  1. I typically bought these games when they came out on console. Years back there was far more upheaval in hardware requirements than there has been the last few years. I still have a few consoles and pcs from a decade ago. Having finally built a good pc there's absolutely a difference but my decade old pcs are obsolete with no usable components outside of their hard drives and connectors. After FO4 I'm not sure... Probably won't again. While it was nice that they focused on their lore-unique items, they left an enormous void prior to mods atop the small feeling and the clumsy creation feel the game has not just in the settlements but throughout the map with glaring issues many places. Frankly you have an enormous community that is incredibly diverse. Cannot imagine it's a part-time gig running the strings to keep it in line. I can't help but think that unfortunately these larger companies end up with lower staffs and with more difficulty creating comprehensive fair plans for dealing with content being used against permission. Hopefully Bethesda is able to get their act together. There's a lot that most people will want to do, much that people won't care about, and more that basically everyone will do. There's also what nobody will condone and what cannot be tolerated as well though, and not cracking down on it quickly and decisively will not do them favors. Some larger file hosts have successfully not cared for years- but for a publisher/developer to have stolen or obscenely explicit content on their site for long can't be tolerated for long. I hope that word choice conveys it well- obscenely explicit since it is a mature game, is rated for having intense violence and sexual themes but there are boundaries beyond legal and reasonable moral standards. Unfortunately, in this day and age too many people do not understand "because I don’t want to and because I can do whatever I want and you have no right to tell me what to do" is still so very true and relevant to others as well as themselves.
  2. Thanks for clarifying the splits- it's been very muddled and 4x% Beth, 30% Steam, 25% modder is as far as one has com to being solid. I didn't like how part of that started to seem to edge pretty well to buy more mods on steam so the Nexus can get 5% and the modders can get 25%. Seems like it should have been more quickly followed by the superior alternative. I understand feeling that modding should have free access but shouldn't go without compensation. I think a donate button up above the title/description isn't outrageous. This doesn't necessarily mean that I'll donate. Doesn't mean I'll subscribe. Yeah, I might be and probably am in that sect that will always follow free modding wherever the site. But that doesn't mean it should be hard to use either. Whether people like it or not, the future of free modding will probably depend on people paying for the servers. Every year more and more free access servers go down and more restrictions are emplaced.
  3. In response to post #24608634. #24609314, #24612079, #24612614, #24613089, #24618249 are all replies on the same post. It seems like at best it may create another system that rewards flooding of small mods for money. At worst- it may severely degrade the community as it is now and we may not see great, expansive massively multi-functional mods when people want to avoid others' work or keep theirs from being sold. I wish I could think that modders being guaranteed pay for a download would guarantee improvement and bug-fix but more likely the case will be the opposite, that fewer modders will be downloading and using the new version which could possibly lead to outside improvements.
