  1. Not only this but the clipping would be insane, along with stretched textures. One person can disarm and incapacitate a small group of assailants, with the help of an advanced knowledge of martial arts. Bruce lee could easily take out 5 or 6 attackers with his bare hands, as could an expert in the following discipline: "Krav Maga (pronounced /ˌkrɑːv məˈɡɑː/; Hebrew: קרב מגע‎, IPA: [ˈkʁav maˈɡa], lit. "contact combat") is a hand-to-hand combat system developed in Israel that involves striking techniques, wrestling and grappling, mostly known for its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks" "General principles include: Counter attacking as soon as possible (or attacking preemptively). Targeting attacks to the body's most vulnerable points such as the eyes, jaw, throat, groin, knee etc. Neutralizing the opponent as quickly as possible by responding with an unbroken stream of counter attacks and if necessary a take down/joint break. Maintaining awareness of surroundings while dealing with the threat in order to look for escape routes, further attackers, objects that could be used to defend or help attack and so on." *http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krav_Maga
  2. "Time is nigh, I must fly, venture forth on my quest!"
  3. Can anyone speculate at how different the system requirements will be for Skyrim in comparison to the fallout series? I'm hoping that with all the improvements to the engine I can expect a similar frame rate to fallout without upgrading my system. I want to pre-order but there's no point if my rig won't run it.
  4. Not quite what I was looking for as I quite like the general look with the armour, I just have a problem with the unnecessary clipping issues. Thanks anyway :)
  5. Is it possible to mod DA so that it can be played in the 1st person with a combat style more like the elder scrolls, and is the wide open world as seen in elder scrolls and falllout 3 feasible? Thanks in advance
  6. I love the cut scenes in Dragon Age, but am constantly annoyed by all the clipping on many armour sets. The most notable that I have come across so far being the templar armour on the right shoulder (see attached picture). I don't know how many other armour sets there are like this but I think it takes away from the immersion somewhat and would request that someone edit these armour sets to stop/reduce the clipping. Many of the clipping issues are due to parts of armour that are not needed and cannot even be seen when the character is standing normally so wont be missed. Thanks all
  7. Have you tried rolling back to previous versions of your sound driver/codec. I read somewhere that bethesda can't provide support for software realeased after the game was so don't expect any help from them at any rate. I do believe that most sound issues in fallout can be fixed without changing codecs (i refuse to give in), it's just a matter of forcing the game to act how it is supposed to, if only life were so easy. Hope it works and sorry I'm not much help
  8. So when you're talking to certain NPC's and you have the radio on at the same time you lose all sound? Or just certan sounds? When you exit the convo does sound return? What is the wave sound? Is it listed in the volume mixer separate to fallout? Will try to help but I'm not much of a modder I stumbled on the radio stutter fix by accident when rooting around the game files, and it might be hard for me to test as I won't be able to tell if any alterations fix it as I don't suffer with this. Looking in the falout.ini there is a line under audio that says fRadioDialogMute=0.50 not sure what it does but try experimenting with different values for this. Good luck. UPDATE Would recommend playing with anything in the fallout ini that has the word dialogue or dialog in it. Try them one at a time at first, changing them back to the original values if no helpful changes have occurred. Oh and which version of fallout and what system are you running?
  9. I installed 4aces texmesh, following all the instructions, and when it seemed fine until I looked at my pipboy, which had the same shape but was all black with no detail. I thought it was the lighting so I changed the angle and it was still the same. I then uninstalled the mod and reverted back to the vanilla bsa files, but now all the textures in the game are low resolution or something because they look terrible, and turning up texture detail does nothing. Now some large rocks in various places are half out of the ground and the pipboy texture is low res too. Has anyone else had this problem? Why has it done this to my game?
  10. I've made a mod to try and fix the radio stutter that some people have been experiencing, and for the most part it has worked. One of the problems is that the songs on the radio are much quieter than the voice tracks so people have to manually change the volume of each song using sound editing programs, which is obviously not ideal. I think the problem can be fixed with a script but I'm not sure if it will work what commands to use. Here is my idea and can you tell me if this is possible please? If GetRadioSongPlaying* [insertsongname] = 1 set RadioVolume* to 10 Else set RadioVolume* to 6 EndIf * I don't know what the command for these are so if you know can you please tell me? Sorry if it is a badly written script, I am not an experienced modder. Thankyou in advance
  11. I'm not sure, where would I find it if steam still had it?
  12. My laptop cost £900 it's pretty slick I think the steam backup system just ruined it for me. I compared some manual backups that I made of the bsa files with the backups that steam made and all the steam ones were smaller indicating missing files, this might have been part of the problem. I haven't redownloaded the game my last download bill was £20 so I need to give it a small rest for a while, but after that hopefully everyting will be fine. I can run Stalker Clear Sky and Bioshock on full settings without stutter its just Fallout being gay :( Tis a shame as it's the best game I've got and it has got so many problems grrr
  13. This sounds great pretty much exactly what I was asking for :) I'm not much of a modder only released one which didn't even require me touching scripts at all. When the workbench is engaged what options come up? Just a few suggestions: I think what may be a good idea is that as the weapons condition decreases different parts of it 'fail' and to repair the gun you need to use those particular parts that have failed (although fail is probably too strong a word). I think that which part fails first should be random too so as not to be too linear. I think a similar system should be introduced for armour, so you have to patch them up or something. You should be able to find weapon components in the game world, so they need meshes and textures if they don't already. Maybe implement the ability to strip a weapon of its remaining components at a workbench, which either results in the weapon havinf massively decreased condition or simply being replaced by spare parts not sure which one though.
  14. Thanks for the help. I know what you're saying about the power but before I had to reinstall the game it was fine, but now I have low FPS and extreme micro stutter, and changing the graphics setting does'nt change anything, I've tried setting all to low and reducing the resolution with no change in FPS and stutter. Might try redownloading the game again.
  15. I'm creating a mod to stop the radio stutter issue that a lot of people are having. It's worked but now when I press escape then unpause the game the radio plays no music even though it is still selected. At the moment to get music playing again I need to reselect the station I was using. I'm trying to find out how to write a script that can recognise when the game has been unpaused then reset the radio station that was playing previously but I don't know where to start, sorry I'm a noob to scripting.
  16. I'm a noob to scripting so can you tell me how I would tell it to do that function after I unpause the game? Btw thanks for the help :thanks:
  17. Currently when I pause the game and then unpause it the radio station I was listening to stops playing, even though it is still selected. To get music to start playing again I have to deselect and reselect the station through the pipboy. Is it possible to write a script that does this automatically? Or if there is another way to make sure the music keeps playing? Btw this only happens with the songs, not the speech.
  18. I downloaded fallout off steam, it was running fine with minimal stutter until I had to use the backup to restore it. Now I get between 20 and 30 frames per second even with the graphics turned low. I tried changing the FPSClamp but get slow motion unless I set it to 20, with it off I get loads of stutter too :( Sound is fine. I'm running a HP Pavilion dv7 with: Intel Core 2 duo @ 2.4GHz ATI Radeon HD Mobility 4875 4 GHz RAM Windows Vista Home Premium x64 My window Experience index is: Processor: 5.3 Memory: 5.9 Graphics: 4.6 Gaming Graphics: 5.0 Primary Hard Disk: 5.5 Is there any reason my FPS is so low or is there a way to increase it?
  19. This is a fix that doesn't require you to change codec, it's just an esp. Find it here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7876
  20. There is a fix for the radio stutter fix problem that doesn't require you to change codecs or sound drivers, it is just an esp that tells the game to use files that it can read properly. It can be found here: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7876 Enjoy!
  21. I made a fix for the enclave and GNR radio stations that stops the stuttering. Check it out: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7876 This is a WIP so if anyone thinks they can help expand the mod I will be very grateful.
  22. I have made a fix for the enclave and GNR radio stations check out my mod: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7876
  23. I don't have a DLC yet unfortunately, but its not that crippling it just means I can't listen to the music on the radio stations, although I havent found agathas station yet so I don't know if it will work on that. I was looking through the sound bsa file and realised that the music on the radio stations are the only sound files that use mp3 instead of/with wav files. Is there any way to make the game play the music with wav only? Or maybe someone could make a mod in which the music files are all wav? Speech is fine so there must be a way in which the music can, maybe changes in the script for the radio? I'm not sure if that will help, but if someone can find a way to do this this many people will be very grateful.
  24. I don't like the way in which repairs are handled in fallout, and while the mos currently available improve it a little, I don't think they do enough. Outline of ideas: First off, full repairs can only be done at a workbench as it's too unrealistic that the lone wanderer can strip down a gun and put it back together again in the middle of the wasteland. To compensate for this disadvantage, I think that the degradation should take longer, and I propose a portable 'weapon maintenence kit'. This kit should only repair maybe 10-25% of a full repair (taking repair skill into account here), and after using it the weapon should degrade faster, so that the character is inclined to actually use a workbench. No use of the weapon maintence kit in combat, and only one kit required and can only be obtained through either a quest or a merchant (maybe only available from a merchant after the quest is done, in case the player loses the wmk). The weapon maintenence kit is designed to give the player enough time to get to a workbench before their weapon fails completely. For the workbench repair, I suggest that spare parts are required, with a greater number of parts used leading to a higher condition value. The parts required for repair should be random each time for variations sake, maybe an in game message when each part of the gun fails, maybe misfires that require reloading with an icon to show a misfire has occurred (stalker anyone?). A workbench repair gives the weapon the same condition as the vanilla methods gives so that repair skill still neccessary. I think parts should be acquired by either finding them, buying them or stripping them off other guns. Guns can be stripped of parts at the workbench (only with high enough repair skill? some parts need higher skill to remove/apply?) and lose condition themselves and become worth less. Higher level parts slow degradation more than lower ones. Guns that the player finds have parts missing, higher level parts less likely to be present, needless to say broken weapons have no parts. Parts should have a combined effect on reducing redradation so that as more fail degradation happens faster. I propose a greater prevalence of workbenches in the wasteland to accomodate their increased usage. For armour the rules are a little different. Metal armour can only be repaired at the workbench using rivet guns and soldering irons (mask needed to prevent player damage, maybe altered vision for a while if player uses iron without mask) but have a realy slow rate of degradation. Cloth and leather armour can be repaired to full anywhere as all they need is a needle and thread and maybe some wonderglue but degrade really fast. When the workbench is activated it says 'what do you want to do?' with the options 1 create weapon, 2 remove parts from weapon, 3 repair weapon, 4 remove parts from armour, 5 repair armour. When 3 is pressed a list of your weapons comes up (kind of like when trader repairs it) and also a list of parts that you have. When a weapon is selected it gives a list of parts needed and the player can select which ones to apply. Exactly the same for armour. Suggested list of meshes and textures needed: Spare parts for weapons: Trigger (all) Buttplate (rifles with stock) Recoil pad? (rifles with stock) Grip cap (only bullet firing weapons) Grip (all) Handguard (machine guns) Could be more essential parts but I'm not an expert, need some for electric weapons Spare parts for armour: Plate metal Leather patch Cloth patch Teflon (or equivalent) Rivets (for metal armour) Thread Tools Needle (cloth/leather armour only) Weapon reapair kit (just a box maybe?) Rivet gun (metal armour only) Soldering iron + solder (metal armour only) Thankyou for reading this far I know its a bit of an essay, and if its a little unclear thats because its 3 in the morning. I'm welcome to other suggestions and please give feedback.
