  1. Hi, thanks for your replys. I'm currently running Win7, 64 bit with 4Gb enabler on a quad core cpu. Looking forward to what improvements will come my way. Guess I'll have to learn to merge :whistling:
  2. Hi, this is not about a problem. But I was just wondering what I can expect when I soon do an upgrade to my PC. My harddrive has started making funny!! noises, and I'm going to retire it in favor of an SSD. At the same time I'll boost my ram from 4G to 8G. Is there any chance that I'll be able to run more mods -atm my limit is 139, FO3 an NV alike- or will it just! boost my performance a bit. Bernt
  3. Does anyone know if there might be a chance that the DLCs will be realeased in old fashioned DVD form. Like the add ons for FO3. I like to have it cluttering up my shelf, instead of just being on my HDD.
  4. I could give you all of my 120+ mods! But those I think are of the best quality must be: Mike Hanchos Bison Steve Hotel and his Goodsprings Schoolhouse mod. Both are well thought out restoration mods, ending in a couple of nice player homes. Fully voiced, and well done on that. Then there are New Vegas Bounties 1 and 2. Voiced and challenging bounty hunter stuff. The ultimate companion is Willow. Fully voiced and rather complex. It takes time before you've unlocked all of her features. And lastly, with that rig of yours, I'd suggest you check out Ojo Bueno or NMC for some really stunning texture replacers. I run Poco Bueno together with NMCs small pack, but you should be able to do much better. And it's worth it :-)
  5. I'm haven't met that many, but until now I really love Veronica. She reminds me of Bittercup of FO3. Together with her I have Melissa, who's made by the same modder who made the "Sydney companion" mod for FO3 = Very high quality. Those 2 together make for an entertaining team as they're always chatting away in an amusing manner. The other 2 in my present team are Trash and a raider girl called Cyan. Both are personalities in their own right -and a bit weird  Not just blank pieces of paper. It's hard to chose. I read what the critics wrote about the voice acting etc. And some of the NPCs ARE 2 dimensional, but I think that there's a lot of well made and well voiced NPCs, even in vanila game.
  6. Just had a couple of scraps with cazadores -plenty of them. And the mod, "Companion cure", was very valuable. Provided you have antivenom in your inventory, you can easily cure them and give a shot or 2 of stims to boot I play hardcore/normal difficulty.
  7. It's a good thing the modding community will care for things the dev. team didn't :whistling: Try this:www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40695 Just found it and I'm going to test it. Good luck
  8. I'm on my second homebuilt -they usually last 5-6 years with upgrades. I just went from a GeForce 8800GT to a Radeon HDR 5770 and went from "High" to "Ultra". Frames vary wildly though. From 15-20 upwards to around 60. But I usually end up with too many companions :whistling: And then it takes a hit during combat :wallbash: As for cases I do not quite agree. I want my computer to be quiet. And not too big. I have a small ATX (not mini  ) with all together 5 fans running. And I can hardly hear it, even when just sitting and writing. Not to mention gaming or watching a movie
  9. FO3 intalled: 22,8Gb, 19395 files - 2478 folders. Saves, copies of installed mods and mods downloaded but not installed: 22,5Gb NV installed: 12,6Gb, 9884 files - 1529 folders. Saves etc. etc.: 5,34 Gb @FO3: I can only run 139 mods without my game acting strange. So I have to keep a keen eye on the total. Don'tt know yet if that's the case for NV. @NV: Got the game as recently as just before new year.
  10. What I find REALLY refreshing, is the civility of this discussion. Thumbs up to you all, for keeping that tone. My first thought was that the subject could have the potential to be volatile. You've proven otherwise  As for me, I cannot participate. I love to go on vacation in the states, but doesn't know your country well enough to get into some kind of discussion, about the way things are  Edit 1955: I just remembered a random encounter from FO2 called "Café of broken dreams" where all sorts of people in Vault suits discuss why the hero in FO1 was a black haired caucasian only. Male or female. In the café were the blacks, the hispanics, the redheads! you name them, discussing the stereotyping of player characters. So it seems that at least Black Isle was aware that there was a discrepancy. Not that they addressed it in FO2 though
  11. Hi Grayiron, I use my binoculars a lot. Even though I always carry a scoped rifle, I've hotkeyed the binocs at my no. 8. Just like I always have stims in no. 5. That way it's easy to acess.
  12. Well said Daynox  And a big thank you to all you modders who make life so much more interesting to people like me, who can hardly tell a bit from a byte :whistling: I wish I coud give you all Kudos for your work and the time you put into it. But at least i try to give as much feedback as possible. As I think everybody should. If you download a mod and like it, at least endorse. We all need a pat on the shoulder now and then. Not the least when we've done a piece of -un paid- work.
  13. Nothing really exciting about me. I always say to myself: "This time I want to try something new" And at level 10 I'm running around with some sort of scoped rifle picking enemies at long range. Because that's the easiest :whistling: Anyway, I also like to play with grenades. I find them quite useful. At least if you can avoid hitting your -at times very annoying- companions :wallbash: So my usual loadout would be some sort of scoped rifle, a .44, usually a Desert eagle, though I'm fond of the wheelguns as well, 10-15 grenades and a shotgun. In FO3, my absolute favourite was the MG3/MG42. Having experienced it in RL, I really adored that gun. Still looking for a decent MG in NV. Still missing a lot of the game though
  14. Some people just don't know when NOT to speak up. Hope he's learnt from it.
  15. I can upload a male save, level 20+ if you're interested. But not by far near the end-game. I have been running around the wasteland, bounty hunting and doing all sorts of modded quests  Anyway, he's in bad standing with the Legion and a warning from NCR. Too much in bed with Mr House I guess :whistling: I cannot tell which mods I'm using as there's constantly 100+ on my load list. Just as a warning. But let me know and I'll upload it.
  16. 1: No automatic updates. Please be polite and ask first! 2: I'd like to go prone, not just crouch. In FO 1 and 2 it did not matter. But this is a different sort of gameplay. 3: When you can see the head in the middle of the crosshairs, you should not hit the rock hiding the rest of your target.
  17. If you want to be evil, this might help you out a bit:www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38341. I stumbled upon it be mere coincidence. I haven't tried it, but I think it sounds promising. You might also want to check out this: www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37512. Even though I play a boyscout type I would not like to be without her. Despite the comments:"Do you know you're travelling with a f******* murderer!!" She's quite entertaining and a good fighter. Happy trails
  18. I'm not quite sure if I follow you correctly. But, just in case, I just checked both my FO3- and NV installation in FOMM (I'm using the same FOMM for both. Choosing which game to load) All my .esm are checked. When I use the package manager to install a mod, it automatically ticks off the mod in FOMM. I'm merely a user of mods. I do not know how to edit them, or use more than the most basic tools for loading and sorting the mods. That's my level :whistling: But I DO know that load order can be critical. In FO3 I had severe problems with RR companions vault extensions. It took me a lot of trial and error -moving mods up and down- before I could actually enter the vault. Good luck Bernt
  19. Easy Jallard. I don't think it was meant personally. Merely as a reminder to all of us to keep from discussing the more sensitive topics. Some people might read only half a thread and get hotheaded about a single post, without seeing what lead to- and from it. (I know this could be written more elegantly, but english isn't my native tongue )
  20. lv000 has got a point. But my experience is a bit different. I have installed and un-installed lots of mods, both in FO3 and in NV. Most of the time I use FOMM package manager. But many mods are just a single .esp and those I load manually and check in FOMM. Most of the time I have been able to un-install in PM or just by deleting the .esp without consequenses. When I load my save it will say that some things will not be available -do I wish to continue? I say yes and play on. Every now and then I will encounter a mod that has dug itself in so deep that the game crashes when I try to load a save. Then i reactivate it in PM and just uncheck the .esp. And everything is fine  But, that said, I have never tried to do a thorough cleaning, and THEN loading a save. Just my 2 cents
  21. Have been working -HARD  Instead of re-installing, I started to uncheck all my mods, deleting everything I knew needed NVSE. I deleted all NVSE files from the main folder. Then I loaded a save. Apart from the guy being stark naked (Breezes body) and missing his PipBoy (Readius) and all other equipment, the game ran smoothly. I took a run from GS almost to Primm with no problem. Then I started a new guy up from scratch at Doc Mitchell. Loaded all my mods (No NVSE unfortunately) and the game is running smoothly  One thing though. I do not know which version the patched game will show. My version -after all my fooling around- is showing 1.2.0.314
  22. Just to add my 2 cents. After Steam patched my game, it will run for 1-2 minutes, then crash. Unless I leave it, and watch the idle animations. Then it can run for I don't know how long :excl: I think it might have to do with a combination of NVSE and 4Gb enabler, together with the patch. Unfortunately I don't have a backup of the .exe and .dll files, from when my game was running for hours without a glitch. So I'll probably have to backup my saves and make a clean install. And start loading the mods little by little  @Grinded Stone: Wondering what you're doing here. Of course we are all entitled to have our own opinion of things. But if I -for one- didn't mod this otherwise excellent game, I would not be reading/writing here. But just play the vanila game and have a good time with that. And less problems no doubt  But my game was running smoothly before, WITH mods. And then my game gets patched to cope with a DLC that I haven't even bought. That is one thing that makes me angry. Somebody or something messing with my computer without asking me >:(
  23. Now I'm really screwed :wallbash: I downloaded the latest version of NVSE. But before that came out I, had messed so much with my game that I haven't got the latest patch anymore. I thought it would auto patch as soon as I turned steam on line again. But no sir. And now I cannot figure out how to patch the game. Maybe except reinstall the wole thing -including 50+ mods.... That patch really did wreak havoc. At least if you're an NVSE user. Any good ideas before I start uninstalling would be warmly appreciated
  24. Heck, I didn't even download Dead Money -Still haven't finished main quest- but steam patched my game and now I can play for some 2 mins, then CTD :wallbash: And odd thing though is, that I accidentally left a game I had just loaded. 7 mins later it was still running with the idle animations  But after walking some 500ms.....CTD Hope we'll soon get an update to NVSE. I would not like to play without
  25. You don't say what mods you have installed. I had the same problem. And I had a texture improver (Sorry, can't remember which  ) installed. As soon as I unchecked the .esp I could drag out Morales and finish the quest.
