    SKSE

In theory, it is just a recompile on a 64 bit compiler - but theory is often an educated guess, and RL is often completely different? I wonder what happened to slam the brakes on this effort? Being a high level language, I would've expected memory management to be under the hood, for example. It should have been transparent to SKSE, but maybe Skyrim memory management issues are the reason why Skyrim SE took so long to come out. Apparently it is not so simple to port, or it would have been done already. I know this is just a benign form of trolling, but anyone care to speculate on what kinds of technical roadblocks they could have run into?

    SKSE

I see work on F4SE as a very positive sign for the development of SKSE64. The team seems to have gotten stuck implementing F4SE script functions and starting on SKSE64 might have given them a new perspective. One of the team members has a preference for the Fallout series so is working on it. The others might be waiting so they can make use of what he learns before continuing work on SKSE64. The Fallout 4 fans have been waiting longer than the Skyrim SE crowd (and Skyrim fans still have the Legendary edition with a working SKSE) so it makes perfect sense to me that they might give F4SE a bit of attention before getting back to SKSE64. Work progressing on either of those two new 64 bit extenders is effectively work progressing on both since anything learned while working on one will make re-implementing the same idea on the other that much easier. As a software developer, I have to agree. They can make all the mistakes on F4SE and avoid them on SKSE64. :D
  3. I'm looking forward to the ground up rewrite. Poor NMM was maxed out a while ago. :)
  4. Super-awesome! We finally have a dedicated, customer-facing member of the staff. This responsibility really needed to be delegated. Welcome!
  5. In response to post #26464079. #26468539, #26472754, #26473564, #26474444, #26474639, #26475714, #26478409, #26490274 are all replies on the same post. Yes! They are working again, and thanks for finding a way to revive this functionality without reviving the horrid forum response times. I gather it took a surgeon's scalpel to do this. Furthermore, I know it wasn't an easy task or it would have been done this way in the first place. I imagine the first effort was (after what, days, weeks?), "I have narrowed it down to this part of the forum code, but it's way too complicated to narrow it down any further." But with the complaints, you decided to actually dive into the mess and figure out if you could actually separate this functionality from the actual issue - and you have. So many thanks to you for taking the time to sort through the mess and remove the tumor without sacrificing too much of the tissue around it! :)
  6. In response to post #26431284. #26433489, #26433729 are all replies on the same post. I hope you didn't have my posts in mind when you entered this response. I stated my observations and at least offered some alternatives as I thought about them. Granted I had no idea whether or not they would work, but I hate complaining about something without having some sort of solution in mind.
  7. In response to post #26362194. #26382179, #26396329 are all replies on the same post. I would even settle for an email notification. EVERY forum that I know of has at least that capability. Even an RSS feed...
  8. In response to post #26362194. RIP "Content You Follow." I used this feature to easily keep track of which mods I followed had new posts. I had several pages of "Content I Followed" and some of them had new stuff only maybe once a week or maybe a few times a month - but they still important because it was invariably someone who had recently discovered the mod and had a few questions that I could answer easily for them. It is very inconvenient that now I have to go to each mod page to see if there are new posts instead of having a bot do it for me. (I had three pages of stuff I was following.) This seemed to blindside a lot of users. One thing I learned as a developer was that if you were going to take a feature out, you would ask around because invariably users are going to be using your product in unexpected ways. In a classic case of 20/20 hindsight, it might have been helpful to ask around before making the changes. Granted, the changes would probably still have be made, but it would've made for a smoother transition for the users instead of having to shift without a clutch.
  9. After hearing your latest woes last night, I will never, EVER complain about my ISP EVER AGAIN.
  10. When I first came across it today, I was surprised. This is a good idea, but I think you should probably add check boxes in the dialog to either disable the feature for the mod (at least until the requirements change) or disable the feature globally. You can then turn it back on - globally - in your prefs. I understand it will be a lot more complicated than it sounds.
  11. Well, the manually downloading myth is a little bit true, actually. If you're having trouble with the NMM button, sometimes it means you can't connect to the server, so if you then download it manually, sometimes it can't gather the info. Then if you install it, it shows up as "unassigned" and it won't know it's an update. (This could also happen using the NMM button, but it is pretty rare.) At this time you will also note that your "Checks for new mods" button doesn't work right, either. If you watch carefully, you'll see that it sits around for a bit, the progress bar never updates, and then it just closes the window. If you weren't watching, you might think it just didn't find anything. So really, if Nexus is running smoothly the file info gets updated accordingly. If not, you might experience the myth. That being said, we may never have that issue ever again due to the hard work of the people around here, so maybe it really will become a myth after all. :) GREAT WORK, GUYS!!!
  12. To tell you the truth, I don't even pay attention to the "beta" status of this product. I just figured it will be done when it is done. Basically it does what it sets out to do. I can't ask for more. Keep up the great work!
  13. Well, you know people get annoyed at the one-lane road construction on the highway, forgetting that after the mess it will be six lanes in each direction instead of two.
  14. In response to post #10767450. If you're talking about NMM and have a version older than 0.46.0 then you have to manually update it by clicking on the link at the top of the web site.
