Texture wise and land layout wise, I think that mania and dementia are pretty different from each other. Mania was sorta like fall, and a more hilly/mountainy feel. Dementia felt gloomy, I can't explain how, and was like a bog/marsh. But it would be great if mania and dementia recieved new unique skies and better ambient values. The city on the other hand (dam it would somebody please tell me the cities name - I keep on just calling it the city!! :teehee: :teehee: ) could use more work to get each part to feel different. Each half had pretty much the same layout and looked a lot more alike then Mania and Dementia. Same goes to the two courts. The fringe (last but not least) was always my most favorite area in oblivion. I think it was partially because of the butterflies in the beginning  . I personnaly think you should keep it as it is. That's just my 2 cents.

Oblivion Mod - Project Icarus

Sounds cool. Thanks. -
Cooooooooooool!! :woot: :woot: :woot:    :teehee: :teehee: :teehee: Why so dark though (why aren't you smiling lol)? But all hope is not lost..... Epic battle!!! Lots of special Effects!!! Clash of the Titans!! Scratch the last part. No but seriously. Atleast give the players some way to survive (or win) Or if you want to be morbid, atleast don't tell us that if you're going to play this mod, you're GOING TO DIE. Period. Leave it as a nice suprise.

Oblivion Mod - Project Icarus
Wolfhound646 replied to Dharus's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Sooo, if you do have a giant OMOD, that means that all the mods that can be used in that OMOD have to be downloaded. Buuut, what if we want to only use like half of them? That means we are going to have a lot of extra mods hanging around in our folders and taking up space. And with a mod package this big; thats going to be a lot of mods; ei; a lot of space  . I don't think an OMOD would be the best idea for the final package, but, for the mini-OMOD's, I think it'll be fine. I like your mod idea; keep it up. Were's that mod list? :teehee: (or am I blind) -
I don't understand why making a mod in one world space is harder - It's gonna be the same islands, you'll just be able to swim between each of the islands. Unless you want to do something like alivewaters. Today - sorry  lol  and i still can't see any link - is it me? am I blind? And about joining up with yamcakes, all I mean is what's the point of making new content if there's a couple of decent SI mods out there. I doubt that's going to be enough you're probs gonna have to make your own content too, though. P.S. Vagrant0 - how big are your world spaces in the colored rooms? is each one like cyrrodill? or is each one like a Dragon Age size area? In between? And right under your Vagrant0 picture, it says >link dead<. Don't know what it means, just in case you haven't noticed.

Erease Erease My bad I'm really dumn.

And the drawing is...... were? :whistling:   By the way, you and yamcakes should team up.

:P It wasn't a suggestion, it was a couple of questions for the modder (not me) on what he is planning to do with his mod. And... you just answered quite a few of the questions there. "Since the idea here is not to re-create the realm, but instead just to add to it, the new islands should not be just some lame re-hashing of the existing areas, but should be new places which are done in a similar style. " -That's what I'm hoping he is going to do; and I think a couple of my questions were about that. But, why keep it in the SI worldspace? Why not move it to another bigger one? Another idea - each island is connected by boat, but they are in acutal diff. world space, and the other islands you can see from the island you are on are simply fakes (i know there is a technical name for it). So when you activate the boat, you move to another worldspace/island with more fake islands on the horizon. I'm not a modder - don't yell at me

O!! Nice; lol. I'll be sure to try it out. But a warning about the javelin throwing. Somebody mentioned before that this was one of the "hardcoded" things in oblivion. Many of the best modders have tried to change that, none of them got it done. My suggestion would be to try to find a workaround.

 Give kudo. What kind of a name is that anyways? Kudo? lol -
You're gonna have to figure were every thing goes and stuff, before any heightmap. First you start with the most basic decision. How many islands? I'd say 4 would be your best bet - Mania, The Fringe, Dementia, and the city. Then you should just sort of sketch it out on a peace of paper. How will the Isles be positioned? Will they be connected in some way? Bridges? Boats? If not, will you have them on the same map, or on diff. maps? How big will they be in comparison to each other? Will you just focus on Mania and Dementia, keeping the Fringe and the city as they are? Write anything you can think of on the sketch - you know w/ arrows and stuff like that. Once your done, scan, upload, and ask us what we think. We are here by nature critics. :woot: :woot: :woot:

Elsweyr the Deserts of Anequina blocked?
Wolfhound646 replied to arntey's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
hmmmm. Exactly how would one go around organizing a petition? -
Truth be told, I've never heard of any Oblvion Re-animated. Maybe you are thinking of Fallout 3 Re-animated? I guess either way, that would be the place to ask.
-
Allright, first of I don't know the first thing about modding, I just have this idea in my head, and I want to know if anyone thinks this'll work. Basicly, my idea is that (for example) when you go down stairs, right when you hit the first step on the mesh, a going down stairs animation starts. Another example, and probably much easier, would be when you get to close to a wall, and say, you are running, you play the "throw hands so you don't hit the wall" animation. Now I am just asking if this particular part/idea of the mod is possible, so be nice and say yes or no. Feel free to be technical, I'll have no idea what you're saying, but I'm sure someone will.

NOOOOOOOO!!! :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: :nuke: You aren't serious are you? Maybe we should start a petition. How many of the best modders leave because of the community? Hmmmmmm... Maybe that's saying something about us. If it's true, I say we start a petition -
You wouldn't happen to understand Italian would you? EDIT: Nvm, forget I asked. EDIT # 2: This is really good one, and it uses QTP3 too, and best of all, almost no performance hit. I don't know if it's the best though, but it's very good w/out a doubt. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18497 Buuuuuuuut, if you do understand italian by any chance, or you are feeling adventurish, take a look at this topic. Just make sure you read the whole thing (except the mod list) before dwnlding anything. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=193791

Wrong link there bben46  You're looking for this; I think: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6914 That should be the right link.

i dont know. I wouldn't say it's exactly empty. I'm pretty sure it's not even randomly generated, or whatever you call it, like cyrodill. It's def. unique. But you are right, it is empty in its own way; but thats probably because it's so small. In other words, there is just the right amount of settlements and dungeons on the continent for it's size. But that amount is not that big. i think you'd have to make the continent itself bigger before you add any dungeons or settlements. It would definetly not be a Unique Landscape for SI though. A better name would be Shivering Isles Expanded. I know I saw a thread earlier complaining that although the name has isles in it, its only one landmass. So probs your best bet would be to make island OR splitting the island in two (or 3(for the beggining part(i dont remember the name)) or 4 (the city too)) and making each part bigger. Yeah I like that last idea the best, that'd probably be your best bet.

If you think this is good, check out this. Nice try. ??

One Mod to end Them All
Wolfhound646 replied to Wolfhound646's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
Um.... I'm not trying to do anything. Remember, this isn't my mod, it's made by an italian guy (forgot his name again) - Truth be told, I'm really not sure that he even realised that he was supposed to ask other modders permission for using their mod for this package. On the other hand, theres a good chance he did know, and that he did ask, and he got the permission, because I see no reason why any of these mod creators should have refused. You say "Major compilations like this have been attempted before". I've never heard of any. Which ones are you talking about? Nosibab: Although the mod's definetly not at this stage yet, eventually, I am sure you will be able to pick out the ones you want. And what your saying about maitenance issues - well, that's the whole point of the mod isn't it? That instead of having us do all the hard work making the mods work together, he does the hard work for us, and we get the finished product. Also, in his intro, he does say that he is going to try to keep this mod as close to the oblivion lore as possible. I don't know lol, I seem to be blabbering here. I'm going to update his complete mod list now, and hopefully you'll get my point by looking at the actual mods he is going to use. Rifler: Well at the end of my comment, I state that "i'm cutting the list of here because it's very long." The means that theres actually a lot more mods in the final package :P And what in the hell are you trying to say in your second paragraph? Lol. Miriads? " I'm playing without music, ever had, ever will."? I'm guessing you mean never had, never will? None of the mods on the list add an mp3 player to oblivion (and yes, I do know what you are talking about). Don't worry, we all make stupid typos. :whistling: fingolduin: Yes! That's exactly what this is. It gives people the mods that edit the vanilla oblivion - so that you don't have to waste your time on that, and instead you can go dive deep into oblivion's quest mods! I think I'm going to quote you in my new and revised intro  -
One Mod to end Them All
Wolfhound646 replied to Wolfhound646's topic in Oblivion's Classic Discussion
nosisab: Of course you're completely right, I did not make myself clear. This package does not add anything to the game. It only edits whats already there. In other words, it's not a giant quest mod package. I did over exagerate a lot in a way, but this is still a very big thing. Think of how much mods you have active in your mod folder that edit the vanilla content. If you want go to the site, the mod names are in English, you'll see what I'm talking about. EDIT: Well it does have mods like UL, and Better Cities, and FCOM, but I think thats it. -
