I'm happy to see this animosity between LL and the Nexus is finally over. Look people we have to take some words of wisdom from Totalbiscuit on this issue. If there's something you don't like then its a simple matter of NOT DOWNLOADING IT. Going to the ideal of, "well I think its offensive to me so I feel it should be denied to everyone because MY FEELS," is not being rational. Matter of fact that's being rather selfish and authoritarian; you're trying impose your own ideology because YOU think its right. I'm sorry if I offend you saying this but no; you have no right to enforce a system some people may not want it. You may think its just, but morally it isn't right. You're infringing on peoples basic ideals of choosing their own path, that almost makes you as bad as some extremist religions, forcing ideological ideals down peoples throats simply for that morbid sense of domination and control. There are some REALLY REALLY good mods at LoversLab, some are not all adult themed. Potion retextures, model retextures, performance improvements and a host of other mods that make playing Skyrim and even Fallout 4 a more enjoyable experience (and this is coming from someone who was a little disgusted with Fallout 4, I personally think its severely lacking in the RPG department). There are sections for adult and non-adult pertaining to these games. For those offended by the adult theme its a simple matter of NOT GOING THERE. It's okay to not like things, but don't assume EVERYBODY agrees with you. We're better than that people, we live in a free society to go where we wish, when we wish and with as many as we wish and whatever ideal we wish. Assuming you have the authority to tell people something is wrong and denying it to them is not only immoral, but inhuman. -
I know you all mean well with this update but I'm sorry to report it has caused me no end of grief. I usually just let NMM update and go with it (was playing New Vegas) but when the option came up to reinstall I was nervous about it but did it anyways. It bugged New Vegas so much (certain mods across the board were tailored in a way specific to my playthroughs) that the save file became corrupt to say nothing of the mods I was initially using. I had to uninstall New Vegas and start all over again. Now when I try and play Skyrim it gives me the same option. Again I have tailored certain mods (new races, different racials and different abilities) that doing so will completely destroy my current save. I could in theory save the whole Skyrim file, let it do its reinstall and hope the copy/paste fixes everything but its still a hassle. I've tailored my Skyrim specifically that reinstalling the mods will undo all my meticulous work. I'll be switching to Mod Organizer in the meantime until you guys can fix this issue. At the very least please make the reinstall/uninstall optional not mandatory for the update. I know it was an update but to be perfectly honest it did nothing other than aggravate my migraine. I know what you're going to say and just switch to an older version of NMM but i'm sorry to report the latest version is to ingrained (New Vegas and Fallout 3 are using 60.8 while Skyrim is still in pre-60.x) and I fear reinstalling an older version of NMM might corrupt my files all over again and I really don't feel like spending 6 or 7 hours hunting for very specific mods that in some cases DO NOT exist on the Nexus anymore. I hope this gets resolved soon. I prefer NMM to Mod Organizer personally but this has left kind of a sour taste in my mouth. EDIT: Good news is that even having the 0.6 series installed it was a simple matter of uninstalling and then installing 0.56.1. Now that that headache is out of the way I still think you all need to fix the 0.6 series to make reinstalling/uninstalling mods OPTIONAL instead of MANDATORY. You'll make a lot of people much happier in the long run.

Like others, I don't believe that thread you refer to is representative of the site as a whole, and as I now see, the moderators don't either which is why they locked it. I've spent time reading parts of it and can pretty much tell you that every single person who vented there about being banned "unfairly" actually had it coming and likely should have been banned sooner than they were. Some of those people are just plain vile and probably ought to be banned on LL too. Granted and that's very true. Sadly we have to remember a quote from Skyrim, "a few bad apples spoil the bunch." Not all those people are bad and I'm sorry for playing devils advocate but some of the others as well. There's some real talent over there that it just pains me to see so divided. I'm reminded of that song by Bebo Valde's & Federico Britos, "We Could Make Such Beautiful Music Together." Reminds me of this particular problem in that if the Nexus and LL worked together the possibilities would be incredible. But I'm beating a dead horse at this rate; It's all up to them now. -

What have you experienced or seen that suggests the level of unfairness some complain of? the bans and warnings are public here for everyone to see, have a look through them and I bet you'll struggle to find evidence of what people complain about. What you'll find are pirates, spammers, content thieves, the chronically self entitled, those who abuse authors, those who set out to make things unpleasant for other people and those with the social skills of a baboon, do we really want these kinds of people in the community? The Nexus provides an environment where decent civilised people can express themselves, share their creations and enjoy their hobby without halfwits spoiling everything, start turning a blind eye to the type of people currently shown the door and it won't be long before the place is as poisonous as YouTube. Well for one on LL there's an entire thread on General Discussion of pages and pages of people who feel they have been treated unfairly not to mention the entire population almost of LL as a whole. Don't you think that's just a little odd to you? One or two people okay that's just something twisting in the wind but hundreds of pages of disgruntled banned members? Some of which have stated they were banned simply out of spite? I don't want to quote any names but just look at the General Discussion thread and you'll see what I mean. There are a lot of hurt people over there. Of course we don't want malcontents at the Nexus but ....all of them are malcontents? What about the one who created the Skyrim Romance Mod? She openly tried to apologize on many different occasions for attempting to make a Kickstarter; she was ignored and IP banned. That is what you call a civilized community? Look I don't want to come off as someone accusing the Nexus of being abusive. If I did I'm sorry. I'm only trying to find a sense of peace between both communities. Arthmoor is right; the ball is in their court and I am sensing some animosity on their side and unwillingness to meet the Nexus half-way but seriously can you blame them? I asked about your experience for a reason, it's the only thing you should judge this site on, not the rantings of those who signed up here and didn't think the rules applied to them. I'm well of aware of that thread on LL, it's a train wreck full of drama queens, liars and the self entitled, just look at the posts in it, people are spending more time attacking each other than the Nexus, that gives an idea of the sort of people posting there, it got so bad that it's now been locked. I personally like LL but that thread was a blemish on a site that is otherwise well run and quite pleasant, it's good to see it finally ended. Very relevant and understood because I agree; I'm glad that thread got locked. -

You all have relevant points of course and I accept them; yes there is a gross amount of toxicity from LL that needs to be addressed but also a lot of good talent there that is sadly not here at the Nexus anymore. I'm not trying to raise everybody's emotions or sore feelings toward being antagonistic, I just don't like to see a community so divided. Fallout 4 is on the horizon and the combined efforts of the Nexus and LL could make mods that would make corporate execs think twice before falling back to the Paid Mod system which I am dreading will make a come back. I'm just trying to keep my hopes up. Lately I've been...a little disappointed in the relevance of certain mods made on this site while LL is sporting stuff that people like. Almost every week the Skyrim Nexus is practically inundated with, "Cute Follower Mod #2349201283489," or ENBs. Its getting depressing and I always wondered, "what happened to the magnificent works of Earache, Kendo and Puce Moose?" Most of them got banned  (for the exception of Puce Moose; he recently uploaded something and I always enjoyed his work). These characters brought light to a vanilla game that was largely, "meh that's okay," and made it, "WOW!! That's awesome." It just feels like our most dedicated talent just....isn't here anymore. You appear to have mistake me for: 1. Someone who opposes paid mods. 2. Someone who cares whether or not LL is blacklisted. I posted merely to point out the flaw in the comparisons of traffic analysis on LL vs what the forum shows you here. I suspect the reason they rely on Workshop numbers is because it's tied to official APIs which they can easily access to see how many of their users download the CK, use it, then upload a mod for others. Given what we as modders can see for subscriber rates, download numbers, and the financial data we had on hand for the paid mods thing, I can only imagine how much MORE analytics data a publisher has access to. Nexus obviously doesn't provide this to them, so it wouldn't be prudent for them to draw any conclusions from the data here without that same kind of system being available. That said, yes, basing statistics on only those who get mods from the Workshop falls short of the true numbers by some large margin. What other reliable method do they have though? No Arthmoor you completely missed the point good sir. I wasn't trying to imply LL gets more traffic or the Nexus does. While its relevant yes I'm afraid you missed the overall meaning of what I stated. A divided community is a weak community and constantly bickering with LL could potentially lead to modding community as a whole being suddenly subjected to a corporate mentality that can only end in disaster. I'm trying to help Nexus mend bridges with LL if at all possible. As for trying to get accurate statistics that would encourage Bethesda to realize the current model works better than the Paid Mod model as I stated before it would not be as simple as tracing an IP and watching the traffic (that could result in possible legal issues). About the only alternative would be to contact said people on those mod sites and acquire a concrete Spreadsheet of monthly or possibly yearly activity. Getting them to willingly cooperate with the Nexus though, that's the Pandora's Box. Look I don't like iterating this but some elements on the Nexus have left some very raw feelings and a lot of people out there feeling very salty about it all but this is still important. We need to take a step back and offer a hand in friendship, not animosity. If they bite that hand well its their loss. I've been part of this community since 2006 and in all that time it was only recently that I started hearing of people that are hurt and disgruntled at some of the Nexus' actions. Most might be false granted, but the sheer volume of people complaining can't simply be a fluke. I'm reminded of a quote from Bablyon 5, "Understanding is a three edged sword; there's their understanding, there's your understanding and then there's the truth." I know most of the slander must be baseless and immature but not 100% of it. Please ladies and gentlemen of the Nexus, we need offer the olive branch to those willing to accept it because a bigger shadow of ill intentions is on the horizon. Also Arthmoor if you thought I mistook you for someone who supported said actions no sir, I never implied that. If that's the idea you got then I'm sorry for that. I didn't mean to unnerve or upset you and that goes for all the moderators here. I'm...just trying to play Mother Teresa I think for the modding community as a whole. I don't want us to be divided Y>Y -

That in itself is troubling. I'm glad to see Valve hasn't lost its sense of self respect in this problem but Bethesda (a company I have long loved) is in danger of becoming another statistic; that money is more important than their customers. We can see this with recent Pre-Order tier system Square-Enix developed for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. It's actually really disgusting. I thought they were better than that. You're absolutely right Dark0ne; we need to produce compelling statistics and scores on how much better the current system is vs a paid mod system. That requires not just the Nexus as a whole but ALL COMMUNITIES. This could be the olive branch we've been waiting for. The majority of mod development I would wager needs to bring their entire download history forward. This would include not only Nexus but every mod development site on the web if possible. I know that seems like a big undertaking but this is actually a very dangerous situation for the modding community abroad. Desperate times call for desperate measures. People buy games like Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim, Oblivion and even Morrowind FOR THE MODS. This alone is proof that converting to a paid mod system could potentially cripple the industry Bethesda has created over night. In light of that...hmm...it MIGHT be prudent to wait at this point. Let the dice fall as they will I would say. Reason is because we don't have the proper stats on Sales vs Marketing. If Bethesda is made aware that upcoming data indicating a loss in sales because of the advent of paid mods, it'll make them back up faster than a PortaPotty at a BBQ event. Okay so it might be in the best interest of waiting to see what happens that way we can garner the data we need. Still Dark0ne...this animosity between Nexus and LL is not only unbecoming but very sad. Sure there are mods over there that have...ahem...questionable morals but there's a lot of talent over there that literally got told, "F*** OFF," either because of jealously or spite. I'm not pointing fingers (I don't resort to making accusations) but there are a lot of disgruntled people over there that feel they've been treated unfairly. -

I've been sitting on the sidelines of this debate for about a year now and I think its time we really need to address the real problem. Yes I agree that LL NEEDS to put up an Age Block of somekind. Many adult oriented sites do this and for good reason (I'd flip go ape**** crazy if I found my theoretical 8 year old son/daughter checking out a site like that). I have to ask Dark0ne though; if they put up an age restriction is there the possibility of reconciliation? Reason I bring that up is a simple verse; "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand." -Matthew 12:25 Reason I said that is quite simple. Quite frankly Dark0ne and the moderators here should have seen the danger of what almost happened not 3 months ago. I think you did but it seems to have been lost in the traffic or outright ignored and that troubles me. The modding community was borderline made redundant by the corporate entities of Steam and Bethesda.net. This wasn't simply testing to see something works...it was probing. An attempt to perhaps monopolize a potential market in charging for mods. Bethesda not 100% to blame for this (a good portion of their workforce and development team feel charging for mods made by third parties would alienate a lot of people) but there's still a corporate entity that would love nothing more than to milk the modding community. EA does this simply with DLC content and its disgusting. Why I bring it up is my attempt to offer an olive branch between both communities. We CANNOT be a divided community on this because THIS is not a dead subject. They were simply testing the waters. Now thank heavens nothing extreme happened but as AngryJoe implies this is Corporate Commander at his worst. The devil is in the details my friends. Sure they backed off once the outcry was pretty apparent...but its not a dead subject. They WILL try again. The modding community is a potential milk cow and they're dying to put it into the dairy. We can't afford to have petty disagreements and name calling over who's website is better or worse. We have a darker shadow looming over the horizon and unless both communities work together, the potential for mod making will become a thing of the past as both could potentially be dismantled in favor a corporate entity that wants to charge for a mod made for a certain game. Would you like to pay $12.30 (77% of that going to Corporate Commander) that you not only downloaded but potentially made yourself? Of course not, nobody would. That's like being charged an extra $30 for a BLT you already ate! Some will say this is just conspiracy theory but it does have merit. Dark0ne, LadyMilla, Arthmoor...every moderator and mod maker on the Nexus and abroad I'm begging you; please we cannot be divided on this. If we continue to bicker with LL over petty disagreements (don't kid yourself BOTH sides are guilty of some pretty childish antics) we'll completely ignore the very serious threat that is beginning to rear its butt ugly head. Remember the quote of the Arthashastra; "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." I don't want to see the Nexus become, "This mod will cost you $1.99 to download; please input your credit card number and billing address." -
DDoS season begins, sites a little bit unstable
aeonthraen replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
In response to post #8479791. Um actually I think it's just an automated maintenance between the hours of 7am and 12pm mountain time. But then again it could be or just a lot of traffic. I've noticed some days when I get off of work that getting into the site takes forever and logging via NMM the application seems to hang like its trying to talk to the server but no one's listening. A DDoS attack however would make it impossible to even load the page so its doubtful that's the case. My guess is just increased traffic during peak hours. I cannot stress this enough to everyone that certain house keeping techniques can keep your PC from becoming a botnet. The same techniques can be used to secure your online passwords, game IDs and so forth; 1. Be mindful where you browse. Don't just click sites randomly as many sites have malicious adware that could potentially have a trojan linked to a cookie. Get Spybot: Search and Destroy and make it a mental note to check your system every month to keep it clean. 2: If you get an email from an unknown source, no matter how enticing it may seem, DELETE and PURGE it. My general rule, "I don't know you so you're message is not even getting read...delete." If it has an attachment even more so. 3: An Adblocker is useful but bear in mind that some of the sites you love the most NEED ads to stay in business. Take game commentator TotalBiscuit for example. He gets revenue from ads supporting his commentary so remember upon using an Adblocker to filter certain sites for your favorites. 4. Change your passwords monthly. I know it can be hassle trying to remember passwords especially when you scramble them but it's a must. This is extremely encouraged with bank accounts, game IDs and online purchase. Most online banks offer a built in system that requires you to change your password every month. Try scrambling your current password into an anagram, type out your password via a secure word document such as Notepad and reallocate the letters/numbers into a different sequence then update your current password with the new sequence. This seems like a hassle but trust me; identity theft is a REAL threat. Just a few house keeping techniques can keep your PC from becoming a botnet and giving our beloved site here a much needed respite. -
I ran across the same problem and this should help; if you used a removeallfactions command in the console it makes your disposition 0 to the greybeards so upon using said shout they get angry. doing this helped alleviate the problem; player.addfac 0002c6c8 1 or just do a search, "greybeard" and find the faction. I was experimenting with an animal friend console system and it caused to many bugs so I did a player.removeallfactions command that apparently wiped the board clean. upon doing the first part of the quest you are added to the Greybeard faction. my guess is it was made specifically to keep this bug from happening. That might also explain why dragons have mysteriously become friendly xD. that was interesting but game breaking.

I hate to be a pest and I'm not to sure where this would go but I need help with a script and my Creation Kit skills are below mediocre. I've read into the how but I'm sorry to say it's all Greek to me so I would appreciate some help. I need a script that would similar cast a constant effect on you via reading a book that also gives you the option of saying no. Also if choosing yes I need it to automatically add you to a faction via selecting the yes option. I would do this myself but oy the scripting reminds me of trying to defrag a NASA computer. If anyone can help or post a script doing the above I would greatly appreciate it. If this is in the wrong section moderators please feel free to move it where it would be appropriate. Thank you.

are you making a new save file every 3 minutes or something? i only make a new save once every 3 or 4 hours of gameplay or when i'm about to start a quest that I know bugs. most of the other times i just use the quicksave button and autosaves when loading or zoning in and out places. if you're using the save option a lot yeah it can start to overflow your save file. only use the manual save when your hitting a big part in the game that may bug on you is my advice. If its doing it automatically thats a problem. check your settings and make sure it isn't automatically making a new save file every few minutes. if it is disable it otherwise it'l bog down your game hardcore.
