  1. Hello again, Memory blocks were in fact the problem. The SKSE memory patch was not kicking in for some reason, and following the instructions at STEP Forums solved it. Most everything is green in Wrye Bash. There are a few oranges, but i don't know what orange means. All ESPs are fully cleaned. No reds though. Thanks for your help though.
  2. Hello all and sundry, I am having tons of random - and then persistent - crashes to desktop. I have multiple saves, and playing on one will be fine for a while, and suddenly it will catch 'CTD fever' or something, and then almost anything will trip it up; simply hitting ESC to save will crash it. I change to a different character, and the pattern repeats. Changing to an earlier save will fix the problem. Temporarily. Is there a tool i can use that will point me in the direction of the problem? Because i'm at my wits' end. PC specs: Skyrim is Legendary v1.9.32.0.8 I use Mod Organizer v1.3.11 SKSE v1.7.3 Following the STEP guide i use Wrye Bash (Smash?), TES5Edit, and various patchers. My mod list follows STEP: Extended, and then about 100 more mods (is this too much, even with plugin merging?): In reverse order. The ones with '-' are not active. Load order: Quite a few merged plugins... SKSE.ini Skyrim.ini SkyrimPrefs.ini ENBLocal.ini I've played with most of the commonly pointed at .ini settings, but none of them helped. I'll be trying Memory Blocks Log later on, to see if that helps. Please and thank you for your time, dlseanan
  3. I have run LOOT, yes. That's not the load order, that's the complete mod list (left pane of MO). Also it's in reverse order for some reason, so the patches are after the mods they patch. I got that from my profile folder in the ModOrganizer directory, called modlist.txt. I also applied the skeleton arm fix with FNIS, yes. I actually have installed XP32 Maximum Skeleton, and immediately after posting i realised that and started some investigation. I have installed the XPMS 1.94 main file, and followed these STEP instructions, except under "Bow and Quiver", i chose the Frostfall option. The notice on this page has me worried and confused though; I do use Frostfall, so i went over to the Skyrim Revisited page, and that instructs to use the Groovtama's XPMS Extended main file. Can i use both main files? Is that even necessary/compatible? I want to retain skeleton support for both Wet and Cold and Frostfall.
  4. Hi all and sundry, My skeleton (.hkx file?) seems to be broken. How exactly do i fix this? Symptoms are the typical weapons, shields and staffs at the characters feet, both PC and NPC. Vanilla sheath points work fine, i.e. one weapon at waist & shield on hand, but anything more doesn't. This seems to be a Dual Sheath Redux problem (not blaming, just saying that dual sheathing etc. is it's primary feature). And scrolling the mod page returns that it's likely a problem with my in-game skeleton. My mod list is extensive (200+), but i've tested with a completely mod-free new game (not even Unofficial Patches - but with DSR obvs), console'd in two daggers at the start, and same problem, so i doubt it's mod-conflict related. I may be wrong though. It's happened before. Mods of interest though are FNIS (because it deals with skeletons), and Equipping Overhaul. EO was my first suspect as i imagined there would be easy conflict between it and DSR, but it seems not. Here is my mod-list (the ones with dashes aren't active): Really out of my depth here, dlseanan
  5. TL; DR of sorts... Will dropping my uGridsToLoad down to 3 help me at all? Less grids loaded, less memory usage. I just remembered there's that setting.
  6. From the basic enboost step guide (ENBoost - STEP Project wiki): Although when digging deeper into the advanced guide referred: I'm not 100% sure what this means, which is why i left it at 512 - also, i think i elected for no stutter at the time, but i think i'll do some experimentation and testing with that value. Thanks for the tip. Can you please point out the unsafe settings i've used? I've done reading through multiple sources and have tried to amalgamate the the safest-looking settings from each of them. Maybe there's too many adjustments there, although a lot of them are (allegedly) set to the Skyrim defaults. From the nexus page of Skyrim Startup Memory Editor: So it seems like that won't help me as i have the very latest SKSE. Also, I almost never go over even 4GB of RAM (out of 8), including the RAM used by enbhost.exe, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Unless what you're talking about is how fast it moves things around in there, in which case how do i help it do what it do? I know of these super-cards, the 970 and 980. Remember i'm a student, i don't have funding for such niceties. 4GB sounds damn luxurious i must say, but i think a solid 2GB will let my machine breathe easy, without constricting my wallet. I'll probably direct my energies there for now though, try and find something good. Thanks for all the fish.
  7. No, i don't currently have "other_d3d9.dll" in my directory, and i don't think i ever have. I do have a regular "d3d9.dll", which came from the wrapper version of ENB. Those enblocal.ini proxy settings i haven't messed with, as far as i know (maybe enbhost.exe has adjusted them?). Also i have never installed SweetFX ever, and the only memory patch i've used is the packaged SKSE one. It seems like i can leave it the way it is though, if both the bools are false, right? That's disappointing. But also quite amazing to think we've moved so far in four years. I'm sure i have the mod of which you speak, Skyrim Performance Plus, if i'm not mistaken. Sad that it doesn't help with exteriors. If it's not too much to ask, could you point me towards 2GB+ cards that have a good performance/cost ratio? When phrases like "1000 cuda cores" get said, i start to feel out of my depth.
  8. From what you're describing, jones177, it seems like the card can only load a certain total amount before it kicks it. Surely it's more fluid than that, loading and unloading as it comes (screen panning, character walking, etc.)? I also have quite a few NPC mods, but aren't NPC's more taxing on the CPU via scripting, rather than the GPU (assuming largely vanilla textures and meshes)? I think, short of getting a brand spanking new card, i'm going to have to go through my mod list on nexus and look for performance versions. Sigh... Pretty textures are so nice though. Peace
  9. Also, i have absolutely no idea what an alternate proxy library is or does, forgive me. Will it help and what do i do?
  10. I suspected as much about the graphics card. Using Skyrim Performance Monitor, it tells me i'm almost always using 99% of my GPU, and all 1024MB of VRAM. Will the game just crash so easily when it can't load all the graphics? All the texture mods i have installed should be listed in my mod list, which is different to my plugin list. I did optimise all of them, but that may not be enough. Will dropping resolution do anything? Playing on 1366*768 doesn't seem to change anything. P.S. Could a moderator or admin delete my extra posts, please? I didn't mean to do that.
  11. Hi guys, Yes it's another crash to desktop post. My larger question is this; Is there something in particular that is crashing my game, or am i just pushing the Skyrim engine past its limit? The smaller questions are then the details. We'll make those up as we investigate. These CTD's generally happen after about an hour of play, but are most likely to occur when walking towards towns or cities, or when opening a SkyUI overlay (inventory screens, mostly); my sphincter clenches every time i loot something now. Interior cells fare better than exterior ones, but i'm guessing that's expected. Here are my PC specs: Skyrim itself is Legendary v1.9.32.0.8 I use Mod Organizer v1.3.7 SKSE v1.7.3 (beta build) Following the STEP guide i use Wrye Bash (Smash?), Dual Sheath Redux, and Fore's New Idles and their patches - all run through MO. I used DDSopt and STEP's guide to optimise as many textures as i could. Everything is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\ directory, but MO has administrative privileges, so i haven't run into many problems. My mod list follows the full STEP: Extended routine, and then most of REGS, a fair chunk of Survival, some mods i chose myself, and then relevant patches from Modular Morrowloot. Mod list: In reverse order of priority, i guess. Plugin load order: I used TESVEdit to merge a lot of patches and reduce my plugin count. I will readily post what each of these merged patches contains. I tweaked a few .ini settings too, following these resources: Skyrim Configuration Settings, Skyrim Graphics Guide, Skyrim Stability Guide. Skyrim.ini: SkyrimPrefs.ini: And enblocal.ini: enbseries.ini is left as is (default). For those whose eyes aren't tired yet, i have Papyrus logs. I won't post them now though as they don't seem much help (to me). They all end on something different, so i don't think it was the last call that crashed the application. If they are wanted, give a shout. As you can probably see, i've put a lot of time into this before coming here, so i really need a guru or some such to help me. Even if you straight-up tell me that there's too much going on under the hood, i'm still going to have questions.Sorry about all the links, but citing my references is what i'm used to.It's midnight in my time zone, so i'm going to bed now, and i have an exam tomorrow, so don't be offended if i only get back here twelve hours from now. Godspeed and hi-ho silver.
  12. So SkyUI menus work with the new character too. Dammit. Still reliably crashes the other characters though. Installed new beta version of SKSE - does nothing. Reinstalled SkyUI - nothing. Is this just simply corruption of character(s)? Here's my LOOT report, if it helps: I can also get computer specs and Papyrus logs. I'm at my end here.
  13. Done some testing. Disabled SkyUI in Mod Organizer, and its dependents Trade and Barter and Dual Sheath Redux - crashes my old saves on load. Started a new character, get a bunch of warnings from different mods that SkyUI is not installed and MCM is missing, etc. BUT, i can access all menus no problemo. Seems to be SkyUI is the culprit, and I really don't want it to be. Once again, pleading for help.
  14. I can't either, and now the favourites menu won't open. It makes the bass sound for menu opening but nothing actually opens. I really don't want to go through my mods one by one - there's too many dependencies. Anyone have ANY ideas?
  15. Bumping this. Same problem, even the colourful artifacts. Currently, both the magic and inventory menus will 100%, completely reproduce-ably crash the game. Map and Skills aren't too sure if they want to cause nonsense or not.
