  1. Are there any simple, clear guides for setting up functional LOD in a custom worldspace? I tried looking here but couldn't make sense of a lot of the technical info. All the info there seems to be geared towards making LOD for a massive worldspace too. All I'm trying to do is get it working for a pretty basic area with not a whole lot of fancy work put into it (maybe a dozen-odd cells at most).
  2. Problem's been sorted out. Thanks. (Replied to my own post like a derp, ignore that)
  3. In one of my quest mods, I made a bunch of edits to one of the abandoned apartment buildings outside Westside. Turns out, it conflicts with another mod, The North Road. Is it possible to simply delete the offending edits using FNVEdit without breaking anything in the process?
  4. I'm experiencing persistent, constant crashing problems that are making the game next to unplayable. The game frequently CTDs in combat or if *anything* at all is happening in-game. It also seems to crash about 50% of the time when transitioning between areas. Suffice to say, it's extremely, mindbogglingly frustrating. I have the muticore CPU fix, Fallout 3 Anti-Crash and the Fallout 3 Stutter Remover. Are any of these incompatible with Windows 10? Otherwise, I honestly have no idea. EDIT: It seems that one of the "performance" mods I was using was causing this problem. Ignore this.
  5. I've been trying to set up a really simple custom radio station in New Vegas. Everything's set up properly in the GECK (as far as I can tell) but nothing's playing over the radio in the game. It's showing up in the pip-boy and can be toggled on and off, but nothing's playing. I tried everything from re-formating audio files to checking everything over in the GECK to make sure I didn't mess anything up (I copied the basic set-up of the radio quest from the DETH 98.1 station from New California). Still no luck. I can go into details about how I set the station up for anyone who wants to help out. (Figured I wouldn't just post it all here in case I ended up confusing the crap out of someone)
  6. Looking for voice actors for a quest mod called "Alien Exterminator". There's 3 characters I need voiced: -Col. Danvers (Male): Quest-giver type NPC. -Rip Rowsdower (Male): A supporting character who shows up in a couple of missions. -Dr. Carter (Female): Scientist who gives the player equipment and hands out a quest or two. PM me if interested. I've also set up a Casting Call page, if anyone cares: https://www.castingcall.club/projects/fallout-nv-alien-exterminator EDIT: Voice actors found.
  7. Anyone know of a fix for the aliens (the ones from Mothership Zeta) constantly crashing the game? As far as I can tell it's some kind of animation/skeleton bug, but I don't have the skills to figure out how to fix it. Based on some of my own experimentation, I've found that having 4-5 of them together in the same small area will cause the game to crash in about 30 seconds. This seems to only apply when they're in combat though, they seem to work fine when they're not in combat and just walking around idle. I'm currently working on a quest mod where they show up quite frequently, and while I was able to compensate for the constant crashing by reducing the amount of aliens that show up at once, I've still gotten quite a few random crashes while playtesting it. I've seen this problem come up in a few other mods I've played, so it isn't anything new. The only potential fix I've heard of is to directly import the alien skeleton from Fallout 3, which is out of the question, since that'd technically be considered piracy. If no one knows of a fix, no big deal. I know there's a resource mod on the NV nexus that has "humanoid aliens" (aliens rigged to the human skeleton) which I could probably use anyway if it came down to it.
  8. I think that it's because, like the aliens from Mothership Zeta, it's generally not considered "traditional" Fallout material since it doesn't really fit in with the gritty post-apocalyptic/survival setting. Although, the original Fallouts had talking plants, psykers, crashed UFOs, and a sentient toaster (if you count cut content from Fallout 2). For what it's worth, I was actually playing around with using some of the Dunwich Building stuff in a quest mod, although it's questionable whether that'll actually get made into anything decent that will be released at some point. By the way, if you want more creepy Lovecraftian goodness, you should check out the Fallout 3 fanfic "Aqua Vitae" (it should pop up pretty easily on Google). It's got a few chapters set in Point Lookout that are basically jam-packed with all the creepy Lovecraft-inspired elements you could possibly cram in there. It's pretty well-written, too.
  9. I believe I found a fix. I went looking around in the Windows control panel and found an option labeled "Stereo Mix (Realtek Audio)" (I have no idea what it does) under input options, and enabled it. That annoying error popup in the GECK is gone now. It doesn't seem to have done anything besides make the GECK shut up about the sound driver. Oh and btw, plugging headphones into the microphone port did nothing (Windows 10 tends to be insanely fussy about any external hardware you've got plugged in, so that's no surprise). Just figured I'd leave this here for anyone else experiencing that error message -- "Stereo Mix (Realtek Audio)" was located under Control Panel \ System \ Sound \ Input \ Device Properties. There should be a drop-down box in the Device Properties window that lets you enable it. No idea if every computer has that option (mine's a Dell) but at least it appears to have worked for me :/
  10. Unfortunately I don't have a microphone or anything to plug into the microphone port. Not a big problem anyway, since getting rid of that error message is mostly just a matter of annoyance (everything works fine, but I'm getting sick of clicking that thing off every time I open a window). I only started getting that error message after I switched to a new PC with Windows 10, it never came up once on my old rig and I never had anything plugged into the microphone port back then. I'm willing to just let it go if it boils down to "Windows 10 problems" as usual. It's just a harmless error message after all.
  11. I keep getting an error message saying "Error: No sound driver available for use" every time I open the dialogue window in a quest. Best info I could find seems to imply that this has nothing to do with the GECK itself and that it's something to do with the sound/audio driver not working correctly. Note that I also have Fallout NV installed on drive D, so maybe it isn't recognizing the audio driver because it's not on that drive? Just figured I'd post about it on here first before I go re-installing Fallout NV and the GECK on drive C to see if that works. A screenshot of the error message https://i.imgur.com/rHzBIwu.jpg
  12. I've had this quest mod titled "Alien Exterminator" sitting on the back-burner for a few weeks now, and I have absolutely no idea what to do with the damn thing. As of now, it's probably about 20-30% done. Basic premise is that you (the player character) are working for a government agency that tracks down and eliminates extraterrestrial threats. It'd follow the typical "bounty hunting" quest format (which I assume everyone is completely fed up with at this point) where there'd be an NPC that hands out quests (such as clearing out alien squatters from abandoned houses or investigating an alien-occupied lab). It'd also feature the standard assortment of alien weaponry (recycled from leftovers from Mothership Zeta) at least one piece of armor, and other crap. Here's a handful of random screenshots: https://i.imgur.com/x0zBpIt.jpg https://i.imgur.com/X4fpM2v.jpg https://i.imgur.com/gdOR5As.jpg Is anyone interested in seeing this thing get finished? Not sure whether to keep working on it or shelve it indefinitely and maybe focus efforts on something better.
  13. Looking for voice actors for a quest mod I'm working on. Not asking for much, just a decent microphone and maybe some past voice acting experience. Right now, there's only two characters i need voiced: Terry - Male, probably mid-20s. Wasteland explorer/adventurer. Skullz Gang leader (unnamed) - Male, late 20s-early 30s. Leader of a wannabe "raider gang" that is encountered at one point in the mod. Terry has the most lines by far -- probably about 140-odd lines as far as I know. The Skullz leader only has a handful of lines, as he's only a minor character. Screenshots of both of them here: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/images/106141/ Send me a PM if interested.
  14. Just wondering, would it be okay to use the stuff that was originally modder's resources in a mod, as long as I credit him for his work? That was the part I wasn't quite sure about.
  15. Just wondering if anyone on here knows why all of Andersh's mods got taken down? I wanted to use the diving suit that he made in a quest mod I'm working on, but I have no idea if they're "safe to use" so to speak. The original file was called "Wasteland Gear Modder's Resource". There are still a few mods on the Fallout 3 nexus that use his models, like this: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21441 and this: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/8384 Given that I have no idea why they were removed, I don't really want to use anything from them unless I can be sure there wasn't anything "nasty" going on (ripped/ported models etc). Just hoping someone can clear this up.
  16. I was essentially trying to convert a piece of armor into a static/clutter object that can be placed in a cell in the GECK. Sorry for not making that very clear.
  17. Ran into a little problem while working on a little "for fun" project lately. Basically I was trying to get the t-51b helmet and attach it onto another model in NifSkope. Now I've known for quite a while that you can't just copy/paste armor pieces onto anything other than another piece of armor, or you'll get missing bone errors, so I enede up trying a couple of diiferent methods that unfortunately didn't work (both crashed the Geck upon trying to load it). Does anyone know how to do this properly? Sorry for being absolutely clueless. :whistling:
  18. I've been trying to remove Honest Hearts and Gun Runner's Arsenal from a quest mod I'm working on, but with no luck. It seems that whenever I try to remove HonestHearts.esm and GunRunnersArsenal.esm from the mod's master list using FNVEdit (following a tutorial I found via a Google search), it ends up disabling all DLC content used in the mod so far. Note that the other files still show up in the master list, but for some reason all DLC objects are gone from the mod's cells. If anyone knows how to properly do this without screwing up your mod in the proccess, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
  19. I've also had this issue a couple of times while screwing around with nifskope. As far as I know, It won't let you scale or re-position armor pieces normally for some reason, and they always end up reverting back to their default positions when the game tries to load the model. The only way I've found to do it is to use the "scale vertices" tool and scale/re-position pieces that way (kind of limited, but it works). Otherwise, the only other option would be editing it in blender or something similar (could never get blender to work on my system so I can't really offer any advice there). Anyway, hope that helps
  20. Just deleted those .NAM files and my GECK is no longer force-loading the DLCs. Always wondered what those files were for but never bothered to find out. Thanks for the help.
  21. I've got this annoying little problem with the Fallout NV GECK where it always seems to have all of your DLCs (Master Files) selected by default when it starts up. This means that I'm having to constantly check off all the DLCs from the file list before loading anything else; At least a couple of times I've forgotten to do this and only found out a while later that the mod I was working on suddenly requires all the DLCs I have. I know that this problem is probably something that affects almost everyone's GECK, but does anyone know of a way to get rid of it?
