  1. In response to post #47811690. #47816920, #47823670 are all replies on the same post. I haven't played Oblivion in years. Is the Oblivion mod scene still decently active? Do people still play it?
  2. That mod solves player leveling, not npc leveling. You'd want something like Oscuro's or Francesco's or TIE. The issue was never that players became weaker as they leveled up, it was that the npcs leveled up with you, creating bandits with deadric armor in the extreme.
  3. Everything was going fine and dandy, happily modding away, testing some and adding a little at a time to see what I like. I tried enhanced hotkeys http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=25078 but didn't quite like it. I deactivated the omod and thought that was that. I downloaded another one called super hotkeys and went to try it. It was just an ini file and esp. Activated it, game crashes while loading save. Tried making new save, that crashed too. I tried deactivating every single esp/esm file except the oblivion.esm and I get the same result, so it can't be a mod thing. Super hotkeys replaced some sort of UI thing, I think it might have been the default quick key wheel menu. I've been using the Dark Darn UI so I tried reinstalling that, but it just crashed faster. I saw that super hotkeys asks you to edit your oblivion.ini file to help uninstall, I tried that but it didn't help, even tried running the game after deleting the ini file but I got same result. Am I missing something? What can I do? Edit: Fixed it! I tried as many things as I could, but nothing worked. So I checked my data folder and saw that windows made a backup. I copied the older menu folder and copied that in, and it worked! I actually reinstalled enhanced hotkeys as a part of the process and figured out how to get it to work for me, so everything's fine. But for those who use it, maybe it was just me but be sure to back up your UI folder. Heck, backing up your data folder from time to time probably isn't a bad idea.
  4. hmm, thanks. I started a character today with this: S: 4 P: 6 E: 6 C: 1 I: 9 A: 7 L: 7 The idea is that you want high int for skills and highisher endurance for implants later on. I made a character earlier and got to Novac, then learned more about the game and what's important and wanted to start over. I did the same thing in Oblivion, I started over so many times, especially when I got into mods, I never even finished the main quest, but it was still loads of fun. Anyway, the kind of character I envision is someone who uses energy weapons if they have to fight, but primarily enjoy just roaming the land and exploring. I'd imagine fighting would be most fun with a decent rifle where I could shoot from a distance with a scope. So agility sounds good to move around quickly, and I saw that there was a perk to give +10% move speed, so that sounds good too. If the only thing perception does is help red dots on the compass show up earlier, it's handy, but not hugely important. I think I read 6 is needed for a perk though. I don't need 6 endurance, it could be 1 or 2 lower, how important are implants later on? 8 int sounds fine. Is companions primarily what charisma affects? I haven't gotten any so I don't know how much fun they are. Luck doesn't have to be 7, it just seems kind of interesting to have higher for battle purposes, help out in the casinos too. If it helps, I usually go with trigger discipline and small frame, and focus on science, repair, and energy weapons when I make the character. Thanks! Edit: I also read on gamefaqs about rushing straight to vegas from goodsprings so you can get implants and money quickly, especially to get more skill points with an intelligence implant. I made it by sneaking past the cazadores with a stealth boy, I'm now doing favors for the king. Have any of you do this before? Is it fun or just sort of unnecessary?
  5. When making a character, what stats are most important? It seems most common to lower charisma and luck in favor of other attributes, but how will that affect you? High int is good for more skills, but I also like high agility to get around faster and perception to know when there are enemies around.
  6. I was wondering if you guys knew of good modern clothing mods. I've found a pair of jeans that look really good and thought it'd be cool to continue on that modern theme. I'm using the female HGEC body now, I guess what I'd be looking for is a regular looking t-shirt, maybe some tennis shoes/sneakers, and a hat/baseball cap would be cool.
  7. Turning the sound off didn't make a HUGE difference, but a little bit. Still stuttered a bit, but no crashes which was nice. Changing the streamline setting helped a little as well, smoother in some areas, others it still gets bogged down on. I just recently tried reinstalling my drivers, they should be fine. I'm letting streamline manage everything except actor, item, and object fade as I don't want to be caught off guard, I put those at 75%. Is that reasonable?
  8. Hmm, yea I'm using Win7 64 bit, is the 3gb enabler not worth it then?
  9. The game is certainly playable, it's just that outdoors it can be kind of choppy and especially in cities when looking in a direction with lots of objects it slows down considerably to a point where if I had to fight I couldn't. Very good inside and in dungeons though. The funny thing is that i feel like I run Crysis better than this game. Crysis would average around 30 fps and was very stable, never crashed very small stutters from time to time. Oblivion can have longer stutters and sometimes a stutter to a crash. Still a fantastic game, just wondering if there's something I can do to make it better. 4 gigs of ram Radeon 4850 Amd triple core at 2.8 ghz Windows 7 RC Most in game settings maxed at 1280x1024 Mods that might affect it: Streamline Operation Optimization Unique Landscapes Fran's + mmm Better Cities + Illumination within + Clocks Natural Environments Low poly and shorter grass Oblivion Crash Prevention System
  10. Hi, I've been been downloading some custom races and it's been pretty fun, I'm just running into a problem. I downloaded one pack of races, and I found that the skin tone was perfectly fine with no clothes on, but when you put them on, the arms would either be weird colors, or be standard human pale, as compared to the rest of the body which was dark elfish. If I have on a shirt that doesn't cover all of the upper body then there is a clear neck line where the face is blue and below the neck is normal pale. I thought it might be just a problem with that one race so I downloaded a different one. I got the dryder race which was cool, but I found a similar problem. I even noticed that as you put clothes the arms would get much bigger than they normally would be and lose some color, especially the special leaf texture that makes it so unique, especially on mismatches on the legs. Is it possible that default armor isn't compatible with new races, should I download custom armor to use with them? First pack I used: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19259 Secone race: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17204
  11. Cool thanks, I'm using one of the Corean races right now, i thin it's number 3 mouth closed. I found a way to change race while retaining the original race's stats. I was able to start as a breton and then change to corean.
  12. I've found a lot of cool looking custom races, but the race bonuses aren't optimal. Is there a mod that allows me to pick what the race bonuses are? Attribute points and Skill points is mostly what I'm interested, but if I could change or even create other abilities like a passive resistance or ability that'd be great.
