  1. I'm wondeing if it ouldn't run just fine under Proton. Most everythng I run on my Deck is Windows games not Linux ones.
  2. F4SE has been updated on Silverlock.org. They don't have the installer version done as yet, so you'd have to manually install (and manually delete the next go-round). MCM has been updated. Looksmenu and Place Everywhere are still awaiting updates. Achievements doesn't seem to need an update, I'm sure there are numerous others.
  3. When I assign settlers to new jobs, they seem to be keeping whatever dialogues went with their original jobs. So I've got farmers-turned-scavvers who keep talking about the farm. Even worse, when I switched one over to work at my Slocum Joe's she's still babbling about the farm as she wipes the counter and isn't offering me vendor dialogues. This means I can only trade with her personal inventory. How do I reliably get them to switch their dialogues to match with their current jobs?
  4. The parking meters in Fallout 3 accepted bottlecaps. Most cash registers in any of the games contain bottlecaps. Apparently you're the only person in the wasteland who knows what the No Sale button does...
  5. In our own reality, house and alley cats tend to be alpha predators that do a real number on the native songbirds in their areas. Their claws are very sharp, they also allow them to climb trees and other things with ease to escape the rare predator that might threaten them.
  6. Someone above decided that "career politicians" are the problem, and that term limits are the solution. NOPE. Who do you want running things, someone who knows what they're doing? Or a bunch of rank amateurs? We've had seven months of a newbie politician as President, how's that been going. The two-term limit on the presidency works out OK because it's the highest rung on the ladder. After you've done it there's just your memoir, presidential library, paid speeches here and there and appearances at conventions. There's only one president at a time, as well. Putting this on representatives and senators would get us far more politicians who're out to make a quick buck. If anything it'd LOWER the quality of people vying for these positions. Would YOU want to get a job without much of a future? Only if it's reasonably likely there'd be something good to move on to.
  7. Oh, sorry. It crashes just after the first "sliding picture" comes on the screen. It actually gets to that point though, not crashing before or as it starts. A second or two after...
  8. Yesterday the game was running pretty good. It's an old game, and I've got a PC that's more than beefy enough for it (i5-6500, GTX1060 w/ 6GB, 16GB RAM, another 16GB on a USB3 ReadyBoost drive... Therefore I made Fallout 3 aware of more RAM. Then I kind of went ape adding mods. Doing them one or two at a time probably would've been a bit wiser. I realize I should probably just remove at least half of these mods, but I was hoping someone might see something glaring up there (as was done for an earlier poster). This got sorted by BOSS, but it didn't know what a fair bit of this stuff was. I put TiesThatBind down bottom because that's where the modder said it should be. I put compatibility patches beneath both mods they get to work right together.
  9. In response to post #27187839. #27188199, #27190479, #27190754, #27190799, #27194819, #27210794 are all replies on the same post. It doesn't so much take smarts to DDoS someone. It takes money. So figure it's folks who are trying to extort money from a site (in this case, probably someone else who hosts with the same provider the Nexus uses was the intended victim, this site just happened to be there). Or someone with some (one assumes ill-gotten) cash to blow to rent the services of a botnet. The folks who "own" those botnets build them via malware. Some of them doubtless put a fair bit of time, money and effort into compromising thousands of non-secure PCs. Jerks (or sometimes even governments) pay them to take down certain sites.
  10. There's a new Jarl in Skyrim. He greedily taxes 75% of the player's income! The player only gets 1/4 of what they'd normally get upon completing a quest, and Jarl Gaben pops in and grabs the other 3/4. Perhaps just call him Jarl Gabriel? He ought to be a bit portly at least. Don't make the likeness too close, of course. You could make a killing off my idea on the Steam Workshop. You should however most definitely give it away on the Nexus.
  11. If you want to get really technical about it, AFAIK Bethesda and Valve get a minimum of 75% of what folks pay for mods. They only pay out in increments of $100 checks. In other words, if they've sold $398 worth of a mod, the modder gets nothing. In that case, Valve/Bethesda split 100% of the take. If your mod did $799 in sales, you only have the $100 check you got when you topped $400 in sales. You won't see the second $100 check until it breaks $800. Folks selling under $400 get 0%, folks selling exactly $400 make 25%, folks selling between $401 and 799 make somewhere between just over 12.5% and just under 25%.
  12. But seriously, Bathing Beauties Luxury Suite has some of this functionality. Residents of Whiterun do tend to come and visit the place and drink at its bar. There might be some dialogues you'd need to go through to get this happening? Thing to keep in mind: Most NPCs are rigidly scripted. They sleep so many hours across the same time period each night. They have breakfast, most of them head to work. They take a midday break. They have a meal at home or at an inn, and some of them will then go out to drink at a tavern. Others might pray at their church of choice or engage in other activities (like Heimskr) at different times of the day. Having an NPC break off their normal schedule to go somewhere and then need to have enough time to walk home in time to get to bed might perhaps be an issue? I'm not sure. If I were going to see how this is best done, BBLS is what I'd look at. You'd of course want to talk to its author before you make use of any of that stuff in your own mod.
  13. If you live in/near Whiterun, you should get occasional knocks on the door from Heimskr. "Excuse me friend, do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior Talos?"
