  1. Anyone have an idea? Just looking for a simple way to reference an NPC base ID instead of the player. I think the rest should work as is.
  2. Crossing a yellow line means new cells will become active as those are the cell boundaries. There will be asset loading, script processing and AI activation. There are a number of event listeners that are notified each time a new cell is entered. So do you know why I am getting stutters with "Distant Object Detail" at Ultra values, even with unmodded vanilla Skyrim especially since I have such a HUGE resource pool: i7 Processor running at 4.5GHZ (Hyperthreading disabled), 6GB VRAM, 16GB System RAM, the game installed on SSD surely should experience virtually no stutter. What is it about "Distant Object Detail" that is introducing this stutter. Once it is set to High, 80% of the stutters disappear straightaway. What size textures are you running? Are they compressed? I tried clamping my ram usage in enb to 4gb (my vram, of course leaving 512 mb reserved for skyrim), and using the unsafe memory hacks and stuttering improved a bit, but then started crashing when going outdoors (because I assume running out of available ram for enb and thus hitting tesv.exe ram cap and causing ctd). I was running Skyrim on an i7 3770k @4.5ghz with a GTX 980 sc and was getting insane mini freezes and macro/micro stuttering with K ENB performance. Running forward I would be ok, but as soon as I turn my camera the freezes/macro stuttering would start. I got an average of around 35-50 fps outdoors. I ended up dropping down to 2k dxt1 compressed texture for landscape and was having the same issues, though my vram usage dropped a bit. I could never get skyrim to run smooth no matter what, and with that kind of hardware behind it I feel like I should have been able to. I'm still trying to find a good .ini setup and good enb values to try out for a smooth Skyrim. I just got a GTX 980 Ti Classified, upgraded to 32gb of RAM, and overclocked my cpu even further to 5.0 ghz. Not sure if that will be enough (which honestly at that point it's just hilariously overkill in the hardware department). That said, I don't suppose you would mind sharing info about your setup would you (.ini and enb settings)? If you were able to fix your stuttering issues, maybe something similar will work for me as well. Honestly even if I were running the game at 35-40 fps I would be ok with that, it's not a big deal. What I'm not ok with is the massive stuttering and mini freezes I get. Lower and stable fps would be better than hitting 60+ fps but experiencing these massive stutters. Areas like Dawnguard I have no issues with though, and generally indoors (though occasionally). It's mostly the outside mainland Skyrim.
  3. Thank you for the replies. I tried out Vividian. I've also tried a variety of lighting mods between ELFX, relighting skyrim, NLA, etc. For the moment I'm giving Serenity another go. I think I'm leaning towards making a custom ENB setup to get the visual effects I want while trying to get the most performance possible. Even with Vividian I'm still getting some macrostuttering at times (and just in general lower fps than I expect), which I feel should not be happening with my machine and setup. I went 2k or less textures for nearly everything as well so I'm not running out of Vram. Just not sure what else to change at this point other than ENB.
  4. So I'm looking for a quality ENB that has a good mix of performance and visual effect. I would make and customize my own, but I haven't really found a good tutorial on what each ENB setting does and I don't know my way around ENB enough to really do so. I know how I want things to look, I just don't know how to accomplish them. Like specifically, something with a strong glow is a very desired effect. Not many ENBs I have tried really have that. I originally started with Realvision ENB and really liked it. Then I made a swap to Kountervibe ENB and fell in love with it. After Kountervibe ENB nothing else just looked as good. Even going back to the newest version of Realvision, everything just felt bleached out and just didn't pop or wow me. As awesome as Kountervibe is though, I'm trying to reduce macro stuttering and stabilize my frame rate more. At times outdoors I get anywhere between 20-40 or so fps. Some times I could be getting 40+ fps and then when I turn or make a sudden movement, I get a massive dip in fps for a second or so (macro stutter). I'd like at least a stable 40+. Some things I like: + God rays. I love me those God rays. Nothing is more fantastic than riding by trees and seeing rays shine through. Realvision had a fantastic sun and atmosphere, and K ENB it was more subtle and barely noticeable. + Glowing things. I like things that glow to really pop. I want glow maps to have an intense shine. K ENB does a really fantastic job at this. One thing I didn't like about Realvision is anything that glows is way too subtle for me. It's almost not noticeable whatsoever. + Shiny things. The specular power for K ENB I thought was pretty excellent. Realvision was pretty lackluster. I like shinies. Some things I don't like: - overbearing or really dark shadows. While I absolutely loved K ENB, the shadows were too dark at times for my tastes. I'm talking like I can be in the middle of a forest during day time, and it's hard to see the ground beneath my character because the shadows are so intense. I made some tweaks to the shadows to make them less intense, but I would still like them more... realistic I suppose. - undersaturated colors or just in general low contrast. I suppose the SweetFX had more to do with this than the actual ENB though. - too much film grain. I don't mind a little film grain effect, but as much as I love K ENB, the film grain was a bit too strong and made things look a bit... well grainy lol. Was more noticeable outdoors across distances. Hardware essentials: Core i7 3770k @4.5ghz GTX 980 4gb 16gb ram @1600 mhz So yeah. If anyone could point me towards an excellent ENB set up with a good mix of performance and visuals, I would appreciate it. Or if anyone knows of an excellent tutorial I can look at to help me make my own ENB, I would be appreciative of that as well. Looking forward to suggestions. Thanks! Some ENBs I have tried: Realvision Project ENB Kountervibe ENB Tranquility ENB Seasons of Skyrim ENB T.A.Z. Visual Overhaul
  5. I can't reinstall Dawnguard though. I have too many mods that rely on it. The main mod that relies on it is the custom race I'm using for the character I'm playing. Disabling Dawnguard means I have to disable at least 1/3 of my load order and most of those mods are essential. Unfortunately, the game wouldn't even load if I did that or else I would reinstall it. I'd like to though  I haven't tried using the Better Vampires to cure. Perhaps I could give that a go instead of doing the Rising at Dawn quest all together. I have loaded a save earlier in the quest line (right before I dropped off Serana to the castle and told her father to piss off again), and did the Rising at Dawn quest before even starting the "A New Order". I still ran in to the same problem. Although I wasn't a vampire anymore and didn't have the quest interrupted, the end result was still the "Prophet" quest not triggering, and Serana just casually chilling in her castle. Also, my character is a custom race. Temptress. I used a custom race for my first Dawnguard playthrough but she wasn't a vampire so that could be it. I'll try uninstalling it and giving it a shot, but I'm not sure if it will work. With Immersive Citizens, you have to start a new game for the changes to become persistent and take effect. I think in order to completely remove the effects of the NPCs it has, you may have to restart a new game as well. I'm not sure, but I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I'll pop open Dawnguard in the creation kit again and look at the quest aliases and try to do some more investigating. Thanks for the replies. I'll try curing via Better Vampires, and/or removing Immersive Citizens and see if that does anything.
  6. I'll bump one last time I suppose to see if anyone has any suggestions or solutions.
  7. Long post describing the problem and troubleshooting done to try to solve. TL;DR version - Dawnguard is broken, can't advance past completion of "A New Order" ("Prophet" will not trigger). I've tried force starting via console and tons of solutions like resetting Serana, etc. Please help fix. EDIT: Load Order (some of the plugins like X pack combined are done by me and aren't "normal" mods, they are just merged armor sets or other things) So as the title says, I'm having a major issue with Dawnguard at the moment which I cannot figure out. I have Googled for hours and tried everything I can possibly think of to troubleshoot it. With that said, I'm only having this issue on my Thief character Grace. My Ranger character Alyssa has already completed Dawnguard with 0 issues, which is why I can't figure out the cause of the quest line getting stuck on Grace. Anyway, some background: I restarted my character Grace after Alyssa (who has already completed Dawnguard). I turned Grace in to a vampire at the start of the game (not vampire lord though) via MCM menu with Better Vampires. I played through the game and have ran in to a couple issues here and there (Lydia using Throw Voice shout instead of normal follower dialogue which is a known bug, Proventus Avenicci not selling me Breezehome because dialogue is missing, etc), but no quests were broken that I knew of until I hit Dawnguard. So I completed the following Dawnguard quests: 1. Dawnguard 2. Awakening 3. Bloodline (I chose to refuse the "gift" which put me on the Dawnguard side) 4. A New Order So in the last stage of "A New Order", when you enter Fort Dawnguard with Gunmar and Sorine, Isran will shine light down and see who is a vampire... and discovers that I'm a Vampire and gives me the "Rising at Dawn" quest to cure myself. I have done so, report back and Isran finally finishes his speech and tells me that Serana is upstairs waiting for me and to follow him to go talk to her. Upon completion of "A New Order", the next quest "Prophet" does not start. After Isran tells me to go upstairs and the journal is updated to reflect "A New Order" is complete, nothing happens. The journal doesn't update with a new quest, and the quest marker to follow Isran is not present. I go upstairs, and Serana is not in the torture room where she should be. She is still in Castle Volkihar when I use the "player.moveto" console command. Isran just goes upstairs to the torture room, stops for a second where he would normally engage Serana in conversation, and turns around and walks off because she is not there. I have loaded previous saves to restart the Dawnguard quest and this happens every time. I have used the "moveto player" command to move Serana to me, and she just casually walks out of the fort after to go back to Castle Volkihar. I have tried using the "resurrect" command, the "recycleactor" command. I have tried using the "setstage DLC1VQ03Hunter" to every single stage of the quest just trying to advance it at all, and no matter which stage I try to set (even 200 which completes the quest), it remains stuck at 00 and will not start. Now I can use the console to start the next 2 quests, "Chasing Echoes" and "Seeking Disclosure" just fine. However, the quest line is then broken because "Prophet" was never completed and I am missing an objective to obtain the Dragon Elder Scroll. So at this point I'm just at my wits end trying to figure out how to advance my Dawnguard quest line without having to restart my game. I have seen a suggestion somewhere to uninstall Dawnguard, save, and reinstall Dawnguard to restart the whole Dawnguard quest line, but the problem with that is like half of my load order requires Dawnguard and I would have to disable those mods... which breaks my game. So far with every single thread, reddit post, or anything said anywhere on the internet I have not found a single solution to this or a good means of fixing it. Does anyone have any ideas of what to try, or know what I can do in order to force the "Prophet" quest to start so that I may continue with my Dawnguard quest line? Again, I didn't have this issue with my other character Alyssa. I was able to complete it with her just fine. I'm just wondering if starting out as a vampire on Grace may have contributed to breaking Dawnguard somehow. The only new mod I've installed since my other play through was Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul and updates to Unofficial Skyrim Patches, but I'm pretty sure that doesn't touch Serana. Either way, help please  It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could help me solve this issue.
  8. I agree 100%. When I make mods I make sure to name the plugins to something that makes sense. I also have a habit or renaming mods when I download them because stupid names just drive me nuts. All I can say is thank Tannin for Mod Organizer. Saved me so many times I can't even begin to describe. I'm in the same boat. I was shocked when I looked at Steam the other day and said I had 692 hours on Skyrim. I was like what? I've only played a fraction of that. All those mod testings, redoing things, starting new characters, etc. Anyway, point of this thread. You have at least one modder who is on board and understands exactly what you mean and your frustrations. I don't know if that's a help, but at least it's a start :p
  9. I didn't want to start up a new thread since I'm having a similar issue and this thread isn't too old. If this was the wrong choice please let me know and I can make a new thread (I didn't want to clog up the forums). I updated my avatar, and the new avatar shows fine on the forums, but the main site it still shows the old one. I have logged out, cleared my internet cache, etc. I have also logged in from a different computer that never uses the Nexus to check and my avatars are still different from the main site and the forum. Not a life threatening issue, just a minor head scratcher I suppose. I thought I would bring it back up and see if there is a "fix" for it or not. Also not using gravatar, I just uploaded an image straight from my pc.
  10. Disregard this please, the problem has been resolved. It appears it was a bug with Creation Kit just not being able to find the 0 weight meshes. I was able to resolve this issue by removing the mesh paths, saving, closing Creation Kit and then resetting the mesh paths and viola, 100% working in game. Simple enough solution, but I didn't realize Creation Kit had this type of bug. I figured I would at least post it in case anyone else runs in to this issue so it would help them if they search since I wasn't able to find anything myself. Thanks a lot to Kalambre who has helped me a tremendous amount with my body change script and pointing out this bug and solution to me. Couldn't have done it without you mate. Anyway new Kitsune race coming soon. Fully HDT functional tails, ears, body, etc. Male/female support complete with MCM menu options for body changes, tail changes (supports 1-9 tails), etc. as well as RGB slider to recolor ears, whiskers, and tails. 100% compatibility with other races, eyes, hairs, etc via RaceCompatibility script. Also after Kitsune release will be my Angel and Fallen Angel races that come with 100% HDT functional wings, body, etc. and the same features as Kitsune (i.e. MCM body options, etc). Also 100% compatibility with other races, eyes, hairs, etc via RaceCompatibility script.
  11. I'm posting this hoping maybe someone wouldn't mind helping me find a solution to a minor (but pretty annoying) issue I'm having. So I'm making a new race mod Kitsune. Well the race mod is done and I've been playing with it for a while for personal use, but I decided I'll go ahead and release it as a package mod for others so I'm now adding options, config menu, the whole nine yards. Basically a bunch of stuff I don't need or use but I thought would be awesome for others. One of those "features" of the mod is an in game body swap via MCM menu. Reason I'm doing in game is because different people use different body styles, but an in game body swap impacts armor usage since some armors may work with one body but not another. Using a body change in game now allows you to use an armor for another body with no texture issues. Anyway, issue: I'm using 3 body types (CBBE, SeveNBase, UNP), and put in a 4th option to restore the original body. The CBBE and original body options work absolutely perfectly. After the body swap in MCM they are fully functional, use the proper textures, weight slider compatible, etc. However while the SeveNBase and UNP swap fine and use the right textures, etc., they only use the 100 weight slider model no matter what weight I set my character to which causes a neck gap at anything lower than 100 weight. They are defined in exactly the same way as the CBBE and original body (I literally just copied the records and changed the data anyway), and even more so the original body is the SAME model as the SeveNBase lol. I put each body in their own folders to avoid any potential conflicts (I was originally pointing the "original" and "SeveNBase" paths to the same body but I split them up and gave each their own). I double checked and even triple checked to make sure each property is pointing to the right mesh, using the right textures (no texture "seams", just neck gap from the body not using the 0 weight slider), etc. Calling RaceMenu and messing with weight sliders does not make a difference. Swapping back and forth bodies does not do anything (the same 2 bodies that were working perfectly still work, and the 2 offenders still have the gap). At this point I'm just at a total loss as to why these two bodies are ONLY using the 100 weight and was hoping a pair of fresh eyes could maybe find something I've missed. Screen shots of annoying problem: Original Body - 0 weight no issues Original Body - 100 weight no issues CBBE Body - 0 weight no issues CBBE Body - 100 weight no issues SeveNBase Body - 0 weight neck gap because 0 weight mesh is not being used... also notice this is the exact SAME mesh as the original body SeveNBase Body - 100 weight no neck gaps at 100 weight because that is what game is using UNP Body - 0 weight again same issue as SeveNBase... 0 weight mesh not being used UNP Body - 100 weight 100 weight so... neck is fine Anyway, if anyone has some words of advice, a solution, or maybe can at least point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Honestly without the options the mod is working perfectly fine and doing everything I want it to. I'm just trying to add extra sweeteners in for others and release the mod for others to enjoy  Thanks.
