  1. I would like to suggest that the nexus sites be given a single separate category SOLELY for body replacers. Not for mods requiring them, etc, but only for the body replacers themselves. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has found the worst part about reinstalling to be the time spent wading through page after page of mods that require a certain body, just trying to find the body itself.
  2. I'd like to start by noting that I do not expect an explanation, though if there is one, I'd love to know it. I first started playing Oblivion last year, after finally getting a comp decent enough to run it. I'd been playing Morrowind for ages, and immediately jumped into modding Oblivion. I never bothered with archive invalidation. I knew you were expected to do it, but I never thought about doing it. So, at this point, I wasn't doing it manually, didn't have OBMM set up to do it..didn't do it, period. Then I started playing FO3 sometime over the summer. I started modding it, starting using merged patches and eventually, archive invalidation. I'd never had any issues not using archive invalidation on Oblivion, not even the ones you were supposed to have. FO3 didn't work that way for me. Now I just reinstalled Oblivion, and suddenly, everything hates me unless I use archive invalidation. Sooo....what was different the first time? O.o I used a lot of mods that added or replaced textures before, never needed it, and now I suddenly do. It's not really a problem, it just makes me curious.
  3. I've got the ideas, just not the, y'know, knowledge of how to do it. I'm not sure if it's feasible with Oblivion's scripting engine, but here's my idea. In each of the taverns is a job board. Activating it is like talking to an NPC, you get a list of types, and then after choosing a type, a list of jobs and pay, with descriptions followed by a yes/no to accept. As far as the quests themselves, this would use a sort of RNG system. You've got your types: Bounty (track someone down who's running for their life, kill them, bring back an item they'd drop (ideally, a quest marker would be used, but it would always be on the first landmark within X of them. Can't make it too easy!), Asassination (kill someone (possibly with guards and such) and then get outta dodge), and then some odd job stuff (bring x of y ingredient, escort somewhere, find an item of some sort). The RNG part is thus: There's 4-5 of each type of job available. Every one or two week, a new set replaces the old. The jobs are created thus: the random generator picks a job, then an NPC (who it's turned into). It then picks the final part of the equation, which depending on job, might be an ingredient, place, or another NPC. To make this work properly quest-wise, if you're required to kill someone, it would involve creating a clone of them in-game, who (as far as I know) would not have lasting consequences on the game if they died. For maximum immersion, the actual NPC could get locked away somewhere for a while :P) In summary, is this feasible at all, or should I just go back to hitting goblins with swords?
  4. Yep. I've tried to edit some of Ashara's companions to use Desuchan's Kawa-Khajitt race. I made her mod an ESM using TES4Gecko (but left the ESP version unchecked, though I'm somewhat sure that's not the problem.) Not only does it cause crashes trying to get anywhere near said companion, but half the objects in the world appear to be missing, leading to everyone falling. And falling. And falling. I'll admit it was kind of funny when this happened in Bruma, as it happened during an NPC saying something like "This madness is disturbing!" Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever? My head's exploding trying to even come up with a theory, I know next to nothing about modding. Edit: ok, I'm an idiot. Redoing her race, hair, etc using the ESM instead of the ESP fixed that. Now for the other problem..what do I do about the tail? She's got a dark line where her tail should be that goes all over the place, and I have a feeling that's related to her other issues, like randomly deciding whether to follow me as she should, or waiting until I'm way out of sight.
  5. Yep. For some reason, though, the San Andreas Mod Installer refuses to work with anything above 1.1. *shrug* I've got it fixed now, though, so s'all good.
  6. Update: (also, sorry if it's not ok to doublepost for new info/bumping after a period of time) I forgot I recently uninstalled the .net framework and reinstalled version 1.1 to be able to use a mod installer for a different game, could this be causing my issues? Edit: This hasn't helped either. I am officially out of ideas now.
  7. I thought so as well, but for two things: 1) Keyboard's worked fine with FO3 since I started playing it..um..sometime last spring, I think. 2) No keyboard issues anywhere else, only problems are in Fallout. I just completed yet another reinstall, as it's crashing every 5 minutes, which is also very odd. In all this time, until now, it's been rare for me to see 3-5 crashes a week.
  8. Alright, I'll try that Game Booster thing. I defragged with Auslogics, but it hasn't seemed to help much, which..isn't really surprising, as it reported only 3% fragmentation.
  9. UPDATE: PROBLEM IS FIXED. Since there's a lot of documentation of people having this problem, and hardly any of people having even the slightest idea of how to fix it, I'll outline what I did. I'm not sure WHICH fixed it, but on the bright side, there's only two things. 1. I just uninstalled the Combined Community Codec Pack, as I hear some of the codes have several issues with FO3. 2. Let's hope it was number 1, because 2 is a major PITA. I had to get rid of "quartz.dll". On Win7 64bit, it's in C:\Windows\SysWow64. These may not be the exact steps needed, as it took me a lot of fiddling to get what I needed one. A: Find the quartz.dll file. B: Rightclick on it, click properties, then the Security tab. C: Under Permissions, click Advanced. Switch to the Owner tab. D: Click Edit, and change the owner to yourself. E: Click Apply, OK, etc, until you're back to just Explorer. F: Rightclick it again, Properties, Security. G: This time, stay on the Permissions tab. H: Click Change Permissions. I: Find the account you previously made the owner. In my case, Users(Wolf-PC\Users). Select it, click Edit. J: Check the Allow box for the very first option, Full Control. Click OK, Apply, etc. K: This step is optional, but probably a good idea. Make an archive of some kind, rar or what-have-you, containing the quartz.dll file, just in case you end up needing it again for whatever reason. Don't just copy it to another folder, as that doesn't seem to help. L: Delete the quartz.dll file. You can also try simply unregistering it from an elevated command prompt using "regsvr32 -u quartz.dll", but even with permissions changed, it still ended in access denied for me. This has solved every issue I had, though I'm still flummoxed on how the issues came about in the first place. ______________________ Yesterday, Fallout 3 started having some weiiiird problems. It would randomly stop accepting input, and on some occassions, actually take control of my character. The extent of its control seems to be limited to walking about in random directions. I figured probably something got corrupted, heavy mod user, I'll just reinstall and that'll fix it. Well, today, I started all over, using *none* of the same mods, and...I'm starting to get the same problems. If it helps any, my load order this time around: I don't have the load order I was using the first time it happened, but it was pretty simple then. I was just running FWE. Now I'm running a new installation, new mods, new saves, etc. I completely wiped the Fallout folder after uninstalling - FOSE, FOMM, all the leftover esps, meshes, etc - all gone. It's as clean an install as you can get. Running archive invalidation as well. I don't know where to even begin going about troubleshooting with this. I don't think it has anything to do with location, either. The first time it was happening was around the Citadel, since then it's been in Rivet City, some Metro, Tenpenny Tower, and now in Megaton. It may also be worth noting that around the time this began, I also was suddenly having extreme lag issues. My laptop has had no trouble running it on Ultra settings, and then overnight, it became a chore to get decent speed running Medium. The re-installation doesn't seem to have helped that, either. I've had lag issues before when I had low disk space, but now I've got about 1/5th of the disk free (100/450 gigs), and that hasn't helped either. The only idea I have now is that possibly defragging it would help, and I'm going to try that now. Hopefully someone here has an idea, I'm way out of my league on this one.
  10. I'm not sure you can remap the rightclick to not drop things...the only remapping options I have are for the "action" keys. Moving, shooting, that sort of thing.
  11. Doing it for all isn't really needed, just on an individual level. Also, I stand corrected, a mod is needed to add the quantity drop. Edit: A mod that already exists adds quantity drop. I should probably make that clear, since that's not what I need. Just the yes/no on dropping.
  12. This should be a pretty simple mod to make, I would think... It seems that rightclicking an inventory item drops it automatically. My hands tend to twitch a bit, which leads to accidentally dropping things. And it seems like they always end up somehow traveling to areas I can't find them, or just disappearing in general. Can somebody possibly make a mod for me, which just adds a yes/no confirmation before actually dropping an item? It'd be much appreciated. I know there's a quantity thing for dropping multiples, so it could possibly just be as simple as causing the quantity to show up for all items, even if you only have one. This is assuming it's possible to cancel dropping when there's a quantity.
  13. Alright, I know absolutely nothing about modding, or I'd do this on my own >.< I'm hoping to find someone with the knowledge to create a set of gauntlets, preferably in both white and black versions. Cloth, bandage, whatever you want to call them, like a boxer would wear. Kind of like this: http://www.boxinggyms.com/tips/wraps/images/basic28.jpg A Thai version would also be nice, they use rope/twine: http://www.chaophrayamuaythai.com/images/handwrapping/HW%204.gif So, is anyone capable of this? I'm certainly hoping so. Thanks in advance!
  14. Ah, I see. Thanks for the prompt response :)
  15. I've been trying to comment on several mods (Oblivion, if that makes any difference), and when I click the "add comment" button, I get the popup regarding the rules. I check the box and click submit, and...it just refreshes and makes me do it again, with no end. Any ideas how I can fix this/if I can fix this?
