Ever since I heard that Skyrim would have a marriage component to it, I have been looking forward to the day where a modders would make a companion or NPC that would have a meaningful line of quests that would eventually lead into marriage rather than the player just presenting them with an amulet and a suggestion. It has been something like 3 years with three expansion packs and nothing like that has come to surface. Therefore, I propose that someone make a mod taking everyones favorite Housekarl, Lydia, and revamps her with a new voice, new, more unique appearance, and a questline which could, if the player so chooses, lead to romance and marriage. I believe Lydia is the best candidate for this treatment because I have always felt a special connection between her and my (admittedly rather vanilla) male Nord warrior who I always roll as my main save file. You meat her earlier on in the main quest, which means that progress in her modded questline could be tied to how far you progress against Alduin. Her combat skills are balanced, which means you can adapt her for a variety of rolls, even giving her some moderately powerful spells for healing or offense. Finally, her Nord heritage connects her to the setting of the game, which makes her a perfect "primary" choice for marriage in a game called Skyrim. In Oblivion, I love the trashy romance plot with the Viconia De Vir companion. I still remember sitting at my computer, making my character wait day after day for two months to advance her plot so that I could lick the sweat off of her chest without being rebuffed (that was an actual option). I have yet to see a companion as engaging in Skyrim, despite its marriage and child mechanics and I feel that that is a waste that could be solved by this mod I am proposing.   2. I have tried Francisco's, which did not work and I have tried the new DLL make your own patch thing which also did not work. Does anyone know of a good mod which does nothing but make the creature types encountered non-leveled in both type (skeloton vs Champion Skeleton) and equipment (Freaking Deadric Bandits everywhere)?
  3. I have seen it, its seems to be doing rather well! However, I was thinking more along the lines of owning one of those great big houses in the center.
  4. How many of us have wanted to live the life of a rich high class noble and live in one of the big mansions int he middle of the Talos Plaza district? How many of us wanted to have our own studio apartment above a shop in the bustling market district, or perhaps a normal townhouse in the Eleven Gardens district? Alas, these hopes are shattered, thanks to the lack of forethought on behalf of Bethesda (still love you). So I ask, why not do what people have always done since the dawn of Bethesda and right their wrongs for them? The houses need not be fancy, really they can look completely generic with no added on extra models or features, besides maybe a servant or two in the Talos Plaza mansion? In fact, I implore mod makers to not get to fancy, as they tend to get carried away and next thing you know you have a waterfront district home with a totally out of nowhere trapdoor leading to a generic cave filled with water in what the author describes as a "hotspring" with scantily clad females glitching out because I had the audacity not to install whatever Big Bouncing Breast and Impractical Battle Underpants mod is poplar of late and the author seemed to have omitted them! Anyway, I am getting ahead of myself. The point is, in the interest of immersion there should be no inexpiable buttons or levers (especially buttons, I hate buttons), no random enchanting and spell making armor (it is only for the Mages guild), a sparring use of display cases (no entire rooms dedicated to showing off all of your armor and weapons), no inexplicable armory or smithy (the market district is literally a short walk through the palace greens away), basically nothing that one would not expect to see in a typical upper/middle/lower class Imperial City home. The mod would not even be that hard to impalement with other mods. Really all you have to do would be to take out a non essential NPC (or in the case of shop keeps renting out apartments, move where they sleep or alter the cell to make room for you) like that dark elf couple who live across from the Tiber Septim Hotel at Talos Plaza. I think this is a good, easy, and clean way to address the current housing crisis facing Cyrodil. Hell, I think I could do it myself if I had time to learn how to use the Construction Kit. Please, veteran mod-men/women, weigh in on what you think.
  5. The reason I use OBMM is because it know how to use it and I do not believe that the Nexus Manager works for the older mods not specially tailored to it.
  6. I keep getting messages that some files having to do with the mod manager are corrupt. Upon trying to launch the game, it crashed on start up. I had just installed many mods and so assumed that something was conflicting, but upon deactivating everything except the main oblivion file the game still did not work even after launching the game from steam, not the manager. I also notice that the mod manager says that it will not open because it is already open when it is not and overall feels rather sluggish compared to when i last used it (a long time ago). It also never had any corruption problems last time used it. What happened?
