  1. In Oblivion there was a tdt command you type in the console and display your characters current location or cell coordinates. I want put a house in game , and in Oblivion I would roam around, find a spot, go back to the construction set and go to that particular cell. However in Skyrim I cant seem to find a way to do this. There is no TDT command to display the location in game
  2. Thanks, I'm trying to get an idea of performance vs cost so that helps. It's difficult to know exactly how a game will run on a particular machine until you actually run it.
  3. I dont know if i've ever heard anything good about alienware, lol. There seems to be a common theme of " looks great, poor quality".. I also hear a lot about " laptops dont run games good", thats why I'm looking for personal experience recommendations from people. That Toshiba does look pretty good btw. That model is on Ebay new for about 1200$. Dont know if thats a good deal or not at this point because I just started shopping around.
  4. I'm looking to buy a laptop for the purpose of playing Skyrim and creating mods with the Creation kit. Not trying to run the game on Ultra or anything, Budget I guess is 1000 to 1500 maybe? I've never had a laptop so I'm not familiar with what a "decent " one should cost. I'm also unfamiliar with the mobile graphics cards performance. Also, aren't laptops officially "unsupported" for most games ?
  5. I dont want hardcore mode for the purpose of making the game more difficult, but for the immersion factor. So perhaps "hardcore" is not an appropriate description , I hadn't much thought of it until reading your replay. A hunger/thirst mod I believe is what most people want. This would not require dramatic overhaul of the game. Maybe Bethesda doesn't believe enough people are interested in this feature to justify including it in the game. But I do see it mentioned a lot ! After all they included cooking. Leaving me with the question of "why?". Obviously they believed a lot of people wanted to cook in the game. They dont seem to think we want it to serve any purpose whatsoever, lol
  6. One of the things I really didn't like in vanilla Skyrim was the ambient "rumble " noise when in caves etc.... I replaced several of these type files with a silent file of the same name to eliminate this annoyance. (note that lowering the fx slider lowers ALL fx noise so please don't tell me to just adjust my sound :) Example: Data/sound/fx/amb/dungeon/amb_dungeon_howl_a2dlp.wav is one of these sounds. I created a silent wav file with the same name and placed it in this directory. However after the latest patch , this no longer seems to work. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
  7. Damn I swore that said GTX 480! :wallbash:
  8. The wait for this game was brutal. I was counting the seconds. Now I've played 300+ hours and I'm ready to tweak a few things. In fact modding is what changes this game from great to OMFG I'm never leaving the house! I guess the difference is I have something to do while waiting on the editor. But still, I'm dying here! Are they gonna wait until 11:59 January 31? Anyone else feeling my pain?
  9. Skyrim is the greatest game in the history of the universe

  11. I have i7-920 2 GTX 280 sli I run ultra with some slow down in Markarth, but overall performs very well so you should be good. Of course when all the good texture mods come out who knows. The game looks phenomenal the way it is now though. Except for some furniture, but those retextures are already out. I just remembered I was running ultra with just one card before the Nvidia driver update for sli so youre definitely good
  12. my current set up is full ebony armor, fully improved, an enchanted ebony greatsword with absorb stamina and health enchantments. I cast ebony flesh spell and go in swinging. The absorb stamina and health enchantments on the sword keep me fighting pretty well. I dont have any perks toward 2h yet. Seems to me like things are pretty balanced versus sword and shield. However I did notice in early levels you can destroy enemies with a 2h weapon pretty easy.
  13. what are the odds bethesda will add this feature as DLC in the future? Or will they just " leave it to the modders". Seems like cooking is in the game just as a marketing ploy to wet our appetites before the games release. "Hey Skyrim has cooking!" It serves no purpose but its there!
  14. ahhhhhh thank you! Gonna give this one a try soon as I get home. I dont mind blood its just the screen splatter annoys me!
  15. I loved HC mode in FONV. Not sure why this wouldnt be implemented in Skyrim. Also, frost damage effect during the snow storms? Seems like someone should be able to look at the scripting for FONV and make something similar for Skyrim. I mean cooking is in the game, but WHY? It really serves no purpose at this point. If Bethesda had plans to add HC mode later due to time constraints, wouldn't they let us know? Anyone heard any rumors of this or no of a mod in progress? I know everyone constantly talks about this subject but I am just baffled as to why HC mode is not in Skyrim.
  16. You can open the console and type tfc or tfc 1 which will " toggle free camera". Tfc 1 will freeze time
  17. Does anyone know of a mod that removes the blur effect during the finishing move cutscenes? I would like for the screen to be clear because it would make for awesome screenshots. The same effect is present during enchanting and alchemy scenes. What is really the purpose of this effect?
  18. Thanks for the reply. I'll try that seeing how I'm getting nowhere trying to do it myself:(
  19. Can someone try disabling this effect on their system so I will at least know whether its me or the information is correct on how to disable?
  20. Does anyone else have this effect disabled?
  21. I tried this ----> [screenSplatter] bBloodSplatterEnabled=0 The variable and section above must both be added to the bottom of the Skyrim.ini file and set to 0 if you wish to disable blood splatters appearing on the screen. This does not disable blood spurts which occur when you hit an enemy or are hit; it only disables the red splatter effect which is superimposed on the screen to simulate blood getting in your eyes. as per Nvidia tweak guide, however when I select the map during gameplay, it crashes to desktop. Removing the added ini content will allow the map to be accessed again. Any ideas? Blood splatter is ruining some screenshots!
  22. item placement definitely sucks. Its horrible compared to Fallout,Oblivion. I would also like to see this fixed
  23. Where do you place the music files after conversion so they play in game?
  24. http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/458719-skyrim-music-addons/ I just found this has already been brought up.
  25. Yeah I was wondering about that. In oblivion you could just add to the existing folders. I was hoping this would be as simple.
