Sorry for necroing this but I was having the same issue and was able to fix it. I thought I would leave this post for anyone else who may have it too. I was using make nearly anyone a follower mod and randomly NCPs I made followers were breaking, found out it was due to the real names mod. Big thank you to the everyone that mentioned Jaxons Renamer as this lead me to figure it out. I was able to rename them with the renamer and that seemed to work. I guess citizens of Skyrim don't like having there name changed....

To my knowledge this is not a new bug but I am struggling to find a solution. I have been working on a mod that is tweaking NPC faces and giving them new hairstyles to make the world more diverse. I am pretty far into making the mod and I noticed lip colors go away and eye socket colors appear on the forehead. At first, it didn't bother me that my NPCs were makeup-less but now playing in game with it is making it kind of annoying. The only solution I found was temporarily removing the face gen data folder (maybe it was a different one) and then putting it back after changing hair styles, but like I said, I have already done most of the NPCs so doing that would mean starting over. In addition, I would like the option to change makeup on some NPCs. I am assuming there is some solution to this problem because there are many mods that change NPC appearance and have makeup on them. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

I have been using the creation kit to edit NPCs in Skyrim giving them new hair obtained from mods and tweaking faces/bodies as I see fit for personal use. However I have ran into a problem. Each time I make a new mod (been doing it by city/village) I test it by making a new character. However Sybille Stentor's face is suffering from grey face glitch. On the new character test she is fine. But on my main she is all gray faced... I have exported her face gen data and all the other NPCs face gen. Every other NPC looks great but she remains a problem. My only guess it has to do with her being a vampire? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
