  1. Thank you both much. I was mostly concerned with any patches/fixes that might address fatal flaws/major irritations in the core of the game. Since there doesn't seem to be any of great concern I think I'm good to go! And yes, I plan on playing through unmodded the first time. I always do. But when I'm not in the mood or don't have a chunk of time to play, I hunt down mods that improve aesthetics--at least from my point of view--or tinker with things that irk me--leveling up too quickly always seems to be one of my biggest problems. (I'm a rather pragmatic player and I think that compounds the problem.) So I was asking for mod suggestions in advance and I appreciate the help. Thanks again and now I'm off to...to...well, exit the Hinterlands post haste evidently!
  2. Hi all, I'm preparing to play DA:I for the first time. This will actually be the first time playing any of the Dragon Age series. Would you folks advise me as to what patches/fixes I will need after installation? I'm most concerned about a stable game of course, but I'm also looking for opinions/options for mods that improve the game and enhance the experience. I've played Morrowind several times--vanilla and lightly modded--and Oblivion even more--vanilla and heavily modded. I've learned (or would "tamed" be a better word?) Wrye Bash so I have a bit better than basic knowledge of managing mods. At least for Bethsoft games. This is my first shot with a Bioware game. Advice and warnings are greatly appreciated. As far as my game play style--thinking this will influence what mods you might suggest--I tend not to be in a hurry. Heck, I played Morrowind for 4 1/2 months before I got to the end the first time! So visual detail and immersion are important. I enjoy side quests as much as the main quest, sometimes even more, and I lean toward lore-friendly but won't exclude a particularly good mod simply because it tweaks the legend a tad. I've played as various characters but strongly favor a stealth mage role. Thanks for your thoughts and help!
  3. Okay. Am I numb and supposed to figure this out on my own (search is no help) or does nobody know the answer? Thanks again and as always.
  4. Hi all, I am playing a modestly modded game (GOTY version) with current patches plus OBSE, Script Extender, BOSS, and Wrye Bash. Problem is I can't seem to equip more than 2 rings at a time. I believe I have ticked the correct boxes within the Bash to allow use of wearing multiple enchanted rings. But it isn't working for me. Yes, I have made sure that "rings showing" is unchecked as it may conflict--if my reading is correct. I've unchecked anything showing. (I don't play in vanity mode so--eh?) Any thoughts? Help? Thanks as always! Ohh...If this should have gone in Mod Troubleshooting--Admins--please move me!
  5. nuska, From one forever Dunmer to another, thank you. I am not a supra-heavy lore driven player but I now understand what/why you decided to create the face(s) as you did. Reading was interesting. My best to you. (And thanks to you too, Ike, for leaving 2 beers in the fridge!)
  6. fikula, A gentle suggestion: Post your request as a new topic. People looking at this topic are wondering about the tattoos' on the faces of Dark Elves with the OCO mod. They are probably not going to be in a position (or disposition) to reply to you. Do this--and I hope you get help with your issue!
  7. I have finished the tutorial. After a number of useless efforts I found that I had to (VERY quickly) dash out of the wall and run like a dark elf on fire past the Emperor and guards into the middle of the fray taking place with the Dark Brotherhood. No waiting/watching allowed. Must jump in and have at it. For me, I cast my puny fireball spell, made some sort of contact, the guards finished up things and the conversation trigger kicked in. I would imagine doing anything from a fist fight to an ax blow would work as well as long as one makes some sort of retaliatory action against the DB. Why? Dunno. Never had this issue in the past. And that ... is all I can say about it. Thanks to those who looked and suggested help.
  8. Thank you for replying. I appreciate your suggestion but I think I will continue to figure out why this "loop" is happening. Best to you!
  9. I make it though the tutorial to the part just before the Emperor should quiz me about my birthsign. However, after I jump out of the hole in the wall and the guards yell "Here comes another one"! (or something along those lines), I don't get the "trigger" conversation from the Emperor to make my attribute choices and such. The dialogue is stuck on "There's trouble ahead" and "I've told you to stay out of our way". I have reloaded back several times but no joy. I'm confused. Anyone else have this happen? This isn't my first time playing Oblivion (by a long shot) but this is a new one to me? My mods all seem to be happy together, Wrye and OMM, lovely patches and extenders in place. I don't want to detail this to death---it seems like it must be a simple hiccup...I hope...
  10. Fridge is right over there--> Only leftover roasted chicken and some "iffy" lobster chowder--beer is on the second shelf. Please wipe your feet when you come in as I just did the floors this morning. I am excited to play Oblivion again, modded I believe, correctly. Finally. However.... Now I'm (sadly) off to post in another topic as for some reason I am "stuck" near the end of the tutorial. Can't get the Emperor to talk to me about my birth sign and such  Meh. Thanks again for your help dear!
  11. Thanks IkeCoast, the tire tracks do vanish when I move the age slider. The male doesn't show the marks when he is first generated but they do show up when moving the age slider. It's odd though; I didn't read anything about this rather radical addition to the race face in the read me or other material. Do you have any notion as to why the author decided to add this feature to the dark elf race? I think this is a very good mod. Perhaps the chins are a bit "pointy" for all races but it is such a huge improvement from the original, I am picking at nits. Thank you again for your help. (I am still and always amazed that folks from so far away can be at my doorstep in minutes to help me in such a friendly way... )
  12. I just installed OCO and all seemed to go well with all races except the Dark Elf female. She has tire tracks across her face. The male does not. All other races seem fine though I haven't check each gender. Any thoughts as to why this is happening? I have checked my other mods and don't see anything that should conflict. During install I did get a "foot" override (I allowed it). I have Blockhead installed and installed OCO via OMOD. I have a very good Wrye set up running with no issues pointing to this mod. Thanks for your help!
  13. Thank you for replying. I will ax the ghost and see what shakes. A question regarding your comment about 'accidentally' creating a ghost patch when rebuilding. I'd like to know how one "makes" a ghost patch when simply restructuring an existing patch? Again, just wondering. Thanks for your time. L.
  14. Hi Eric, There are 2 in C:\Oblivion\Data. One is ghost esp. I didn't get a patch on initial install.
  15. Hello, I am playing Oblivion after a long while away. I am working with Wrye Python 304, libraries updated. Should BOSS be showing 2 instances of an active bash patch when it sorts? Both are in the unrecognized category. I ask out of curiosity and just because. Thanks for reading. L.
