  2. Honestly, the Mel Gibson movie The Patriot had some really good costumes. The story/script was not the best, but the costuming was great. That, combined with in-world armor, that'd be awesome.
  3. Is a way to display war trophies. A rack of hanging holotags from every BOS member I've taken down, Maxson's tag and the other officers of the accursed BOS airship taking pride of place. A tick mark on the arm of my power armor for every knight and paladin that has fallen before me so the fools can see my might and tremble before me. A shelf in my home littered with various synth components, optic receivers of the Gen I and IIs. A gate to Sanctuary Hills decorated with the right hand of every Courser I've dispatched to symbolize how I have taken the Institute's ability to wage war from them. I want to tear the arm off a Super Mutant Suicider that dares charge me. Beat it and it's hound to death with the nuke, then chase the nearest Super Mutant Overlord through the streets of Boston flailing it to death with the mace I have made of it's fellow's limb, a limb that still holds onto a bomb. I want it to scream with terror, not at the fact that the nuke might blow up at any moment, but at my joyful laughter. Afterwards I want to hang that arm from the streetlights of my settlements. The attached mini-nuke jury-rigged to provide power to the streetlights, simultaneously allowing my settlers to traverse between their homes at night and imbuing them with a feeling of pride in their protector. Let the fat from the Forged's dead bodies burn as torches lighting the way to my settlements, my havens. Let the BOS mark the way to my settlements with a sign stating "Ad orbisque mortis" This is my state, my Commonwealth. My enemies should know me by the tread of my boot, the jingling of the holotags hanging from my belt, and the glow of my PipBoy. They should know that they need to scurry away when I step out into the wastes. They should fear me. Bingo bongo.
  4. That quote is based on what Chris Avellone said, and what he said was specifically regarding California. There's never been anything in-game that says that horses are extinct. Also, it doesn't make any sense that a farmer would keep a pack animal if they were so weakened by the bombs when there are brahmin around. Unless that pack animal was not as weakened by the bombs as everyone thinks.
  5. That's actually never been answered fully. They are definitely extinct in Cali as Chris Avellone has stated, but with the appearance of Huxley's Donkey (I think his name was Huxley) in F2 it indicates that they might've survived. The two species have very similar needs and weaknesses. Also, I'm fairly sure that there's a vault somewhere that is filled with genetic stock.
  6. This is not the exact script. It's not exactly what you're going to hear when you turn on Commonwealth Public Radio. It's a concept I edited the initial post. Also, I think I briefly touched on all of those issues previously in this thread. Do those previous posts work to address your concerns? Do they bring up new ones? I'd love to flesh this out properly
  7. You should read my original post. In it I mention this one particular item and its quest. The item is called the "Gilded Grasshopper."
  8. I know it's going to take the GECK, but I'm trying to plant the seed right now. Could start doing the voice-work and whatnot.
  9. I wrote it to reflect my character and how she does what she does around the Commonwealth. It could be changed any number of ways. The opening scene could be scripted, there could be several different scripts for the opener depending on how the player saved Strip, it could even be handwaved as something that happened without the player knowing they had saved Strip. As it is, it's a concept piece to showcase something that I'd like to have happen. It's not meant to be the exact script of how it has to happen. You follow?
  10. Yeah, Jamaica Plains, as it was just before the bombs fell would have been a tourist trap. However if it had been given 20 years or more, it might've turned into something decent. Or it might've gotten even worse. I like the moon mod idea, I'd like to see how that plays out.
  11. Very possible, but you do come across several spots that are historical locations. I think I thought of this when I came across Paul Revere's house. I immediately thought "oh s#*!, there's got to be something good here." and did a search. There's not even a drawer or cabinet inside with random junk. The most you get is a couple of nearby super mutants to kill. But there's the museum in Concord, Jamaica Plains, Salem's museum of witchcraft, and a whole host of historical buildings (which in towns like Boston are typically setup to show off stuff of the times.) There's several other Boston museums that don't make an appearance in Fallout 4 (Museum of Science, JFK Library, MIT Museum, Harvard Museum of Natural History, and a whole bunch of others)
  12. Of course, I would love to help write/script this, whatever needs doing, I just don't know enough about the mod programs to actually do the work. But setup I can most definitely help with
  13. Edit: I guess I need to clarify something. This is just a concept piece. It is not meant to be the exact script, it's not meant to be exactly what you'll hear. There will be other news items, just like on every single other radio station within the Commonwealth and the other two previous Fallout games. Three Dog doesn't only have one script that he follows, he mentions several things that the player does as well as numerous things not even related to the player. This would be a similar radio station with similar effects. I wrote this around my character and how I saw everything happening. It is not meant to reflect your character, just to get you in the mood of what I would like to see/hear happening in my Commonwealth. ---------------------------------------------------------------- :Banjo plays joyously and enthusiastically: Strip: "Hello and welcome to Survivor Talk on Commonwealth Public Radio with us, Strip and Scrap the Scavenger Brothers!" Scrap: "We're broadcasting Strip, sotto voce: "As always" Scrap: "From Our Fair City" Both: "Boston, Mass!" Strip: "So, as I do every time the Rad Storms are weak, I brought my '63 Corvega out of the garage to polish around the rust" Scrap, laughing: "You STILL have that thing!?!" Strip: "And after I was done, I took her out to head to my favorite junkyard to scrounge for some aluminum. On the way, a band of Raiders ambushed me and were about to attack. I honestly thought I was done for." Scrap: "I could be so lucky" Strip: "Out of the blue, this girl drops in from nowhere in a full suit of X-01 power armor!" Scrap: "No way, I'd have to have all the caps I've ever loaned you to get one of those!" Strip: "So this girl turns to the leader of the group and casually demands that he turn on his fellows" Scrap: "That poor thing, was there enough left of her to scrape into a grave?" Strip: "The fool did it! I don't know if he was coming down off Jet, if she was off her gourd on Grape Mentats, or some combination that I'm not even aware of but he turned around and put a round in the Raider next to him! Next thing I know I'm in the middle of a firefight and this girl unholsters the biggest Gauss rifle I have EVER seen, pauses to take aim and completely incinerates three of the remaining Raiders! As soon as it started it's over and this lady is checking through the dust piles to see if there's anything good. The leader has started to recover from what he did enough to snap out of whatever this woman did to him and starts to aim his pipe rifle at her." Scrap: "Like that would do anything to a set of X-01!" Strip: "Fortunately for almost all involved, I had also recovered enough from the surprise of the ambush enough to throw a hatchet into his neck!" Scrap: "You forgot your laser pistol again, didn't you?" Strip: "No! That piece of crap you gave me still doesn't work! I've swapped out every single part on there! It's a new pistol and it still doesn't work!" Scrap: "You know you're no good with anything designed after 2075! Give it back, I'll fix it for you" Strip: "Anyways, she looks up when the raider leader falls dead at her side, stops looking through the ashes of one of the raiders she killed and tosses something to me." Scrap: "Is that where you got... ?" Strip: "Yeah! She threw me a brand new Recon Scoped .50 Cal Sniper Rifle!" Scrap whistles in awe Strip: "And that, ladies and ghouls, is how I met the Scourge of the Institute, General of the Minutemen, Agent of the Railroad, and all around good gal; The Sole Survivor!" Sole Survivor: "Glad to be here guys, Scrap how did this guy ever survive with such bad luck with his weapons?" All three laugh. Scrap: "I honestly don't know. I saw him make a guy in a hat and trench coat laugh once, maybe that guy keeps him safe because it amuses him. In any case, we are very glad you found us, were able to help out my brother, and even more glad that you were able to come in for an interview." Massive explosion audible on air :Footsteps heard entering the hole where the locked door was: Super Mutant Overlord: "I found you, puny human! Now you will payyy!!!" :gunshots, Super Mutant screeching in pain, Strip and Strap throwing out stupid jokes, Overlord dies in a blaze of gunfire: Sole Survivor: "And you call us dum dums" All Laugh Strip: "That's all the time we have for the show today, folks! Tune in next time when we interview one of the Sole Survivor's closest friends Preston Garvey to see what we should do to help our settlements!" Scrap: "Don't scavenge like my brother!" Strip: "Don't scavenge like my brother!" :Banjos, banjos everywhere: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that's what I want to hear on my radio. Cambridge Square is where this would be located, it would probably need to be a new location as I don't think anything is there. Northwest of the police station, and Southwest of College Square. The two images at the bottom are the actual location and a rough location of where it would be in-world. I posted this (originally) on Reddit where it was very well received, in the ensuing discussion there were several good ideas and things that got thrown up. In my head I saw: Strips - Ghoul, been living in Cambridge since before the bombs dropped. Owned a handyman business beforehand (I believe there's a Red Rocket just northwest of College Square, maybe that was his before the war, or he rented out part of the garage?) Scraps - amalgamation of various generation/types of synths. The head was found by Strips in an operational state and called out to him while he was scavenging. Eventually gets a full body by their joint scavenging (I wrote this before Automatron came out, so a lot of this flows into the abilities you get in that DLC.) For some unknown reason Scraps has the memories of a pre-war old man with the initials T.M. who lived just outside Cambridge. In the garage of his house you'd find a black Corvega that, while in poor condition, is still operational. The callers would call in and ask for aid with general problems: sick brahmin, best turret type for use near mirelurks, complaints about/how to deal with an untrustworthy trader, etc. Most of them would be complete nonsense and just an excuse for the characters to play off of each other, but every third or fourth would be something tied to a hidden quest, or how to find a particular unique weapon, or something else that the player would be able to use. I can see some sort of joke when they first met before they had each other's real name. Strips says that he'd be able to make a scrap body for Scraps, Scraps gets offended and makes a joke about the strips of skin hanging off Strips. http://i.imgur.com/RAUWJ7E.png?1 http://i.imgur.com/2qh4yV0.png?2
  14. To find Legendary Items to aid in your settlement and your adventures around Boston. Paul Revere was a silversmith before the war and afterwards had several notable designs attributed to him. If you could find his desk or his forge and transport them to a settlement for crafting bonuses, that would be awesome. John Adams and John Quincy Adams (both presidents) were born in Quincy and their relics could improve your leadership and/or charisma, Louisa May Alcott's writings could be turned over to that little dink in the radio booth and be used to inspire the settlers. Ben Franklin's glasses could give a bonus to energy weapons (and you know that ole Ben had some experimental weapon socked away somewhere that you can find and use to fry your enemies with, maybe as a *shudder* radiant quest to gather the parts necessary to complete it) There are some relics of old Boston that you can find and travel around collecting, the Gilded Grasshopper is one but the reward is a little lackluster. The Broadsider and Cap Ironside's hat is pretty cool, however what is there to find in Salem? Was there really nothing to find on path to the Railroad? In Fallout 3 you find all of Lincoln's relics, you have to pull the satellite dish off of the Lunar Landing Module, Declaration of Independence, Magna Carta, all of these antique documents and other things that you have to find and interact with. Where are these things in Boston? Why don't the Minutemen want to gather reminders of a time when they were strong? When the world was "good?" Why doesn't the Institute want to gather these things so that they can destroy the destructive past, or have the BoS steal them away as war trophies? Emily Dickinson John Hancock Dr Seuss John F Kennedy Susan B Anthony (Born about two hours away from Boston) Alexander Graham Bell Johnny Appleseed Buckminster Fuller (Real potential with settlements and buildings here) All of these people are from Boston or it's surroundings and could have something significant to bring to the game. Ideally there would be side quests for most of these things, maybe you could find something in Jamaica Plains that spoke of other "treasures" around Boston.
