I want to create Kitty Pryde, toggle 'tcl', and pretend I'm living some AU Days of Future Past! Help!

Hi, I'd like it if I was able to use the keyboard shortcuts, 'M' to go to the Map, 'I' to go to the inventory, etc, while the pip-boy is open. I'm always pressing the shortcut key when it's open by accident and the vanilla config stops them; and rather than changes my habits I think this would actually be useful! Thanks if anyone does do it!
