  1. So, do I create a new quest, basically for the renting of the room? I have read the tutorial several times, but for some reason it just won't stick in my head. Is there a way for me to basically copy another NPC's text and have my NPC say it? So i basically just create a new quest, call it something like MHArealTavernSleep, and add the dialogue??
  2. Hiya, I am planning on creating a new village with a couple of new quests and whatnot, I am taking small steps at the moment, just familiarizing myself with the cs, etc. So far, I have created an Inn, I have modelled the whole interior and the NPC's, my only problem is for some reason I can just not find how to get my NPC to offer the services of a bed. I have a script for renting the bed, I have used Wawnet Inn's Nerussa as a template for the scipts, etc (basically looking at how she is done an replicating it myself with my own variables), I have everything except for the dialogue that asks whether the player wants a bed. Is there a way to include this dialogue easily? Would have it been easier for me to simply copy a pre-existing NPC completely and just edited the name and script? Because I wanted to basically do this from the roud up so I could learn. I think mayhaps the problem is because my NPC is an Imperial and Nerussa a dark elf? But surely there is an Imperial Inn-Keeper?? So could somebody point me to a tutorial, or give me some advice on how to do this?
  3. By download restrictions, I mean I have a limit to what I can download, don't have net at home and so the local library on my laptop is the best bet for me. I know this mod will take a little while to complete and so I am hoping that soon enough I can help! Just thinking, will there be a possibility for existing players to travel to middle earth? I would certainly start a new game for the mod, but I would like the option of travelling to and from Cyrodiil at will. Maybe some kind of rift (sound pretty cliche, but hey, cliche obviously works if it's been used so often), or perhaps somebody in Middle earth opened a gate between worlds for some reason, I mean it would be excellent to stay to the main idea of the LOTR, but of course I assume the aim of this mod is not only to bring that to life, but to also provide people with the opportunity to really explore Middle Earth. Maybe the Ayleids could be some kind of ancient Middle Earth race who faced some kind of dire peril and escaped to a different world - hence Tamriel? And their portal has been reopened somehow. Oh well, I've been blabbering, good thing about these mods is that there are so many possibilties!!
  4. Wow, from what I've seen, it looks AMAZING!! Really wish I was a good modder now, I am only new and so wouldn't be much use, but I wish I could really be a part of this, It looks like it will be essentially a whole entire game within oblivion itself!! Would also really love to download the Beta, but alas I am forced to conform to download restrictions, oh well, I guess I will just have to wait!! ;)
  5. Thanks, doesn't sound easy for a beginner, I might just leave that change for now (it isn't really worth it), handy information to know for the future, I had this vision of vastly expanding the Battlehorn Story to provide much more depth and history. Oh well, I guess it is back to learning for me!!
  6. I have the Battlehorn Castle, and since I am new at modding, I thought that I would just start out by creating a simple NPC for battlehorn castle. I just decided to create an seargeant for the barracks. The problem is, I can create my NPC and then I drag it into my render window, etc. It all looks fine, but when I save it and then try to run it, my oblivion doesn't start. I have looked at the mod, and since it adds to Battlehorn Castle, it should need both Oblivion.esm and DLCBattlehornCastle.esp as parents, how do I set the DLCBattlehornCastle as a parent? I thought it would do it automatically seeing as I have to load both oblivion.esm and DLCBattlehornCastle.esp when I open the construction set so that I can create my NPC. But it just doesn't want to set DLCBattlehornCastle as a parent. How do I do this??
  7. I've finally decided to learn about the construction set, and whilst I was poking my way around, I had an idea for a new quest mod. I definitely know that I cannot do all the work, although perhaps I may be able to do some of the building, NPC creation, etc, but definitely NOT quest scripting (I am hopeless at that!) Ok, so here are the basics (probably not very basic though) Introduction of a new faction: Shield of the White Tower (perhaps a different name?) The Shield of the White Tower is an Imperial (as in for the good of the empire) brotherhood (not necessarily all male either) dedicated to the protection of the empire. The Shield of the White Tower (referred to as SofWT for the rest of this) is essentially a secret service, covertly maintaining the balance of the empire. In contrast to the Blades, whose responsibility is that of the emperor's life, the SofWT is responsible for the enforcement of the Elder Council's will, in the issues of the empire's safety. Responsibility is to monitor and if needed, neutralize any threat to the empire, (or more necessarily the Elder Council's will) New locations: Several new SofWT locations will be added throughout the map, most often will look like abandoned farmhouses, etc, until the player obtains a key to enter and discover the true interior. New bandit base camps, caves, and perhaps a new world (contemplating creating a mission where the player sails to the bandit king's island headquarters) New NPC's: Sir Renalph von Traussen (or 'Trausse', as his comrades call him) - He is the leader of the faction, taking his orders directly from Gaurond, the Elder Council's member for the SofWT. Gaurand - Elder Council’s representative for the SofWT Amelia Traussen - Second in command, Renalph's daughter. Has proved her right to be second in command on many occasions Plus several other leader figures, fellow service members (planning to have squads of 3, player will be assigned to a squad) Main Storyline: Player receives a letter after awakening from sleep, detailing that they have proved themself to be an asset to Tamriel (need recommendations on pre-requisites, I want the character to have some level of fame, although I want the quest to be available from fairly early on). The letter says that for the player to learn more about how they can become something more for their beloved empire, to travel to the location indicated on the map (an abandoned farmhouse), and meet an undisclosed individual. Quest will follow the story of Grenor Vor Grosug's acension to power as the 'Bandit King'. He is an orc who manages to unite the bandits in an attempt to control Tamriel (sounds a bit overdramatic, perhaps a part of it at least). The player will have to gather information, neutralize important 'Bandit Alliance' members, and ultimately defeat Grenor Vor Grosug. Hopefully this sounds like a do-able thing, and something that would fit in with the rest of the game. Please comment, and tell me if you are interested. Thank you
