  1. Just for you, it's now April. :) Just kidding I've been trying out different colours now: my favourite seems to be the Navy Seal Grey version. Don't even know why it's used IRL, but hey, I'm no operator. When this thing gets released I'll probably release templates so modders can implement their own camo/colour without butchering the PBR setup. http://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/images/1151/1287472-1455602689.jpg Note: that armour is not for release yet. Not even close, so don't ask me about it please.
  2. That's gonna be over 400mb of pictures, videos and PDF's. By the time my ISP has uploaded it all, that guy probably has forgotten all about it ;) Anyway, I've set a rough release date of early March. By that time, I'd have like to have finished off at least an EOTech XPS3.
  3. It's normally used for stuff like NOD's and magnifiers like this. Anyway, I didn't invent the thing, it was already there, so I put it there. Else the gun nuts will harass me for not sticking to accuracy  God save us from the gun nuts they get their facts wrong half the time anyways. The gun is looking great and I really appreciate how its a newer gun but doesn't look like it's hot off the factory line. I literally have 305 pictures of just the MK14 in various setups. I even resorted to technical drawings on the receiver just to nail it, so I hope to God I did it right.

  5. If the property stacks, that'll be great then. Thanks for the tip! I'll give it a try when the day comes. If not, I'll just fudge the model a bit. In my defense, worse things have been done in games to get them working.

  7. You can quite easily adjust the camera position for sights which have their reticles at different heights through the mod forms using FO4Edit, more details at http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3733245-f4-sighting-node/ That's understandable. Once the GECK (or other suitable tools to manipulate animations) is around, I'd see it better though to create custom animations for it, partly so that it wouldn't need to use mirrored receiver & charging handle, but could use the original design in that aspect. I know about that, I'm using it right now actually. I'm talking about when you're not aiming: the receiver is right next to your face. Oh! Well, think about it like this: if I were to use a different stock, I won't be able to use the Sage DCSB base (that weird thingy that's attached to the rail of the EBR), and I'd have to use something like a Sadlak. That is going to be a different height from the Sage DCSB, so the scope location will be off for one of them unless I can work around it somehow.

  9. Don't hold your breath, but I might also be implementing a 'classic' M14 and JAE-100 stock. Shouldn't even be that bad, considering that I could just take the EBR chassis off the receiver very easily and just slap it on the stock. Scopes, however, are going to be a different story due to the varying scope rail height, but I'll investigate it a bit more. My current to-do (after DA:I) is an EOTech XPS3 and a full-auto selector lever. Right now, a cutout cover is covering the slot where the firing selector was removed. I tried the original combat rifle animations first, but the rifle felt too 'in-your-face'. Moreover, it looks incredibly dodgy in 3rd person. Hopefully with GECK I can mix-and-match animations so I can get a combat rifle reload and SMG grip.
  10. SMG animations, unfortunately. It was either bad reloading animations with a wrong grip or worse reloading animations with the correct grip. That might change with GECK.
  11. Thanks for the support! First things first: new attachments: Mod 1 stock w/ CTR Mod 2 stock Leupold CQBSS Elcan SpecterDR SEI muzzle brake SEI M14DC suppressor And onto the better news: I managed to wrangle it into the game! http://i.imgur.com/cR8Jh9J.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1SmOyrd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2CHi735.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6QfjTCr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cXYfbbf.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FQ87QuQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/izjuNMK.jpg I'll say that Fallout 4 was fairly receptive of my work. At least it didn't end up like FO3's lighting. Of course, a few textures need to be cleaned up: the Mod 0 stock and Elcan SpecterDR immediately springs to mind. But hey, as a proof of concept, I know how to get everything into the game now.
  12. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3742835-wip-mk14-ebr/ Have to fix up a few things first, but it exists ;)
  13. You didn't designate a specular map, and since the spec map contains both a gloss and spec map, it's pretty much going to look like a white overlay on top of your texture.
  14. So, Fallout 4 happened. That means the usual thing happened: the guns aren't exactly appealing to my taste. So I decided to head out and change that. I present the MK14 EBR, or 'that OP gun from MW2' http://i.imgur.com/lRXUDDm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JOl0wNI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/i9J9knA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/QaJtjwZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2MmpfzE.jpg So far, I'm a bit more ahead than what I'm showing you guys so far, but might as well take my time releasing it, right? Of things to note is that this weapon was designed from the ground up to utilise a physically-based system. So no more goofy-looking specular effects (hopefully). So expect the end result in FO4 to look fairly similar to what you're seeing here (minus the cool post-effects and anti-aliasing). So, the attachments (planned or already made) EBR chassis (short and long, long seen here) EBR Mod 0 EBR Mod 1 (with CTR stock) EBR Mod 2 SEI Vortex flash hider SEI Good Iron muzzle brake SEI M14DC suppressor 18" + 22" barrel (22" to have traditional M14 irons) Leupold CQBSS Elcan SpecterDR EOTech XPS3 PEQ-15 Surefire M952V Magpul AFG Full-auto switch FAQ When will this be finished? Knowing me, probably never. However, I may encounter difficulties with FO4 and moving content to it, so who knows. What renderer did you use? Marmoset Toolbag, a real-time PBR solution more or less tailor-made to preview game art. Can I make a request for a mod? I won't stop you, but I probably won't heed said request. I've got a lot on my plate right now. I think I saw this on another site! If the user who posted it was 'dazzerfong', yep, same person. If not, please contact me. How many polys does this thing have/ what are the texture sizes? Short answer: a lot of polys. And fairly big textures. Don't worry, it's still well within playable levels. I'll post a full overview of what part uses what. You ripped this from a game! Nope. If someone wants to challenge my claims, feel free to shoot a PM and I'll send proof I did it. This model is inaccurate! With the amount of research I did on it, I highly doubt it. If you still think you're right, please provide documentation. If you are indeed right, I will rectify said inaccuracy with my thanks.
  15. Here's a rough outline: Spec: BC5 Normal map: BC5 Diffuse: BC1 (DXT1) for more lossy compression, or BC7 (linear, fine) for nicer stuff. BC7 comes with a free alpha channel, so if you have an alpha channel on your diffuse, pretty much stick with BC7. Normal maps are orange because the blue channel is discarded in BC5. The swizzling is actually identical to FO3/Skyrim besides the fact the blue channel's gone. Initially, everyone thought it was a derivative map, but it doesn't look like it is from my stuff.
  16. @ csgators: The situation in Taiwan is tricky, I admit. Do you know how Taiwan was formed? It was formed because on dictator got kicked out by another dictator. Hell ensues. Even then, the UN is on China's side this time (surprisingly). The Vietnam situation: guess what's next to the Cambodia/Vietnam border? It spilled over. Please read up on it. On border disputes, let's go to England...........ever wondered why it's called the 'United Kingdom of England and Northern Ireland'? And why would China care about some outback land that no-one really cares about? It's called integrity. You're being strangely aggressive here.............. @ Mandamus: It's natural: people don't trust people they're not used to. Of course we'll all prefer the United States: we're used to them running the show for over 50 years. Before then, it was the United Kingdom. Even I, an Australian-Chinese, am more used to the Americans running the show. Until China could clean up its problems (namely corruption, I already admit democracy doesn't really work well in China (look into HK to see why)), I don't want them running any shows. Back on topic: Right now, whenever I try to read up on the race, the figures are all muddled up. Which side arguably has more support?
  17. @ csgators: Don't want to go off-topic anymore, but let's begin with simple history: Vietnam - Border problems. One side (both sides really are responsible) got nuts, the other gets even more nuts. Taiwan - Not exactly a war, Taiwan's part of China. It's kind of the same thing with East Timor, except East Timor got their independence. Tibet - Part of China on and off history, but most recently, since the 1950's. Kind of like letting go Texas: not going to happen, at least in their books. @ mandamus: Promise it's the last post on China. No, in my opinion, and being a Chinese person, we're too different to the rest of the world to 'rule' it. The attitudes, morals and ethics are just too different for China to comfortably control the world. Subtle influences, maybe. Direct control? Never. @ colourwheel Agreed: we all know that politicians don't do what the public want. But being labelled a criminal? Excluding Truman and Nixon, can't really say much on that.

  19. @ HeyYou: Of course, but under hypothetical circumstances, in that both parties actually do what they say, which ones do you agree under their policies?
  20. @ Mandamus: At least China doesn't start random wars. @ All Americans: In this election, are you more looking forward to the parties' economic plans, charisma, military strategy or their legal changes?
  21. @ hoof: I'm pretty sure extreme differences, like 1,000:1 and a 1,000,000:1 are because they're talking about different things. The small number is the static DR, and the large number is the dynamic DR. Static DR is the true reflection of colour vibrance: the other is a load of *censored*, in that it's simply achieved through darkening or brightening the monitor. Of course, it's only one thing to consider when buying a monitor. You'd also consider what percent of the gamut the monitor could output (really, it's only important if you're doing sensitive colour work), reliability (my old LG's been running for over 6 years every day), and build quality. Here's a good article. A bit overkill, but it could help you in deciding which monitor's suitable for you.
  22. @ scotty: Nah, you don't even have to tell them on the spot they got it wrong. Just post it on their Facebook wall!
  23. Well, can we trick them by asking them to 'talk' to a 'deceased' person when they are in fact alive? It would be an interesting test, don't you think?
  24. I reckon if you're not going 'professional', go with Blender (because it's free), and while I'll admit to certain deficiencies of Blender, in general you won't run into problems for it. Of course, if you, or could get, a student license for 3DS Max, try both. Some prefer 3DS Max's interface, I preferred Blender's. Both are more than suitable for the job.
  25. I don't think they're collapsing, I just think they're getting harder to find, or acknowledge. With globalisation becoming stronger than ever, it's hard to resist conformism, really. Of course, there are still 'dissidents' to this movement, but as I said earlier, they're becoming quieter in the strength of their voice.
