Lol, thx for the try, but I have just finished deleting fallout 3 with all components + reinstalled it with all my mods, costed me half a day, but now it works fine. So thx, but a bit too late :P -

I have lots of time tomorrow afternoon, so guess I'll just delete fallout 3 and reinstall it with every mod I want, hope it works then. I have a load order list now so at least I know which ones I want. Just hope it won't all be for nothing, like still having same problem tomorrow evening :P -

I have vista. But the problem is, I have been able to play it for more than a year (been playing/modding it since it came out) and this is the first time I have this freeze bug. I have it since I downloaded some more mods yesterday. I'm sure the mods are fine and working, since running without mods gives the same problem and the game I still have does work with all these mods installed (every 1 of 'em is working, tested that already). So is there a way to check for errors in an advanced way or so (maybe with fo3 edit, although I already used the 'check for errors' button there)? -

Nope, I already tried the lowest textures, which gives the same freeze. And I have a pretty good pc, so I can usually run it at high settings without trouble. -
I wasn't sure if this was Fallout 3 troubleshooting or Mod troubleshooting, since I run a lot of mods. But whenever I try to start a new game, the game freezes and I cannot play my game :( I already have a merged patch and masterupdate with fo3edit before I start my game. I can't find errors with 'check for errors' module from fo3edit. In the quest 'one for my baby' I accidentally saved when Manny Vargas got shot by Boone. Now I don't want to start a whole new game or invest in nothing else than speech for 3 levels just to get Boone as a companion (I already deleted prior saves before I saw my fault). Is there any way (probably with the GECK) that I can reset the whole quest or just let Vargas live again and Boone forget about it? And somehow I don't have access to the console, otherwise it would probably be a lot easier. (I play on vista) I've already looked in the GECK a bit but don't exactly know how to change this, I think it's something with the line: VBooneRevengeVargas or something like that...

I did, but I don't like the Bethsoft forums (even scrolling goes slow). Still, any help here would be appreciated :) Edit: fixed, so this one can get closed. I used Notepad ++ to break open the DUIF3Settings.xml file, and simply changed hudcompass 1 to hudcompass 0. Compass was gone, rest of DUI still working great. What I learned: XML explorer sucks, notepad ++ is way better ;)

I just downloaded DarN UI, everything seems to work, but there's one mod I had before I can't get to work anymore, which is the remove compass mod. I hate it you don't have to look around anymore because the compass shows where your enemies are. I had that fixed, but with DarN UI I have the compass back again, and can't get it away now. I use FWE, MMM, WMK, fellout and enhanced weather + DarN UI (which seems to conflict). I tracked the problem down to the hudtemplates file, because that's the only change the remove_compass mod makes (you just had to place that one in menus -> prefabs, didn't go with an .esp). So my question is: how do I remove the compass from my game, but still keep DarN UI ?
