  1. I had this problem after using Jaxon Renamer as well. Undoing changes in the MCM menu corrected it.
  2. Does anyone know why arrows bounce off mudcrabs? I've looked around in the creation kit and can't seem to find anything. I'd like to have a spell that causes arrows to deflect off the Player character. Has anyone seen anything like this?
  3. I have been reading about the 970 vram issues. I'll wait and see how that plays out before I buy one. I thought of going with a 980 hydrocopper series, since that's what my 580 is, but I'm not sure if the price to performance is worth it.
  4. What were your previous system specs? Did you feel like the upgrade was worth it? The funny thing about Skyrim is no matter how powerful a machine you have, enough modding can bring it to its knees. I'm thinking about just upgrading to a gtx970, and seeing what the difference is . I can always upgrade the rest later.
  5. You are right about that part. In single threaded programs the i7 4790k is only 3% faster than an i5 4670k, yet costs 30% more. As far as I know Skyrim isn't optimized for more than one thread. The I7 4790k is 67% faster than a i7 920. This is why I am wondering what real world performance would be like.
  6. I was wondering if anyone has made this upgrade or something similar and could give some feedback on how much Skyrim performance improved. My current specs are i7 920 @ 3.2, GTX 580 3gb, 12 g ram, SSD. I run Real Vision Enb with pretty standard texture upgrades, grids to load @ 7. My system is pretty stable, gameplay is 40 fps for the most part, although I get occasional stutter. So I'm curious if an upgrade to i7 4790k/GTX 970 would be significant for Skyrim. Anyone have experience on such an upgrade?
  7. I've recently started using Lydia as a follower and it sounds like 2 skeletons sword fighting on a tin roof all the time. Mainly the sound of her stomping around is very distracting. How do I modify the NPC footstep volume? I've tried editing the SkyrimPrefs.ini value fVal6, but did not seem to have any effect. Has anyone modified these settings in their game?
  8. it appears to be the sun.dds file, I think its from Climates of Tamriel or E ENB Final
  9. I would like to remove this rainbow effect but cant figure out how.
  10. Well hell nevermind, in preferences there is a "allow render window cell loads" that you can uncheck, preventing further cells from loading.
  11. When using the creation kit and loading a world cell, I have problems when rotating the camera, causing other areas to load with the area that I'm working on disappearing. This is obviously because I'm moving outside the loaded grids. My question is, is there a setting will "lock" only the loaded cells I'm working on? Basically when I load a particular space outdoors I want to prevent anything else from loading if I move outside of these cells. Its very frustrating having grids load and reload.
  12. I have a combination of ENB series installed, and have an effect from sunglare I want to remove. It is the circles in the picture or a lens glare effect I guess. Anyone know what settings disable this?
  13. A few weeks back I ran across a mod that removed the magic glow around your character when an effect was active. For the life of me I can't seem to find it using the search function. Anyone heard of this?
  14. I did see what you have in the picture there. I probably didn't have anything loaded when I took that screen shot. Even loaded cot and looked at how it was modded. I'm not familiar with the way the weather system is set up at all. Guess I expected to find CHANCE OF RAIN in giant letters or something lol. I just need to study it a bit more and I see how it's all put together. Thanks for the help so far.
  15. i found the world data and climate, but i dont see the adjustments you refer to
  16. i found the world data and climate, but i dont see the adjustments you refer to im having trouble posting a decent screenshot for some reason
  17. I have climates of tamriel installed but I hate rain. Can someone point me in the general direction of the creation kit to modify how often it rains. I'm pretty familiar with the ck but have never modified weather. I love the cot mod but it seems like it rains every #%^ day.
  18. Started reinstall last last night. This is something criminals should be forced to do to repay their debt to society. Windows updates. Kill me now.
  19. I guess what I'm really trying to figure out is will the performance be different if the OS and Skyrim are on the SSD or if just sticking Skyrim on the SSD will achieve the same result. I stuck just Skyrim on the SSD but really didn't see much difference. So now I'm gonna go with just putting both on SSD. only bad thing with a clean install is it usually speeds up everything anyway so I won't really know if the improvement is solely from this method or not. I'm sure there is some performance hampering crap floating around my pc somewhere. Then there is the factor of me not really having a complete understanding of what the hell I'm doing anyway. With computers there is never a simple answer. guess we will wait and see
  20. " Like I said, there are also calculations happening alongside reading from the hard drive. I've been using SSDs for about two years, and I've been running games both from SSDs and HDDs (I move them around via NTFS junctions when I need to free space). I have yet to see a significant load speed increase for a game loading from SSD. The difference is borderline placebo. I guess it can be significant if you've been using an old HDD, but if you have a modern one with decent performance, you probably won't notice much difference moving to SSDs. There may be some games that benefit from an SSD, but I haven't seen one yet." This is a quote from another forum:" Lemme put it in perspective for you. My BF3 load time went from 45 seconds-2 minutes down to 15 seconds tops. My windows load time went from 5 minutes~ to about 25 seconds" So you see the reason for my confusion lol. Im not in any way saying anybody is incorrect or being untruthful but I guess everyone's system and personal experience is different. At the end of the day, the only way I will know for sure is after I install it and try it out. I'll post my observations when everything's up and running.
  21. I was under the impression that load times were significantly reduced during games, I thought he wait during the load screen was data being loaded from the hard drive. So a slow drive would equal longer wait. Do I not understand that correctly?
  22. So for right now , I decided to install the SSD as just a "storage drive" with nothing on it. I used a program called steam mover to move skyrim to the SSD just see how that works. Everything is working but load times really don't seem much different. I'll have play a little more to really be sure but I'm really considering a complete reinstall anyway just to clean out the pc. Anyone else switched to SSD that can give me an idea of the load time difference ?
  23. I recently purchased a SSD for the sole purpose of decreasing load time when playing Skyrim. My question is, would I have to install Windows on the SSD to get the full performance benefit from having a SSD? I was thinking of installing the SSD and moving Skyrim on it with a program called Steam Mover. Basically , does the OS have to be on the SSD to get the full benefit of having a SSD? Thoughts?
