering Isles, but I also like things a bit weird. I love the layout and the concept with the two sides. I love Sheogorath's presence, personality, and story. As soon as I decided to give it a visit, I was hooked and did all of the quests before I returned. My only complaint was that it didnt seem to live up to its potential. I wanted to further explore the polarity, the politics between the two Houses, and I felt I should have gotten a bit more for taking the place of a Daedric Prince (perhaps a mod is in order ... ). Anyway, it may well be true that you have to be a bit "crazy" to enjoy the Shivering Isles, but then is that a "bad" thing?
  7. Nothing that is in the works to be released to the public, but I have modded quite a bit with my dangerous amount of limited knowledge. Mainly, I go in and "spice up" other mods (e.g. changing faces, hair, clothing). I have also made my own companions from custom races and savegame faces. I was working on something more elaborate, but the scripting caused me so much trouble, I have abandoned it. I have a couple of other ideas that I have done some preliminary write-ups on (one small, one HUGE), but I don't know if they will ever really see the light of day.

    Game music

I would say that World of Warcraft has some pretty good music in some places and during some Quests. I would expect as much due to their massive amounts of funds. My favorite, though, is the soundtrack to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.
  9. That convinces me to give an Honorable Mention to Evil Genius. I never played Dungeon Keeper, but Evil Genius was tons of fun and I really enjoyed the 60's-70's spy setting.
  10. I began with AD&D and finished with that. It had a profound effect on me, leading to my modifying it or designing outright new games based on the concepts and systems within AD&D. I never really played any other P&P RPG's. And then home computers and computer games began to take off (late 80's), and I drifted to those.
  11. 1. Oblivion 2. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines Those two games have captured my time and interest like no others.
  12. thanks. this disappoints me though, I wanted that one sexy companion to be a demon or chocolate elf. That would be hot. imo You can change the race of any companion using the Construction Set. I have added custom face and race companions using the tutorials listed in the readme within CM Partners. I have not tried it with Montana's sexy companion, though, but I would presume it can be done. Adding in a custom race is a bit trickier, but there is a link in the CM Partners readme to very detailed instructions. I used them to make a Golden Elf companion, so it is possible.
  13. Hahahah! Great story, Eshenaleros. I don't have a particularly funny kill to add, but I just wanted to express my humor at that one. I never even tried to keep the poor little arrogant guy alive. That seems as though it would be quite the challenge.
