  1. -Wasder: Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution - They Provide The Paint ..dude! This started and I'm like, 'huh, this is "awesome"? Is he serious?' So, the vocals start and I kind of shrug and think 'okay there are vocals in here.' Then, 45 seconds in and things change again and my eyebrows go up. By 1:10 my head is bopping to the beat. I'm on my feet at 1:44. Things pick up at 1:55 and..well..clothes start coming off. Haha. So, yeah, that is a fun and 'awesome' song. Thanks Wasder! : ) Bandits Of The Acoustic Revolution - It's A Wonderful Life ..so then I found this of theirs. It takes me back to music in my childhood..which makes me happy and at the same time I can feel tears building. Wow..great band! : ) -Kitten
  2. Was it necessary to use that epithet to phrase your view of said artist? I'm not trying to censure your mode of speech, but hoping we can share friendlier intercourse. -SWAT_WaLkAwaY:- Pink - Please Don't Leave Me ..love isn't always roses and blue skies. Sometimes it can be too painful and yet letting go equally impossible to live with.. The Legendary Pink Dots - Rainbows Too? A rock can be a hard place when you're in between the nagging of a restless sea, a sorry sky, a darkening horizon.. When the one voice you can hear is just your own, innocently thrown back by a gale that's so d_mn angry nothing sails, nothing dares - except my endless love for you. Sing for me my siren. I am far away but know that I can hear you. Here it's calmer. Here it's clear - it's Christmas on the Moon.. But still it's just another rock, wrapped up inside a fancy box that's just like all the others. Time to throw back all the covers - time to fly! Cast away the rock that weighs you down. It's time to fly. -Kitten
  3. -Fifoo:- Front 242! ..haha, nice! I haven't played them in, gosh, some time. And, of course, say Richard Jonckheere and my mind will race to the Revolting Cocks. Revolting Cocks - Union Carbide (sorry no vids found) ..my favourite Revco song. Perhaps it helped me to quantify and purge the frustration, anger, and sadness caused by the events relating to the city of Bhopal vs Union Carbide. Critics say the Revcos are just 'noisy'. But, sometimes life can call for a little noise.. -Pushkatu:- Sisu Si Puya - Foame De Bani ..good stuff, thanks Pushkatu. So, umm, this was them 'dissing' B.U.G. Mafia (with no response)? Can you tell us more about them and why you like their music Pushkatu? Research can only take us so far.. -Illiad86 - Catamenia - Kuolon Tanssi ..but you have a lovely singing voice Illiad86. : ) Severed Heads - Petrol ..'I drive a Lamborghini..I stop for petrol..' Fifoo, did you know that Severed Heads once toured with Skinny Puppy? Million dollar pig junior - You're my Bangladesh I'm crazy dynamite - I'm the cactus man I drive a Lambourghini - I stop for petrol You mangle my pig junior - There's tornadoes in Spain I'm alone tonight - I'm the cactus man I drive a Lambourghini - I stop for petrol Mangle my pig junior - Mangle my pig junior - So far away - So far away.. Underworld - (Everything, Everything)..gee how do you follow up 'crazy, crazy, crazy, crazy..'? Karsh Kale - (Live)..enjoy the day my friends, -Venetia P.S. My very good friends sometimes call me Kitten. Well, the biteable ones..
  4. -Fifoo:Humate - Love Stimulation (Tom Middleton Remodel) & Tom Middleton - Moonbathing ..I tend to step around trace techno, but for you my dear Fifoo I closed my eyes and tried to appreciate.. -Fifoo: Frontline Assembly - Prophecy .. did you throw them in for fear my tastes would not run to Tom Middleton? Hehe. On the other hand, if you like FLA how about.. Skinny Puppy - Live..mm that just has to be followed up by something serious.. Ministry - So What ..let's ease out of that with.. Skinny Puppy - ..I couldn't find the Tear Garden version of this so no vocals.. -Kitten P.S. Someone should see if Skaargoroth needs food or water. ; ) P.P.S. Meanwhile Illiad86 can belt out some Insomnium for us..
  5. - An excellent observation, The Him. Of course sometimes such artists do find a means, if secondary, to participate in more current music production. What also intrigues me of such artists is how they were able to harness the technology of the day to weave new perspectives and progressions. Speaking of which.. Colourbox - Sleepwalker Colourbox - Just Give Em Whiskey ..this track has samples of everyone from Joan Collins and Ronald Reagan to Patrick McGoohan (The Prisoner)..even that great science fiction film The Andromeda Strain (1971) makes a brief appearance.. Colourbox - Colourbox - The Moon Is Blue ..sing this with me? : ) Feel these hands that Shake this world Then try to understand When the light shines down And the time goes slowly When my mind's in the dusk Scorched and dying There's a pain in my hand Inscribed to the sad and lonely Now I feel so cold and alone Thinking how long Now if you had told me She'll be coming back And if you had told me The clock was gonna fall And if you had shown me Some affection I would have believed you Don't tell me the moon is blue (now you've let me go) Coz tonight it's over (now you've let me go) Now the pain is in the dust (now you've let me go) And you can't find your blue moon (now you've let me go) Now it's over, oh Tonight it's over The pain was a shot One, that couldn't be both ways And tore my world apart I could have feeled that moon so deep But you wouldn't understand Don't tell me the moon is blue (now you've let me go) Coz tonight it's over (now you've let me go) Now the pain's in the dust (now you've let me go) And you can't find your blue moon (now you've let me go) Now it's over, oh Tonight it's over, ooh Tonight it's over, oh Over Tonight it's over, ooh Ooh Tonight it's over Oh oh over Colourbox - Looks Like We're Shy One Horse Charles Bronson: '..you brought two too many..' haha : ) ..and almost to prove your point The Him, Colourbox eventually morphed into being M/A/A/R/S. This latter effort had huge early success, but due to their big hit being almost completely made of samples it all ended in litigation and tears. M/A/A/R/S - Pump Up The Volume ..a tad commercial that one..but we can end with another gig Steven Young and Martyn Young (Colourbox) used to drop in on.. This Mortal Coil - -Kitten P.S. I hope my long posts in what usually is a quickie type thread aren't causing distress. : \
  6. Were you really concerned for your rating or was that just a way to lead into a potentially sticky post? Also, we are organic and animal in nature. Sex is part of our reason for being. Friendship often has some basis in sexual attraction. That the roles or perception of women in society can be limited to just one aspest of their nature is where problems can begin. Having said that, I will agree that perhaps Dezi's post on emotional intelligence, as it relates to achieving a healthy sexual lifestyle, was a bit bracing in its sudden departure from the usual tangents of this thread. And, while I can admire your energy and dramatic flair in resisting those points made, perhaps shouting was a tad unfair. By the by, Species5478, you are devastatingly pretty when a frown and pout take presence upon your countenance. Yet it is when you deign a single smile be set free that the very sun is but as a candle to your beauty and charm. ; ) Are you very sure that emotion controls every aspect of our existence? Were I to hold a katana to your neck, would you flinch in fear or get on with finishing your latest poem? My own feeling is that people play games (video or otherwise) for differing reasons. Some instances as listed by you, Dezi, and other cases that may pertain more to the individual. Be that as it may, however, I do compliment you on lightly dancing away from a lonely spot. Although, and in fairness, you could speak more as to just how sex, achieving orgasm, and emotional intelligence relate to the topic at hand. Or, we could all just nod, smile, giggle a little to ease any tension and return to safer waters. And, dearest amazon Dezi, can we leave some of the males alive, please? Hahaha. -Kitten
  7. -The Him: - Joy Division and New Order.. ..Oh, I expected you to know those tracks, The Him. I'm glad you brought up the difficulty New Order (as a group) had with gaining separation from the success and imprint of Joy Division. I wasn't always so keen on the directions New Order would embrace in that pursuit. For example, I've never much cared for Blue Monday as a song. ..the 80's club scene in Mtl for me was about hearing music on a great system. Most clubs had terrible equipment, worse acoustics, or would just leave you deafened for a good hour afterward..however fashion and the girls were fun.. : ) ..but back to 'feeling ancient' and how some 80's bands experimented with genres as they shaped their own sound, do you know or remember Tackhead? Those were the days of Adrian Sherwood, Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald, and my absolute fav Keith Leblanc. Known as Tackhead, The Maffia, or Fats Comet they pushed limits in a way that, to me, New Order, The Smiths, The Cure, etc., did not. ..so old things new again.. Tackhead - Keith Leblanc - Split The Planet -Kitten
  8. New Order - New Order - ..Joy Division and New Order were great bands. I'd dance to Bizarre Love Triangle (New Order) at a club called Business in Montreal somewhere in the mid 80's. Outside the club, my girl friends would sing True Faith (New Order) religiously and endlessly. I'd escape after the fifth rendition to another club called Les Foufounes Électriques and have my eardrums assaulted by The Sisters of Mercy or Ministry. I haven't listened to New Order much since the remix version of Confusion from the movie Blade. And what a great opening and 'club' scene that was. haha..memories.. The Chameleons UK - (Live) -Kitten
  9. - The Him:- Fever Ray - When I Grow Up ..you are too kind, The Him. Thank-you for causing me to research Fever Ray, The Knife, and Honey is Cool. All held interesting aspects in musical influences and progression within songs.. ..and for you The Him.. HIM - Buried Alive By Love ..such a pretty boy.. wait did I mean HIM or you. ; ) -Kitten
  10. -Fifoo! Are you also a fan of Orbital? Shall we combine being a fan of..ahem..something and liking Orbital? And just how do you say 'Doctor!' : ) Dr. Who - Original Theme (Ron Grainer) Orbital - Dr. Who ..is it safe to come out from behind the couch? ..yeah, but you may still lose your mind...wooooo! Orbital - Dr. Who ( out!) ..well, you're out now..may as well dance! : ) Orbital - -Kitten P.S. Sorry, I'm a huge fan of Orbital and a certain Lord of Time. P.P.S. I had to include one . This has an Industrial feel and you know me and Industrial bands from Sheffield. No? Well, yeah. Hehe. : )
  11. Autechre - Bike ..will you share these moments with me.. Autechre - ..to be aware of one's life and still smile for the adventure continues.. Autechre - ..breathe and savour and feel as we linger in a kiss.. Autechre - ..mingled hearts merging into a single cadence..single reality.. Autechre - Doctrine ..separation comes; but as you don the clothing of identity, keep safe this vision revealed.. Autechre - ..let wait that final step at the horizon's edge to smile and brush again your fingertips to me.. -Kitten P.S. Well, have to reach into the Void sometimes. Never know, an echo may sound. P.P.S. Fifoo, your last two music posts bespeak a romantic. Hopefully you are enjoying the day, yes?
  12. Keanumoreira: 'If you could create your own realm, what would it be?' Venetia: 'You have a cute smile.' Keanumoreira: 'If you could be one mythical creature what would it be?' Venetia: 'Your courage is admirable.' Keanumoreira: 'If you could keep one of the five senses what would it be?' Venetia: 'Take what you will.' Keanumoreira: 'If you could bring back one person from the past who would it be?' Venetia: 'Venetia, the child, walks by herself.' Keanumoreira: 'If you could gain one power what would it be?' Venetia: 'A better appreciation of your smile.' -Kitten P.S. As vision is your preferred sense, Keanumoreira, what do you see from the responses to this thread?
  13. You have squarely hit upon the troubling aspect of this. For, though I have blocked several people for the very same reasons, each one slightly diminishes the hope of finding gamers who merely wish to play and treat each other with respect. It's as though that medium is meant to be a quagmire of low behaviour. I absolutely agree with your sentiment that winning doesn't have to serve as sole or primary reason for having played. I'm a former tournament badminton player & coach (among other sports). It can often happen that recreational or lesser skilled club players, thinking their level too low to hold my interest, will shy away. And, you know, those are the matches that can mean a great deal to me. By playing together, and possibly even losing to them, we remain colleagues in sport. Fun and shared experiences being the order of the day rather than just keeping to one's clique. You know, in truth, badminton players tend to be social and accepting of how a match may go. We may start a match as complete strangers and yet by its end, leave the court as friends. This to me..gosh..I'm welling up..but this is of so much more value than mere victory. I am able and can win. I have earned my level and know this. But, can I earn your friendship. This is becoming a ramble..but as I am already on badminton, I hope the members here will forgive a tiny deviation. During the years when I used to play at my old university gym, among the more recreational players was a fellow who was really challenged. He tended to play men's doubles and often would be defeated by other teams. Aside from being of cheerful disposition, open to well meaning suggestion or tips, there was something other about this man. At some point during the evening he would try to return a smash while performing a cartwheel. Umm, yep. That's not badminton and the chances of such a stroke working were next to nil. The years went by and he perservered with his unique shot attempt. We thought him mad , but accepted him nonethless. Would you believe that one day, against one of the gym's best players and biggest smashers he performed his cartwheel return to perfection and scored a winner! I tell you all action on every court instantly stopped to give him a hearty cheer for having achieved his goal. And everyone ran up to celebrate the triumph. This is sport. This is the sort of camaraderie...we took pride in him that day. Not that any of us would ever attempt to duplicate the feat mind. But,I long to find this in world of gaming. Where I have found it is here at Nexus. A place of creative intellects and well meaning colleagues who seem more interested in sharing and shared experience than domination or persecution. On that note, I will end this ramble. P.S. Rob_B, know that your kind words have brought another of my smiles to the fore. Please accept my thanks for your aptly phrased comments.
  14. Ahem, gosh, thanks Fifoo. Dezdimona you are very kind. I will send my thanks through PM to your account. Now, let's scoot along before anyone is further put to the blush. : ) -Kitten
