  1. To turns lights off from 7am - 7pm - make all lights persistent refs - set all lights to be children of just one of them, let's call this parent one Light01REF Script on that light would be: scn scriptnamehere Begin GameMode if GetCurrentTime > 7 && GetCurrentTime < 19 Light01REF.Disable elseIf GetCurrentTime < 7 || GetCurrentTime > 19 Light01REF.Enable endIf End Should work. Might be a more elegant way.
  2. Have you raised the priority of your greeting? Even if your conditions are being met, there may be vanilla greetings that also meet their conditions and are overwriting it. Using the AddScriptPackage command should force the package to run, no matter what. Last thing, you may be testing incorrectly, loading a save after the trigger would be met or the dialog added. Try it from a completely clean save. Had that issue myself recently. As for Keely's variable, I'm not entirely sure. It may not be anything if that quest isn't start game enabled.
  3. Abhorrent. Shame on all who signed up for this. Modding community is based on collaboration - in skills, knowledge and assets. Will never pay or charge a penny for a mod. I don't even care about Valves cut or how badly this has been implemented - it's the sheer principal of it. The very theory of paid modding is disgusting, never mind how it's been put into practice. That's irrelevant. I wave the warning - shame on all modders who signed up for this, the community has rejected you, you are done.
  4. Oh without a doubt - companions are extremely quick and easy to build, but if you wanna make something great, you're gonna be writing for weeks, constantly second guessing and rewriting entire sections as you think of new ideas. Well, good luck.
  5. The way you've laid it out sounds solid. Many people who make mods like this cut up the original voice files and arrange them into new ones, you can be pretty creative with them. Technically it's a very easy thing to do, don't know how much you already know but this is the best guide on creating companions - http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45278/? Look into trigger boxes for creating locational based dialog, they're magical things. You can also add lines to be played by simply slotting Say command lines into existing quest scripts - I've played with this quite a bit and it's never broken anything.
  6. Well, it isn't, what exactly the "mafia" is is up in the air when 90% of factions in Fallout resemble some sort of mafia. Mafias are just criminal gangs, groups of men who don't fear authority and are willing to take the risks to get what they want. Suits are not intertwined with that, they were worn by Italian/Sicilian criminal groups in the US as they were fit for purpose at the time, I'm just wondering whether a group operating under completely different circumstances in a completely different time facing completely different challenges might opt for something else. Ignore the suits, they don't matter, if you want it blunt - this doesn't seem very well thought out at all. You're free to do as you like but if you want to be the next Project Brazil or Frontier, I would highly recommend scaling it back for now until you have something concise down. I'm very serious about this, https://docs.google.com/a/maine207south.org/document/d/1yBgvNTvLtuCUhKi4rpUNKXBbH-bkdrsMoxfFwFnMYsw/edit that is the written script so far. and i dont like it when u just ask questions that are no where near about the mod. Plus fallout is a futuristic 1950's, ratpack, Frank Sinatra, and back then EVERYONE WOULD WEAR SUITS. You linked a private doc. I'm just trying to help, you're obviously completely unwilling to take advice or shift your view on anything, and the fact that you're this quick to anger over a few simple queries tells me you're incapable of taking advice on board or being an effective communicator, both of which are absolutely required when you wish to lead a team of the size that you will need. Best of luck I guess. are u kidding, the first thing u did was asking questions that were the smallest details ever. just to put me down, then u tried to pick me up by saying that your helping. For example, i walk up to someone. "Your fat. You should work out. Just helping you out." just being a jerk. Stop being meek and perpetually offended, that's the business of teenage girls, not of supposed leaders. You've been given straight answers, you can either sit here and whine about people being honest with you or you can take the advice on board and go actually do something. Listen to what Uno said - take one small part of what you want to do, and do it really well. Then come back and showcase it. Until such a time, this mod of yours is 100% not happening. I'm sorry, it just isn't. If I wanted that to be the case, I wouldn't have bothered replying in the first place, as the outcome would've been the same. Stop with your infantile replies, open the GECK, do something. Do not return until you have something to show. I will be waiting. And these annoying questions? They're meant to promote critical thinking. The suits are just an example - why is everyone wearing them, because the guys in Scarface did? Think about it, ponder over whether it's the best approach and adapt your work based on what you come up with. Leaders must do this. Everyone wearing suits for the sake of suits seemed like a really dumb idea - I questioned you over it and all you can come up with is "it's obvious mafia guys wear suits." You have to be the absolute best in order to make a mod of this scale, your aforementioned behavior points to the contrary.

  9. I'm looking for a range of voice actors who have the ability to record combat related dialog. Any sex, age, race, accent, doesn't matter - what I need is people who can really put everything into a line, who can shout, scream, war cry and slowly bleed to death over the mic. If you're interested drop me a message. Demos preferred but don't worry if you don't have one. Even if you're new to voice acting, but think you have the stones to do this kinda stuff, I will work with you to get it right. I guarantee that working with me will be worth your time.
  10. "The setting is in a huge slave run mafia land." Where? "They all dress like the Omerta's or people from the Tops." Why? Are suits either common or practical in the wasteland? Every huge mod undertaken after a flash of inspiration is a noble pursuit but as a person who is frequently approached to try and be recruited for these kinds of things, you need more meat before looking for other team members. What you have here is a concept surrounding the idea that you're gonna pit underdog good guys vs corrupt bad guys in a land with some towns and shops and quests, into which the player is inadvertently thrust. This is the absolute bare bones of a story/setting - I'm not saying it's bad because it's unoriginal, it's certainly a concept that has worked hundreds of thousands of times before - I'm saying there's just not enough there to inspire anybody to join. I post this because I want you to succeed, not because I want you to give up - don't cling to this non-concept which is so prevalent in many forms of media that it's almost a trope. Start smaller, think of something new, something clever, that hasn't been done before, and do it to the best of your abilities. Doesn't matter how small it is, just make it as well as you possibly can, put everything into it. Once you have it, use that as your concept, and post it here. Others will see that you have the skills, drive and creativity to lead them into creating something great, and they will join. This is something that absolutely nobody who has previously desired to start one these enormous projects has ever done, at least the numerous that have approached me (they all bore messages very similar to yours) and they all failed.
  11. I have been having issues with all of these things, combat styles was another big one but I thought it was maybe completely borked as neither Bethesda nor Obsidian made creative use of them.
  12. @Mish - this bug was identified and the solution found fairly early on in the modding life of FO3. There was at least one giant thread about it over in the FO3 Geck Beth Forums, but I can't find it. The search function over there has been torpedoed by somebody and it's nearly impossible to find anything over there any more. Unfortunate, I'd really like to know what was causing it. Converting to an .esm is not perfect, but more than acceptable. I found it really strange that I could find no information regarding it. Maybe my google-fu is getting rusty.
  13. It works! God knows how but it works - converting to an .esm alleviated all issues. I'd still like to get to the bottom of what was happening but... hell, it works. Sincere thanks to all posters and everyone who decided to message me instead of posting here, in one afternoon a problem that has been halting me for two months solved. Well, back to the grind of the GECK.
  14. It all sounds plausible, the only thing is the fact that it does work flawlessly the first time only. After that the game requires a reset, even flicking between saves in an attempt to clear the cache does nothing. I'll give it a try anyway and see what happens.
