  1. I had this idea for a long time and thought someone would have made it by now. I used to host tabletop GM sessions where players with high enough level would try to destroy the world out of boredom, which made me respond with heavy resistance. Typically, when a player started killing people, I'd send regular soldiers first as an initial wave then reinforcements would come as stronger more elite soldiers until the city sent their bests like mages, priests. Other times I sent mobs of civilians with pitchforks to rush them. Or summoned monsters or automatons like golems. When they went after lords, I'd have royal guards stepping in and have the lords be evacuated and on the run. When things got desperate, mages made pacts with demons and they would invade the city to stop the player. But with bad consequences if they succeed. The whole idea is that when a city was fighting for its life, they will pull any resource possible to save itself even if it meant dire consequences. This included setting up traps, ambushes, even bringing down entire buildings to stop the players. And if a powerful deity really wanted to protect its followers, they would send avatars or miracles after them. I was wondering if this idea piqued anyone's interest enough to make it
  2. Hi, so I got bored of theft, archer, melee, and magic and I've been trying to find a new way to play skyrim that doesn't involve any of that. I was trying to find ways to make NPCs fight each other instead of me which is a tough task to do. Was wondering if anyone would be interested in that. I want to avoid using martial skills as possible, including illusion if I can help it. So the rules would be; 1. Speechcraft to talk myself out of being attacked by bandits 2. or Speechcraft, to talk the bandits into fight each other. 3. Lead bandits into traps to which will kill them. 4. Make archers friendly fire at their own and make them mad at each other. 5. Make town guards fight aggro'd NPCs. 6. Cause other NPCs to fight enemies who are fighting me (including dragons) 7. If possible, lead NPCs into physics glitches (ribcages?) so they trip and die. 8. Shouts being an exception, mostly because can't defeat Alduin with clearsky or get to Paarthunax. With this gameplay having personal restrictions. 1. No armor to raise no skills for melee classes. 2. No stealth to raise no stealth skills 3. No weapons, because you're instigating and not fighting. 4. Limited illusion use, mostly because in case its too hard to get enemies killed without some other method. 5. Otherwise no magic use to raise no magic skills. It's all about making others fight each other or tricking something into death. Are there any mods to help me do that?
  3. After playing through Deadly Dragons with everything maxed, I watched whiterun in horror as it got massacred by rampaging powerful dragons and I thought, How would a gameplay overhaul be if Skyrim was empty? I've seen some mods of it already. But I've always wanted one with a story to it. Like Alduin won, destroying all of man and mer civilizations. But monsters and wildlife still roam freely. And this one guy emerges in this lifeless world trying to survive. So cities like Whiterun would be destroyed with only stone left and burnt rubble. Skeletons everywhere. But a story component to it, like notes and ghost visions, describing what every city did, trying to survive in a world rampaged by dragons. What did the companions do? The jarls? Run? Hide? Migrate? What happened to the Greybeards? Paarthurnax? The Blades? The Thalmor? I would personally like to see it all snow, no grass, no trees. Just snow, rocks, and buildings. On the survival side of things, gold would have no use. You'd have to craft everything, break everything down. Scavenge for parts. Etc. Probably do cave and dungeon runs just to get things, as these wouldn't be affected. The random encounters would have to remove all men and mer, but maybe have a handful of single lone survivors who have something to say. A lone khajiit, looking for food. A freezing argonian who witnessed the last stronghold falling. -Empty Skyrim -Towns and Cities in ruins, bodies everywhere -Snow and rocks only. No grass? No trees? -Monsters and wildlife roaming freely. Maybe. -Player emerging into a lifeless world -Each city has a story on how they faced the end -Told through notes and ghost visions -Survival mods would be great here. -Craft heavy. -Lone survivors with personal stories.
  4. Hi. I've been craving a proper hunting mod for awhile but animals are too easy to hunt. As an outbacker by racial heritage and culture, i know for a fact that animals are alot smarter and more perceptive than what skyrim delivers. Even a simple rabbit is hard to hunt IRL unless you know what you're doing. After all the hunting mods out there, the only thing i would suggest is an AI mod that increases their perception incredibly (even just popping yuur head out can cause deer to run) and fleeing upon perception for like a mile. Plus deer are fast runners. They need to torpedo out of there. Almost all animals would flee upon hearing the first shot hit or miss and definitely run for miles if one of their comrades are killed. Not sure if its possible doing this but would greatly appreciate it.

  6. My wishlist 1. No Hand-held Dungeons - I really dislike the handholding thing with dungeons. Only one direction. No side-trekking. Daggerfall dungeons were notorious for getting lost. I loved it. 2. More Natural Caves - Seems like a no-brainer to some. But it terms of realism, it's a major pet peeve. The only caves I have seem with flat grounds were man-made ones. Real caves are not flat grounded. They slant, curve, ridge like crazy. Navigation in them is dangerous. 3. Climbing, Crawling - Whatever happened to Daggerfall's Climbing? I always wanted to explore on top of rooftops, castle walls, climb mountains, and cliffsides. Exploration made climbing fun (and dangerous). Same with crawling. It would be more realistic to crawl through waterways, ventilations, cave cracks (even for miles with only a dagger for defense). And crawling isn't always perfectly horizontal either. 4. Camping and Venturing Gear - Some of the camping mods are straight out fun, though it can become tedious to menu surfing out your stuff. Needs a one button solution of some sort; then a way to customize. Plus climbing gear. Grapple and rope! Can be used as weaponry also. 5. Mud and Weeds - Now if you want realism, know that weedy areas have a lot of mud in them and slows travel quite a bit. That's black earth that is wet, or clay mixed in. Marshes can soak up boots and slow walking to a crawl. You might even sink up to your chest getting across, like quick sand. 6. Bush, Brushels, and Small Trees - What makes forest ventures irritating (and real) is the endless amount of bush and brushels along the edges of forests. It's a pain to walk through because you have to move every branch away from your face and step around the small trees. Can barely see anything and makes ambushes easier. 7. Proper Khajiits / Argonians - I was never a fan of Skyrim Khajiits and Argonians. I liked the Morrowind versions because of their unique forms. The walking animations are atrocious, and can be improved. Google: "D20 Rakshasa" and "D20 Lizardmen" and you'll see what I'm talking about. So much more cooler than TES's version. 8. Khajiit / Dwemer Storyline - I always had a fascination with Khajiits and Dwemers. They seem like polar opposites in terms of worlds and would be so interesting to see in the same story. A sudden remergence of Dwemers with all their tech into the Khajiit Tribal Deserts right in the midst of war. Now that would be like blasted by culture shock. Thrown into a new world.
  7. The only work is back breaking work... ...everything else is sloth.
  8. Players can stealth and backstab. Why can't NPCs? Should make a mod that allows NPCs to do that.
  9. Finally reached a really high level (after 744 hours of restarts) where monsters are maxed at 50. The game really could use more epic level content like: - Epic World Monsters (Giant Giants at level 250) - Epic Skills (to Max of 255?) - Epic Dragonborn Level (Level 255?) - Epic Hordes (80 skeevers, 40 Bandits at a time, or 5 Dragons) - Epic Sized Dungeons (like x10 the size for NPC follower parties) - Epic Battles (so Solo'ing is no longer an option. Parties of 5 NPCs needed) - Epic Traps (Ones large enough to wipe out a whole party in one strike) - Epic Gear (Legendary Skyforged Ebony Weapons! Titan Steel! Adamantium!) - Epic Investments (Town defense against massive raids and dragons?) - Epic Item Quests (10 quests for full epic gear) All these at once would greatly extend the game.
  10. Just got hit by this idea. Why not have an export character feature and a place to post your character online? That way someone can download other ppl's characters and fight them in an arena. This is probably for high level content maybe, but it would be interesting to see how people's builds hold up. One can even fight themselves in battle.
  11. Heyall, I hardly post here. Just wanted to give a run-down on realism content and how its actually like living there. This info is for people curious and modders who are hardcore about realism. Truth is... realism in sub-arctic / arctic regions sucks. Food is scarce. Conditions are harsh. It's never comfortable. Always cold. Its wet a lot (if not frozen) And death is around the corner if there's just one mistake. TRAVEL I like Skyrim. It feels liberating to explore in. The truth about it is that, life is not so freeroaming as one might think. Sure there's a way to travel in every direction, but the environment is naturally hampering. It's not about the trees though, it's the bush. If you try crossing it, branches will slap and cut your face. Gotta slow down and move each branch to get across 'em. It's also not easy to see through. Bushes are thick and mostly at the edges of forests and rivers (fighting for sunshine). It's like trying to walk through a crowd of people with their arms out. The land is also never even. If you try running it at full speed, a simple angular misstep will sprain or twist your ankle. And if you fall on rock, you might smash your face or break something. I had a brother break his leg because his leg twisted as he slipped. He didn't even know it was broken until he went to the doctor's. Plus, there's random pot holes and water in marsh regions. Get a soaker and it hampers your movement, makes walking uncomfortable, and probably get a frostbite if it gets too cold. Gotta stay dry, even from your own sweat. Also, you gotta take care of your feet when you travel. Once you get a blister, it gets painful to walk on until it heals. If you travel everyday, you'll get plenty until your feet gets used to it. A simple cut affects how far you travel. Infections are worse, and the pain of trying is just agonizing after hours. Snow sucks to walk in. It's thick and deep and if you aren't in good clothes, it gets everywhere and melts from your heat. Walking is like 1mph and is pretty demanding on your muscles (even worse with 30lbs of gear on your back). Snow shoes are more useful when traveling the snow. But it puts strain on new kinds of muscles. Dog teams are even better, but you have to feed them a lot when you travel. Plus you gotta know how to take care of them. In the summer time, there's bugs everywhere. They're nosey, irritating, annoying, and sometimes disturbing to look at. Mosquitoes bite. Same with black flies. Sand flies are the worst because they leave big spots on you. Horse flies (we call them) are like really angry house flies. Then you got cobwebs with different spiders. Some may be poisonous. Millipedes. Beatles of different sizes, some might be aggressive. Ticks. And other crap that might find you to be a meal. SLEEP Sleeping, itself, is a painful chore as well. Gotta set up camp at a place where you think will be a dry area. If you camp on top of snow, make sure there's a lot of blankets and water resistant flaps in between. Otherwise you're gonna get wet. Plus if you make a fire, you gotta wake up every hour or two just to put wood in the fire so it doesn't burn out. It's hard to get a good night's rest in the cold regions. Plus if you want to build something that will block the cold icy winds (other than a tent), you gotta hunt and cut down branches long enough and bundle them up into a wall or hut which is a lot of work in itself. FOOD Food in subarctic regions is scarce. Barely anything to hunt unless you get lucky and find a herd of Caribou to stalk down. Even then, unless you have a sniper rifle that can fire from miles away, hunting intelligent animals with very good senses is hard, because you gotta defeat their senses and get within 50 feet to have a kill range with medieval bows.... and if your shot misses a kill point... your animal is going running for miles... and you won't know if he dies unless you track him for miles... and you won't if wolves got to it before you did unless you get there first... and you won't be able to carry all the meat home unless you have some sort of truck and a way to hide the smell from scavengers (bury it in snow by the way). But if its in the summer time, you gotta chase away all these bugs that want to lay eggs in it, vultures and ravens that are waiting for you to turn your back. Plus you have to gut the animals, lots of blood to spill out its innards; intestines, liver, kidneys, lungs, heart, just to get at the good meat. And It's a really really red, messy, graphic, bloody job. Plus the smell..... If you carry your own food, its best to carry dry goods. Anything wet makes food heavier. Dry meats. Dry breads. Dry fruits. Etc. And when you travel, you gotta know the water sources, because one day in the wrong direction with no source of water replenishment is a killer. Also, unless you know your plant life, eating the wrong kind of plant can poison you or at least give you stomach aches. Most plant life is inedible to humans which makes it hard living there. COMBAT Animals aren't dumb when it comes to fighting and hunting. They are cautious and nervous. Wolves back away from swings. They don't want to be struck by a weapon. They will circle around. They judge you. Gauge you. Wondering if they can take you down. They don't always think as a pack though. You scare one, you scare many. And they're not the best opportunists either. But if you make a mistake and give them an opportunity, they will swarm you with bone crushing bites. And they don't just bite and let go. They bite and wrestle you to the ground. Bite your arms so you can't attack. Bite your legs so you can't run. And if somehow you get the upper hand again... they back off and wait for another mistake. That's just wolves. Bears and big cats fight a bit different. Best way to describe combat like this is a cautious hit-and-run, keeping out of melee range until they're ready to attack. Plus, if you get hit (even once), it's painful to apply pressure or weight on and you are at risk of infection (even in the cold). Wolves may have rabies. Bears? Who knows. Caribou and Moose might have wood ticks on them and they are gross to look at it and dangerous to have latch on you. They get big and fat and full of blood when they do. Having a wound or getting infected by anything out there is a serious drain on your energy. And you get worried how far you can go, who will be able to help, where you can go for the night, if you have the energy to set up camp, hunt, fetch water. SUMMARY This is just a glimpse of life in the region with only some info on how to live. It's not for the faint of heart and not for people who give up so easily when they get tired or sore. Because that's what's going to happen when you travel those lands. Fatigue. Painfully sore muscles, but after awhile, you get used to it. With that in mind, I find it odd to go on some random side-trek when someone gives you a quest after a full day of lugging around your belongings.
  12. Hihi. I request a mod where the only leveling capable is through paid training. I normally don't even notice skills leveling and don't like the feeling of grinding. I just want to jump in... attack things... grab loot... sell.. and repeat. So when I have enough money, I'll worry about leveling then.
  13. I would like to see something like this done. Skyrim played with isometric perspective support. Stuff like wall and ceiling fading would need to be done so the camera wont bump into them. Plus, camera support so U can run left / right without strafing or moving the camera. Y'know... kinda like DS3 / Torchlight / Any other ISO game. Plus, for people with low spec comps, it would be a lot easier me thinks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFQeQbgRFrE
  14. That would be interesting to do. Hard too. Save only at home and rest points. Turning off all auto saves. Set player character to the essential kneel stance permanently upon defeated or something.
  15. This is something quick I threw together. This just shows how some would-be film makers can use Skyrim for Machinima. Now, if there was only mod support... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCAEA2aHm6Q
