  1. heh, have you actually seen HDR or JBTextures? I mean that is some damn impressive stuff to consider. That is if you got equipment to actually use them.
  2. haha, yeah forgot about that part and honestly I don't think we need new engine. what we need is PC optimized current engine with out bugs and a lot of landscape/enviromental improvements. Funny thing is I don't see mods done on current dragon age for enviroment, landscape, animations. Most be something restricted by toolset, but hell I checked toolset and there's wide area of animations to work with, but I think the main problem is that the engine still bugs the hell out of them even, if someone would bother to try to improve them. Well, dunno about keeping character.. It would be damn nice to just continue the dream world with new ability or something to cover the higher levels and much larger opponent levels perhaps creatures too. what I hate the most is the 'prequel' idea. What goes to other characters I don't think that's an essential to 10/10 game expansion. What goes to crashing. That's got to be badly optimized system you got there. These 'microsoft optimized' windows systems needs quite a bit work before even consider working anything with them. redists, forced supports, drivers I mean. Anyway, I've got 1 crash on ostagar and that's pretty much is on v1.00 and v1.02a second run.
  3. Dreamful thinking: I sure hope they kick the console memory limitations out of the window and I sure hope they improve the engine quite a bit. Also wasn't awakening supposed to be an sequel not an expansion o well can't get new engine everyday I guess, hehe. Wonder if they are smart enough to actually include whole game engine config this time to somewhere for users to edit accordingly to their hardware.
  4. Well, actually I tested them on overwrite\ overwrite\textures\high at game folder as well in my documents\..\overwrite\ and documents\..\overwrite\textures\high It doesn't exactly matter where you stick them. game still loads them and yeah, got them, atm, on '\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override'. I copied the JB Textures there first dumped the Aces HiRes Pack 1 straight over that. says 3,9GB of textures. Just figured like at least no files are missing. :P -- Is there anyway I could improve the top-down view? I mean lets dump there like 4Gb of textures(Maybe if we would replace all the medium quality to ultra high assuming textures switch to medium or something when top-down) and make ground objects stick would be improvement for some odd reason the textures change as soon you go top-down. I cannot really understand how to change that. We have the hardware to run 3 of these games same time, if needed so don't see really where's the problem. I know Aces or HiRes Pack 1 devel/modder is working on entire texture section as far his description of first pack. Wondering, if that means all from top to bottom will be changed.
  5. Well, there's at least 3 of these HD Texture packs available here at Dragon Age Nexus. JB, HiRes Pack 1 and HDR. I've tested them all and game still looks incredible bad(for the note it ain't the textures, heh, it's the vanishing stuff thanks to consoles). Speed issues I don't think so running clean 100FPS everywhere, but hey perhaps I am doing something wrong although can't figure what just dump the textures .dds files to overwrite of game install folder. but I would be curious is there actually an 1 HD texture pack replacing everything? and what do other people here use to improve textures? Hope no one doesn't get me wrong is I also say that I cannot understand people who doesn't 100% game at top-down view. Only reason I would ever even considering 'over the shoulder' or '3rd person' views would be because of textures or simply of the crazy camera. Being many years IWD, Baldur's Gate fan can't imaging playing decent RPG any other way. opinions on textures anyone?
  6. hmm, as for suggestion why isn't there an torrent alternative? The textures are amazing in size couple 100Mbits behind there would do quite nice and I am sure people are willing to support. (Not that it's bad to have servers, but, atm, looking 40KB/s. Just think community sharing would be really nice plan B)
  7. yep, nightmare can do that. Settled myself with the hard for now assuming the saame policy as before on AD&D. AD&D Core rules always were 1 above 'normal' so that actually should be used always I think. Although, while this has absolutely nothing to do with D&D.
