  1. Is anybody working on a mod to toggle off the display of an equipped helmet? I had one in skyrim and would be nice to have one in this. (or is this something only doable with GECK?)
  2. I thought id learn to make new hairstyles. To get myself started, rather than go through the entire process of creating a hairstyle I would edit an existing one from apachii hairstyles in max, (and by edit, i mean just move a few vertices around export a slightly different looking model), just to see if i can complete the process simply. However after exporting, creating the tri file and then replacing the old files with my new ones (in this case 'hair49.nif' and 'hair49.tri' I get a strange problem when loading up the game. It seems that wherever there is shadow my edited hair mesh appears semi transparent. replacing the old files removes the transparency so it is something within my files that is causing the problem. This image shows the problem: As you can see, it is not fully transparent, but you can see the shape of the body, head and ears though the hair. I emphasize that this only looks this way where there are cast shadows. Does anybody have any idea what is happening, or what I might be doing wrong? Thanks
  3. I have noticed that actually the only character that has the gap is the one i was testing things on.... switching to a different preset in the racemenu gets rid of the problem even with ECE installed. as far as i can see preset 3 and 7 also have the gap. I cant help but wonder what is special about these presets and if getting to the bottom of that will help fix the problem permanently.
  4. strange that there isnt any mention of this online anywhere. Can you recommend an alternative to ece that DOES work with CBBE? (the armors that aren't working are mostly ones Ive either made or converted myself using bodyslide... probably caused by something Ive done I suppose.)
  5. After downloading lots of mods, and attempting to make some custom armor mods myself, i noticed a problem with a thin gap in the middle of the neck. Because I noticed it late I'm not entirely sure when it happened or why but I am messaging here hoping for some suggestions to help narrow it down. Heres the problem: I have been using CBBE with bodyslide using a custom created preset. I have also been using Enhanced character edit. The reason i mention this is Ive noticed that removing ECE slightly fixes the problem. without it a naked model has no gap.. but some armors still create a slight gap (though not as large as gap displayed in the image). it really seems to be the ECE causing the large part of the problem... but why? I like using ECE and want to keep doing so, it isnt listed as an incompatible mod and nobody has seemed to state a problem.....so what could it be that is causing this to happen and is there any way i can rectify it? Thanks
  6. After having struggled past that. and overcoming it.... Im now trying my hand at modelling some armor.... (being a 3d artist by profession I need no help with that part).... what I do need help with is..... how does it work? Is it as simple as making the model (i downloaded the nif plugin), exporting it, loading it up in bodyslide outfit studio and then following procedure as normal.... or? because so far when Ive tried that outfit studio keeps crashing when i export to nif.. or try to save project. When i load the newly created nif into nifskope, that also seems to read loads of errors..... Ive tried looking at tutorials but none of them seems to relate directly to bodyslide 2 and all of its snazzy features that shoudl in theory save a lot of work from the old methods i keep reading about. Any help?
  7. could you recommend one.. Im getting really bogged down with all the different contradicting information and Im still not even certain the catchphrases and keywords im looking for.
  8. So what you are saying is in order to have all my armor and body scaled to my preset configuration.. i need to somehow convert them all to it and not just to the standard CBBE high and low? How do i do that?
  9. I know there is a lot of documentation out there about how to use bodyslide and outfit studio, and it seems fairly easy to just walk myself through tutorials and get to an end result. But I'm really struggling to grasp the fundamentals of what exactly the process is doing. There seems to be a log of jargon thrown around and almost every mod seems to have a list of other mods that their mod is incompatible with.... but they never say why? what is it about each mod that conflicts with another? I feel understanding this is probably core to understanding whats going on. anyway.. I have a few questions I hope somebody can help fill me in. But first I should start off by saying I just recently started playing Skyrim.. I immediately downloaded the CBBE and have been using that. Upon realizing that there are so many different incompatible body shapes besides CBBE ive been trying to get myself familiar with Bodyslide and outfit studio. I've been trying to work out how to make a few conversions. from.. whatever... to CBBE, (since at this point it seems to make sense to stick with CBBE). Naturally im playing a female character, and naturally a lot of armor customizations ive downloaded to convert show a lot of flesh, something to keep in mind.... anyway here goes: Is Bodyslide completely standalone? a lot of tutorials seem to direct me to using Nifskope somewhere at the end. Others don't. If Bodyslide is standalone what is Nifskope doing that Bodyslide doesn't? What is the point of building your own preset? I half know the answer here, and the question is a little misleading since I know what it does. I played around the sliders until I found a configuration I was happy with for my character. saved the preset, and clicked build..... And now my naked character walks around with a body that.. pretty much matches my sliders. then I put some armor on her... and 'BOOMF!'... she suddenly just changed shape.... but wait... I put a different piece of armor on and... that one seems to be ok..and shes now back to the configuration i previously chose. BOTH claim to be CBBE compatible. yet what is one doing that the other isn't? I was under the impression that building your own preset meant that any CBBE armor would automatically adjust to the slider settings to what you have on your character and thus fit perfectly. Was that false naivety? It seems to happen in some case at least. Is my preset even still CBBE? Is CBBE the name for the specific set of values/sliders to make the shape that is known as CBBE.... or is it something else? Is armor put on bodies, or is armor the body? Slightly confusing I know. Im trying to get the mindset of how it works. When we look at a character are we looking at separate armor pieces on a body? or are we looking at a set of armor pieces that just happen to look human? (or elf.. or vampire.. or.. etc....) The reason I ask this question is Im trying to understand if the body skin needed or not when you export your armor from outfit studio? Ive realized that if i leave out the skin.. or.. in other words do not copy the 'baseshape' into my model before exporting it, the character appears invisible with only the armor pieces showing. But copying the 'base shape in (what I'm presuming is the default CBBE sliders) seems only to cause the above mentioned 'BOOMF!' problem, changing my configured preset build into the regular CBBE shape. Am I missing something? What is the connection between bodyslide and outfit studio? So far Ive only been using the Bodyslide as a means to open outfit studio. Once Im in outfit studio i export my.nif and i dont touch Bodyslide again until I need to close and reopen. Some tutorials seem to suggest I should be doing something other but Ive failed to make the connection as to why. What am I missing? Thats about all I have to ask for now. Would really appreciate somebody explaining it all to me. Would happily voice chat about it too if it helps. Thanks
