  1. Did you have lately a sluggish internet speed? The following could be a reason why. The folder "$Windows.~BT" hiddes the installation package for Win10 up to 6GB - Microsoft confirmed it. One solution to escape is to remove the folder, disable automatic updates and join the shitstorm :D As a customer, you can only hope they will stop this. But what's their next move? Do you have other tricks to avoid the force of M$? I'm not talking about other systems, since it's no alternative for most people. Please share your knowledge :) Source is in german: http://www.chip.de/news/Vorsicht-mit-Windows-7-8-Zwangs-Update-auf-Windows-10-von-Microsoft_83181075.html
  2. It seems like there is no graphic card listed, then it's probably something like an Intel HD. Then it's definitely college only. You should use Intel graphics only for desktop and 2D games, because such cards and thin laptops are susceptible to overheating, even with medium or low settings. Or do you know what graphic card is built-in? Correct if I'm wrong :D
  3. Microsoft goes crazy. The privacy nightmare known from Windows 10 comes through the update packages KB3022345 and KB3068708 and KB3075249 and KB3080149. Microsoft itself calls it "Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking", to receive some current features from Windows 10. Unmark/Uninstall them to keep your system away from advanced spying. Probably more such packages arrive in the course of time. If you don't care about your privacy, ignore this topic. 4. For the latest games an i5 6600k is good enough. Games are more GPU oriented. You need i7's for stuff like fast 1080p / 4K video decoding.
  5. Earlier this week I could help an friend with the solution of my first post here. Splitting the computer through a dualboot system. Now he uses Windows for gaming and Gnu/Linux for the rest. At the beginning he was skeptical about that thing, but showing him how easy it works changed his mind. Yes, you have to be a bit tech savy, otherwise you loose your patience :D What Windows 10 really is: http://digitalclaritygroup.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/trap.png
  6. Hey :) Every part of your hardware needs enough power to take full advantage. You can't play with ENB's with an new GPU and an ancient CPU. Bottlenecking is the result. GPU takes care of the pixel job CPU takes care of the calculate job Alternative try this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/63839/?
  7. Short answer ... Windows 10 ( o ) ( o ) is buggy as hell :D Check your PC for something broken Or try Teracopy http://codesector.com/teracopy
  8. Hi there :-) FPS drops while recording is normal, because Fraps and other recorders are resource hungry. To free up resources you may use a lighter recorder application and close all programs you don't need while gaming. Also disable all bling effects on desktop and keep your system minimalistic. This could fix your other problem as well.
  9. "Make childs to save humanity", but we have more than enough. There's nothing wrong with being gay or lesbian, it's just the way a human feels his life. Tolerating this behavior seems not easy for every part of the world.
  10. Well, every human is different. I would not welcome it, if Microsoft knows and saves everything about me like name, telephone number, location, personal stuff etc. This is probably going to be a data bank of users world wide. Who knows? Plus I doubt turning off the settings really turns it off, since a friend told me his network analyze tools like Wireshark show him more results than ever before. I found a suitable gif-picture for this situation: http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/t_original/1372618229328399206.gif
  11. To avoid installation frustration make sure you grab an LTS-version (current 14.04), because normal versions have security updates only for 9 months. Ubuntu is definitely a great choice, but for an familiar interface like Windows, Zorin OS might be better: http://zorin-os.com/ Before you install the system you can try it from your medium that doesn't touch the hard drive, as long as you don't mount it ;)
  12. what happens without mods? maybe an bad mod or corrupted game ...
  13. It's no easy situation, for everybody. Thus I apologize if I was a bit flashy :) To tell from another perspective: For people who want to upgrade, just turn off what is turned on in the privacy settings and it should be okay for you. Gaming in Gnu/Linux is a vicious circle. People will only switch for much more games. And game developers will only make games for much more users. Just use what's right for you. At the end of the day, it's just a machine.
  14. Use brain booster, these tools just harm the system ...
  15. I understand what you say. Im just a user, no fanboy. "a real system" ---> Yes with Windows you have a system you can work with. If you can live with spyware there is no reason to avoid Windows 10. "there is a way out" ---> This is just a solution for people who wish to switch. The topic here is "Spyware", so this would be an option to talk about. I don't want to talk more than absolutely necessary.
  16. No, you're wrong. I was here since September last year. Just like anybody else, downloaded mods to play with. Now Vagrant0 started a discussion about Spyware and I just wanted to share my knowledge as former Windows user and as current Gnu/Linux user. People defend Microsoft because everything works for them and don't give a s*** about freedom and privacy in the virtual life. You can say what you want, but it doesn't change the fact Microsoft spies on you. They keep their system top secret and you don't know what happens behind scenes. Windows 7 and 8 will run out someday. What are you gonna do? Do have any idea how Windows 11 is going to be? Or everything above? Things won't get better without an radical change. If you want to keep Windows, simply keep it, but don't cry about spyware. Nobody tells you to use Windows or Gnu/Linux. The choice is yours. I just wanted to open my mouth to say you, there is an way out. For some users easier, for some users harder. The time, where Gnu/Linux was hard to use is over. There are even distros that have the look and feel of Windows. Superior applications with superior quality for every task. Low system requirements to run on older hardware. The ability to customize the desktop to your personal liking. Working together as community to make it even better. No system is perfect, but a real system begins with Open Source and respect to the users.
  17. This is not gonna work. See here: https://www.gnu.org/proprietary/malware-microsoft.en.html
  18. Instead of upgrading you could make a dualboot system. Just keep your Windows 7 for gaming + favorite applications and move everything else to Gnu/Linux. At bootup you can choose which system you would like to boot. With each release Microsoft wants more control over the user. I'm a former user and gamer. I know what I'm talking about. I understand, Windows-users don't like Gnu/Linux, because you are accustomed to Windows, but it offers everything good, what Windows can do. The only downside is the poor number of available games. Therefor it gives you what Windows never could: Freedom, Privacy, Security, Independence, Open Source. Just use it alongside Windows and get familiar with it. More users means more games. Someday perhaps, you can drop Windows completely. We don't want to rule the world, we just offer you a free alternative, to free yourself from proprietary software.
