Well the problem seems to be fixed. Had to go offline for a couple days while redoing everything. Problem was I had damage to windows 7 OS from a previous virus, so when I upgraded there were missing windows files that were not upgraded, then when I reverted back to win7 everything went kablooey. Had to reinstall win7 then did the upgrade to win10. About to start downloading my previous mods and install them one at a time to make sure everything stays copacetic. Thanks again to everyone for the advice.

I did the upgrade instead of a clean install. I had been warned ahead of time about windows 10 not being optimized for games, but my curiosity got the better of me. Now, after reverting back to Windows 7 I'm having problems with my network adapter and my video driver is crashing with Flash. NVIDIA GeForce 9800. A friend suggested my problems are virus related. Will uninstall everything Skyrim related and start over after running a virus scan. Going to try updating all drivers. One problem I was having that kind of led up to this meltdown was different quests were not progressing. Karliah would not open the gate in Theives' Guild quest. King in Rags would not talk to the prisoners in Cidhna mine to trigger the escape in Forsworn quest. Elenwen would not dialogue with Malborn in Diplomatic Immunity quest... I used console "setstage" a few times to progress, but I think that was just masking the problem that was growing. Thanks for the advice, pretty much confirming what I had dreaded was going to be my solution.

I recently upgraded to Windows 10, it completely messed up Skyrim so I reverted back to Windows 7. Uninstalled Skyrim, reinstalled, disabled all mods, uninstalled again, reinstalled again. Started a new game, have no sound. Clicked to enable subtitles which do not appear. On screen meassages do not appear. New game starts with player character sitting in wagon driver's chair, no prisoners in either cart, gates to Helgen do not open, horses and carts just bang up against the gate until they flip over... Had to reinstall FNIS just to get player character back in cart. Do I uninstall NMM and all mods, delete all Skyrim content from system and start all over? At my wits end. Game worked fine until I upgraded to Windows 10, system meets or exceeds all reqs to play game. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks.

Not sure if this is a FAQ, but I had a virus related system meltdown which caused me to have to reinstall windows, along with everything else. Now none of my mods are installing when I use NMM, I click, it says mods was successfully added, but the effects of the mods aren't installing. Clear water, CBBE, FNiS... Have Legendary Edition, reinstalled Skyrim again, deleted local files from system, still no mods. Is there something I didn't do? I work a lot, so if I don't reply immediately to anyone, don't think I'm ignoring.
