  1. There is a bit of a learning curve to Oblivion, isn't there? I think I will start fiddling with the load order as I have to learn about such things sooner or later and now is a good time to start. I opened one of the tools on OBMM that shows conflicts and have to confess that I couldn't make heads or tails of it. Are there any tutorials out there on using the features in OBMM? I've been seeing all of these really powerful tools such as OBMM and Wrye Bash but the instructions for their use could use some amplification.
  2. That was it. The quests worked once I disabled Knights of the Nine, though I'm not sure what it was conflicting with. I'm really new at the PC version of Oblivion and I'm not entirely certain what to do about it now: can I just leave it alone until I want to do the Knights quest, or do I need to do some further work to determine what the conflict was with and then perhaps change the load order or take some other step?
  3. First, in Anvil, I spoke to Azzan about a contract and he mentioned a rat problem in a woman's house. There was no "quest added" message and when I went to the woman's house (I forget her name) she said something about her pet rats but nothing to do with a quest to perform. Second, I received the quest from Armand Cristophe to join the Thieves' Guild. When I arrived at the house where the diary was, I got to the diary first and heard Methedriel (sp) say I had beaten her to it. Then I took it back to Armand and all he said was "Are you confused?" with no dialogue option to hand over the diary. Methedriel, when I spoke to her, called me a thief. I then reset it and allowed her to get the diary, but I checked and it was still in the same location in the mark's house, and when I searched her house it wasn't there. Anyway, I tried all the combinations I could think of but always with the same result. When I encountered one quest that didn't work I thought it might just be because I hadn't fulfilled something or other that I needed to do first (although on the console version that wasn't the case). However, now with two quests not working, I'm thinking that something is broken. Here are the mods I have installed and their load order taken from OBMM: Oblivion.esm Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp BrewHouse.esp Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp Knights.esp Amajor7 Imperial Furniture.esp DLCShiveringIsles.esp Apachii_Goddess_Store.esp Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed block and 150% damage.esp DeadlyReflex 5 - Combat Moves.esp MidasSpells.esp I also have the Apachii Goddess Store and Qarl's Texture Pack.
  4. Will do. As I'm working my way through it, I might add that I've just now come back from deactivating all of my installed mods with virtually no effect. When I first installed Oblivion a week or two ago--though I didn't yet know how to display fps--it ran smoothly while set on ultra-high. In my enthusiasm, I started installing mods willy-nilly, and have actually reinstalled the game a time or two (using RivaUninstaller and reformat of the dedicated drive the game is on). I'm really wondering now if perhaps I've screwed something up. Anyway, I'll work through the tweak site. Thanks for the help.
  5. The card is AGP and 512MB. Also, I'm running Oblivion from a parallel installation of XP on its own partition that has a bare minimum of processes running (I don't even use it for the internet), the game itself is also on a separate partition of 20GB (though I'm discovering that that might not be quite large enough) and I've just completed defragmentation of both the OS and the Oblivion drives.
  6. I just have a few mods installed and, while my machine is a few years old, I think it's capable of running the game better than it is at the moment. My specs are as follows: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Radeon X1650 Pro (Omega 3.8.442 drivers) 2GB DDR RAM This is my load order (from OBMM): Oblivion.esm Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp UOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.esp Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp BrewHouse.esp Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp Knights.esp Amajor7 Imperial Furniture.esp DLCShiveringIsles.esp Apachii_Goddess_Store.esp Deadly Reflex 5 - Timed block and 150% damage.esp DeadlyReflex 5 - Combat Moves.esp MidasSpells.esp I also have the Apachii Goddess Store and Qarl's Texture Pack. At the moment, my fps is at best 20 in town w/ 1st person view, and 14 or so in 2d person. In the countryside, it gets down to about 5 in 2d person and at best only about 9 or 10 in 1st person.
  7. My problem was primarily that I didn't know what to do after clicking "Import Face." The way I finally solved it was by starting a new game, creating a character without touching any of the sliders, proceeding to the sewer exit, saving it, exiting the game, opening Wrye Bash and following the steps through "Import Face," then going back into the game, opening the saved game, starting the change-character sequence, then clicking "Reset," and Presto! There was my imported face. I suspect there is a less cumbersome way of going about it, but as I intended to start a new game anyway using the changes from OOO this way worked out okay--though I would still like to know how to import it into a normal saved game.
  8. I hope I'm not violating any rules against repeat posts as this is a related question to one I've already posted; however, since it's much more specific, I thought it would be appropriate to post it separately. I'm trying to import a face from a game I had saved prior to installing OOO into a completely new game. I downloaded and installed Wrye Bash and followed the instructions about importing a face: I right-clicked on a saved game, clicked on "Import Face," and a box came up with my character's name but no image. The same thing happened with every saved game I clicked on. I went ahead and highlighted the name and clicked "Import Face" anyway, and received a confirmation message that the face had been imported. After that, predictably enough, nothing happened, which might well be because I have no idea what to do next. I'm sure that I've done something wrong--perhaps because I'm simply not taking the next step, or perhaps in the installation of Wrye Bash--but I don't know what to do.
  9. I have installed Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and would like to load a saved game from before I had installed it; however, the instructions for OOO state that to do so I need to import the save into Wrye Bash first. I have read the instructions but I don't get it. If someone would please help me out I would be most grateful indeed. Edit: I might add that what I actually would like to do is simply import a character's face from the the non-OOO saved game into a new game.
  10. Right. Thank you most kindly for the quick response. Michael
  11. I installed Qarl's Texture Pack using OBMM. All of the parts appear on the right-panel except for Part 1. Also, Parts 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9 appeared with the red box indicating a conflict with another mod. The only other mods I have installed at the moment after a reinstallation are the Unofficial Patch, Exenem's Body, Deadly Reflexes, and Apachii Goddess Shop. Have I done something wrong?
  12. I had thought about trying that (removing the meshes and textures) but I was really uncertain how to go about it and whether it would also delete meshes and textures that I didn't want to delete. I suppose I should go ahead and try though before I do a complete uninstallation. One question: how do I locate the ones that need to go? I'm guessing by simply comparing against the files in the original mod, right?
  13. I'm quite new to Oblivion on the PC so my comment is general. An excellent tool I have been using for some time to deal with this sort of issue with other applications is RevoUninstaller. It not only will uninstall anything you throw at it, but it also finds all the files that are typically left over after uninstalling. You can get it free at http://www.revouninstaller.com/ I haven't used it for Oblivion yet but I'm about to as I'm having a problem that's similar to yours. Panzer4
  14. I installed a few mods (Qarl's Textures, Deadly Reflex, Midas Magic, Exenem Body, Appachii Goddess Shop) and everything was running great, but then I seem to have buggered the installation of Illumination Within and now, not only did I not get the lights, but I seem to have taken a sever hit to my fps as movement has become jerky. Unfortunately I didn't back anything up :wallbash: so all I can think of is to copy my Save Game folder somewhere and reinstall, but I can't find the Save folder. For what it's worth, my problem with Illumination Within had to do with installing its files in the wrong place (I think). I extracted them to the Data folder but I'm thinking that I should have put the Texture files in Textures, the Meshes files in Meshes. Something strange that happened was that, upon going into a city after dark, instead of lights in the windows, every window had a big, yellow, six-pointed star emerging from it bearing a message saying, as best I can recall, "WTF %#@&% MESHES!!" I will be most grateful indeed for any help. Many thanks Panzer4
