The only thing I can think of is that she's still walking back from where ever she was when she left your service, since I travel with Farkas and he will always manually walk back home after saying "I'm heading back home if you need me.". Try waiting a few extra hours and then checking the house Aela resides in when she's not with you, or even Jorrvaskr. I think your spouse heads back to the home you've moved them into if you've done so (for me, Farkas resides in Breezehome and can always be found there). I hope that helps. Also, Merry Christmas! :)

Like the title says, any facial texture mods that aims to smooth the face and make it younger don't appear to work on my character. I must have tried out most of these kinds of mods I could find (mods like Beauty Faces and YF4M), and tried installing them both manually and through the Nexus Mod Manager. Still nothing. :( I can get other mods such as the iWash mod and Enhanced Night Skyrim working just fine (through the NMM) so why I can't install facial texture mods is confusing me. I'm checking 'Load loose files', but I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I have the Steam version of Skyrim. Any help any of you can give is greatly appreciated (and I know it might not be enough information to go on). I'm loving the game, I just don't want my character looking like he's in his mid 40s. XD

The explanation of the quest is in spoiler tags, since it gives stuff away. It's just for those who may not want the quest-line spoiled if they haven't done so already. Okay! Vilkas approaches me, as he should, and automatically starts up a conversation and explains what he and I will be doing. Blood Honor completes... but Purity of Revenge doesn't get added like it should. Vilkas goes back to what he's doing, and talking to him yields nothing. and I can't interact with them (doing so just gets me the 'This person is busy' message on the top left hand corner of the screen). I initially think it's because I didn't do the optional objective, so I reload to before the caverns, lower the difficulty and clear out the caverns plus retrieve the heads. I go back but it still doesn't work. I do some research and find that the quest location shares itself with another quest location where you need to obtain the Helm of Winterhold for the Jarl in Winterhold. I've done this (though clearing that location might be a problem, I don't know) but still no results. I'm wondering if it would be possible to make a bug fix for those who are also having this problem (and I know there are people out there who are). It sounds like a simple bug fix and I do know one already exists (the one for Esbern), but I'm not a modder so for all I know, it could be harder than it sounds. Thanks! PS: Sorry for the big, long explanation.

I searched for a mod like this, but came up with nothing. For someone who likes to play Oblivion for roleplaying purposes, it seems a little strange to just randomly murder someone unprovoked to get into the Dark Brotherhood. Well... unless you're roleplaying a cold-blooded killer, that is. What I think would be good is a mod giving you the incentive to join the Dark Brotherhood. Perhaps what happened to Telaendril (the Bosmer member of the Dark Brotherhood who can be found outside the Sanctuary) could similarly happen to the PC. With Telaendril, she was originally a target for the Guild. Her father had put the contract on her head but she was able to escape from Lucien who came to kill her. She murdered her father and Lucien invited her into the Dark Brotherhood. With the PC, maybe his/her rising fame/infamy could attract some kind of negative attention and someone hires the Dark Brotherhood to kill him/her. After escaping/killing the assassin that comes, a quest could be added to your journal which has you track down the person who put the contract on your head. Killing said person would allow you to join the Dark Brotherhood.

Purchasing the DLCs when I own the GOTY Edition...
shaklee1 replied to shaklee1's topic in Oblivion's Discussion
Thanks for the quick response. I checked Amazon (which is what I usually use) and I did manage to find it very easily. They only sell it used, but I don't mind that. Even though I already have the KotN, it does contain all the DLCs. I'm just wondering if it's compatible with the Steam version I have. Chances are it is, but I don't want to be spending money on something that won't even work the way it should. -
I got the GOTY Edition of Oblivion from Steam at least a couple of years ago when it was on sale. This was before I was savvy with the DLCs and didn't know there were DLCs other than The Shivering Isles and Knights Of The Nine (which the GOTY Edition includes as opposed to the Deluxe Edition which has everything). For the last little while now, I've been wondering if it's possible to purchase the rest of the DLCs without splashing out for the Deluxe Edition, which - even though it would probably be worth it - seems sort of redundant to me. So, as the title states, I was wondering if it was possible to purchase the DLCs. I'm fully aware that they're available on the Bethesda Online Store but 1) I'm not sure if the DLCs are compatible with the Steam version, 2) I'm not sure how the DLCs are sent out even if they are compatible with Steam and 3) I'm not sure I could purchase them even if I wanted. In the FAQ on the Bethesda Online store, they say - and I quote - "We regret that we are unable to process orders with addresses outside of North America.". I live in Ireland. I'm pretty sure there isn't a way to get my hands on the DLCs without splashing out for the Deluxe Edition, but if there is another way then I would be a happy girl. EDIT: And for some reason, Steam is saying I own the Deluxe Edition even though I'm absolutely sure I don't. When I check the data files, the .esps and/or .esms for the other DLCs aren't there, so I think Steam is a bit confused on that one.

Thanks for the article bben46. I'll bookmark it for current and future use. :) I was thinking of reverting back to the vanilla Oblivion (while keeping Ren's Beauty Pack since my character uses that. A bit annoying, but I've reinstalled the game/mods quite a few times before) and seeing if that solves the problem. If not, then I'll refer to the article and see if that helps.

As the title says, Oblivion seems to crash when combat starts (although I'm not entirely sure if this is the case). So far, it's crashed four times (from time to time, the game will crash on me, but it usually works just fine afterwards and I continue playing). I'm not sure if the first crash involved combat, but the second crash happened when a bandit detected me. Then the final two crashes happened when I was fighting (or about to fight) a wolf. The game crashed when it detected me, and on the other I fired a spell at it before it detected me and then it crashed. I don't think I have any mods that alter combat and could be causing it to crash, though I could be wrong. Or it could simply because I have too many mods. If anyone could offer any advice or help me solve this, I'll be so grateful. Also, here's the load order of my mods in case it has anything to do with conflicts or something...

The readme already provides excellent and detailed instructions on how to install OBSE depending on what version of Oblivion you have (either the retail version on CD or the version of Oblivion that you can purchase from Steam). Just open up "obse_readme" (which is in the obse folder you downloaded from the site) and scroll down until you find "[ Installation ]" (you don't even have to scroll down very much as they can be found under the release additions near the top). After you find the installation instructions, you should have no trouble getting OBSE to run.

A mod for putting one handed weapon on your back already exists, found here... http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24541 ... it requires the "Addon for Shield on Back v31" mod (download link can be found in the description) and OBSE v0015++ (download link also found in the description), but it gives you the ability the sheath one handed weapons on your back like a claymore. I have it and it works great.

I was in the middle of the Order Of The Virtuous Blood quest and was inside Roland's house when I activated the handbill on the table. Immediately I get a CTD (with an error) but I think nothing of it. So I open up Oblivion again and decide to get on with the quest. I activate Relfina's Letter and, whoops! Another CTD. To see how far it goes, I open up Oblivion again and activate the shopping list sitting next to the handbill. Of course, I get another CTD. I don't know if it's confined to the Order Of The Virtuous Blood quest but if it is then I can probably use a console command to skip to the next stage of the quest. If not... then I don't know what I'll do. EDIT: The CTDs don't seem confined to the quest. Activating the Grey Fox Wanted Power in the Temple District also causes a crash, as does activating books in my inventory. =( EDITEDIT: I managed to fix the problem. Feel free to let this thread die.

Recently I have been looking into writing scripts that will allow a CM Companion to mount a horse when you do. Travelling from one end of Cyrodiil to the other with companions would be faster if you didn't have to stop and wait for your companions to catch up if you're travelling by horse. I was having a look at the "NPC, Horses, and you" tutorial on The Elder Scrolls Construction Set Wiki and even had a go at it earlier, but the script was having a problem with the line "addScriptPackage followOnFoot", telling me it couldn't find said package (I copied and pasted the entire script, so there was no way I could have made a mistake). The tutorial seems ideal for what I'm looking for if I can get by the problem mentioned above, but I was wondering if there was any other way to get a CM Companion to mount horses when the player does. I know there are companions out there that already have these scripts (such as Vilja), so obviously it is possible (though most likely a bit complicated).

The Oblivion folder is located in Steam/steamapps/common, not Steam/steamapps/(your username). It seems that games such as the Half Life Series and Team Fortress 2 are located in the latter folder, while games such as Morrowind, Oblivion, Assassin's Creed .etc. are located in the former. EDIT: My mistake, didn't see that you got your problem solved.

Custom CM Companion making save game crash.
shaklee1 replied to shaklee1's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I didn't have any unwanted masters, and I had checked everything that my companion required to work. However, I managed to get my companion working again. She uses my own custom made race (as does the character that I play) and I had converted the .esp of that race to an .esm file in Wrye Bash. Keeping it as an .esm as I loaded up my save game, that solved the problem. Thank you very much for your help, Hickory. I greatly appreciate your help. :) I'll remember your advice for any future mods I might make that would might end up causing errors. -
As the title says, I'm having problems with my CM Companion. The game runs fine up until I get to the main menu and load my current save, at which point the game crashes with an error saying that Oblivion has stopped working. My save game runs fine when I uncheck my companion's plugin file in the data files, so I know it's this that's causing problems. It wouldn't usually stump me like this, but my CM Companion was working fine up until I lowered her responsibility (so she wouldn't suddenly start attacking me when I attacked someone unprovoked). I can't see a reason why lowering her responsibility would cause a CTD. Any help at all is appreciated, because I would really like to get her back up and running.

I'm not sure if this would work since I haven't tried it myself, but you could possibily give your CM Companion the Porphyric Hemophilia disease (the one that changes you into a Vampire after 3 days). Or if you had COBL races (comes with the COBL download), you could load it into your mod (by File -> Data then checking the COBL master file and the COBL races plugin) that adds in the extra races and selecting the VampireRace in the race list of your companion (though I don't know if doing it this way would add the Vampire special abilities). The latter is what I've done for my companion, while she doesn't have a race from COBL races, she has hair from that plugin (it also adds in eyes and hair as well as races). Like I said, I don't know if it would work for you since I'm not an expert at modding and I haven't tried it myself, but I have done about 3 companions in the past so it might be of some help.

Swapping out Grey Fox Wanted Image w/ another?
shaklee1 replied to davidx4's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I was unable to find the texture (it's probably in Oblivion's texture BSA - in which case you'll need a BSA extractor. How to replace the .dds file, however, I don't know), but as for .dds plugins for Photoshop, you have to download it and put it in the right folder. You can use GIMP to alter .dds files as well, and that requires the .dds plugin to be downloaded also. -
No, you can't make your own unfortunately. It sort of makes sense really, as when you choose your name, the Battle Matron - Ysabel Andronicus - actually mentions your title, as does the announcer every time you walk into the arena. I would imagine it would be incredibly to have the voice actors voice EVERY single possible title if the player were to create his or her own title. I mean, when you create your class at the start (where Baurus believes you're an experienced something-or-other and you can either say yes, pick from a list of classes or create your own class), it's not like anyone mentions your class in voiced dialogue. All it is is words on a screen. It'd be cool if someone could mod this little feature that would allow the player to create his or her own title. I don't know, perhaps it could use universal silent MP3s.

The Oblivion Face Totality Pack offers many preset male and female characters of vanilla and modded races. You might find something good there. It can be found here. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11617

I've never come across him on the bridge out of the IC either anyway. His name doesn't come up on uesp.net so I'm going to agree with LFact and say he's from a mod. Which mod though - if any - I don't know.

I have Steam GOTY Edition and the mods I download work just fine for me. You just put them inside Steam/steamapps/common/oblivion/Data. Even OBSE works for the Steam GOTY Edition, the readme tells you how to install it for that anyway.

Thanks, I'll have a look and see if I find any I like. :) EDIT by LHammonds: If yours is the last post in the thread, please use the EDIT button instead of double-posting with an additional reply. Thanks.

Yeah, I have a backup file like that.

Bumping because it fell off the first page and hoping someone may be still able to help. lol
