Best way to re-install Fallout and keeping your mods
paroxysm replied to FKRumors's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Well, mate, chances are the problems you're having *are* with your mods. Make a list of the essentials (look at the list in FOMM) and just redownload after the reinstall. -

No, it cannot be done ingame. -
Crashes after starting the game any way
paroxysm replied to thorane's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Ah. You mean 1022 MB of RAM. That's not nearly, realistically, enough. -
This sounds remarkably like renaissance Anchorage. :P Unfortunately, I am completely unskilled in modding the game, so I can't really help you. This forum is a good place to ask, though.
-
Actually, I sorted out my problem (I had a multicore system, forgot to edit fallout.ini), and it's now running beautifully on my W7x64.

Reinstalling Windows without Reinstalling Fallout? =o
paroxysm replied to sanjima's topic in Fallout 3's Mod Troubleshooting
Doing that is sure to cause all sorts of errors with the notoriously-finicky Fallout. I would suggest copypasting your Data folder onto a flash drive, separate hard drive, etc, and just reinstalling the game, then putting the Data folder back in its proper place. -
You probably deleted the folders INSIDE the Data folder and left the DLC files - that's a bad thing. The only way to recover it is to reinstall.

Wait... 1022 GB of RAM? -
Never mind, I've got it fixed. It was a multi-core issue.
-
Wait, what?

Er, that's just a mess of html tags. EDIT: I ran it through my html editor, and it appears to just restate my specs.
-
I had the same problem, tried what you said, and it gave me some nonsense about DDRAW.dll. Could you provide more information?

I'd like to see one set in San Francisco. Now that I think about it, London (my hometown) would also be a very interesting place for a setting.

I posted here about... four months ago, lost the link to my thread, completely forgot. Anyway, I recently purchased a new computer, with Windows 7, and decided to buy the GOTY just because it was all-in-one, fully patched, etcetera, and it just seemed easier. It has given me nothing but problems. I installed, did no mods, did EXACTLY NOTHING, ran the game, and it froze. I got about thirty seconds into the birth scene before it froze. I've had this the last time I tried installation - it varied, from thirty seconds to almost ten minutes before the crash. I present to you my dxDiag (well, the important parts): ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 4/13/2011, 20:16:09 Machine name: RUDIE-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7600) (7600.win7_ldr.101026-1502) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
