  1. Suggestions? I've not read all reviews here, and apologize in advance if I'm repeating what someone else said, but at times I'd really like to have Cerwiden "be quiet." She talks through game dialog when other important NPCs are describing a quest for me and her script and voice overrides theirs. Quite annoying! I even turn down the volume of my speakers just to have a few moments of not hearing her repetitive monologue. Adding an option to adjust or turn off the amount Ceri speaks is desirable. But as a companion, she is much more invaluable than pesky, so I'll keep her in any case. Thanks for the mod! (And the desire to improve on it.)
  2. nofear88: No answers here, but similar problems. Ancano supposedly stole the eye of Magnus and now he's idly standing (more like skulking) in an empty wizard's hall. Locations of quests completed early on aren't now recognized for fast travel (sorry! Level 52 but you've not been there yet). Frustrating, yes. I suppose console commands can take care of this, but older games like Gothic, Vampire Masquerade, even Deus Ex--all classics for me--kept a record of a quest completed under its own appropriate saved game. As for Skyrim, I'm not certain whether this is a programming bug that can be fixed or something intentionally left in as part of the game (Iike the way caves and their contents reset after a "month").
  3. Again I thank you for your suggestions, evilneko. Although FO3 companions tend to wander, you, like Holmes and Watson, stay on track! I mean that as a compliment. I've not visited portableapps.com but will, in hopes of migrating everything to a thumb drive and leaving my year old desktop behind for the next fallout (real or imagined). Oh, I jest, but in this age of anxiety, I can't rid myself of unmentionable fears that rootkits have taken roost in the rafters my system's dark and recessed kernels. My security, btw, is NOD32 and Windows firewall, along with Spybot. (Like coffee, experts can't settle on whether "layered" protection is good today and bad tomorrow.) If you run into philosophical conundrums--my profession, of sorts--I'm here for you and the forum. Regards, Ambergypsy
  4. Hi, evilneko, Thanks, your (implied) suggestion worked (and I was able to download Brooke)! I have two OS's specifically so I can play older games, but get tired of booting to XP to play, then boot back to Win 7 to work. Now I'm wondering whether I have a virus or if FO3 has issues with Win 7. Endless imponderables, but you've made life easier for me with a friendly question. I'm indebted, for what it's worth. 5. I'm not being glib (re. topic title vs description). What I feel is frustration, because I like this website and appreciate what it offers and does for the public. My problem: downloading files to completion, specifically for fallout 3 from the Nexus Fallout Website. I initiate a file download after watching an ad and then the download slows and finally stops--never quite finishing. One example I've been trying to get is Brooke Companion. The file ceases download activity after slowing to a crawl at about 3 MB (half the file size). This has been going on for about five days and is not limited to this file. My ISP (Verizon) says there is no trouble with the lines and they are sending me a new modem which will arrive tomorrow. But I don't think either my ISP or modem is the problem as the rest of the net works fine (email, facebook, Windows 7 downloads and updates, etc.). Before that, I was able to download files from this site that were 50 times the size without a problem. My question(s): 1) Is anyone else experiencing this? 2) If the problem is not unique, are there any suggestions to solve it? 3) Would subscribing as a premium member help this problem specifically by providing faster or better download access points? (Yeah, I'm long overdue anyway, and the lifetime premium option is a great deal.) 4) I'm not aware of recent programs I've installed, except the Service Pack for Windows 7 Home Premium, which I may uninstall, if possible, to see if that is causing this difficult. I did recently reinstall the game on Win 7 from a dual boot (XP is the other OS), placing it in a directory other than Program Files (I read a lot though certainly not everything). Is there something I may have overlooked? Thanks in advance to whoever helps! This is really a great community. Ambergypsy
  6. Hi, I've got the same problems as Frostlake. You say to move Steam "outside of the offending directory." Could you be very explicit and detailed about what you mean and what I do to accomplish this? Not that I'm a newb; I could put the directory on a thumb drive if you want, but to get it to play, to be recognized as set up by the original disks--well, I don't understand what you are suggesting. UAC is even turned off and I'm getting this error, though I've followed directions as Frostlake did. Thanks!
