  1. Thanks fellas. Couldn't get the idle markers to work, but I threw in another furniture animation and figured out what the SmokerFaction does, so I'm pretty much set for now. @EPDGaffney I'll keep that JIP function in mind, especially as I've started to get a handle on scripting. If you don't mind me asking, how often do you use NVSE and JIP functions? Wondering if it's worth checking out now or waiting until I'm pretty well settled with the vanilla functions.
  2. Hiya folks, Hoping some of y'all more knowledgeable than myself might be able to help me resolve an issue I've been having recently. I just started modding this week, and created my first NPC last night. He's currently running a sandbox package, and while he interacts with furniture perfectly well, he completely ignores the idle markers I've set down near him. There's three idle markers within the radius of his sandbox, navmesh accessible and all that, but the damn things won't start. Not really sure what to do here, the wiki seems to imply that if you plop the idle markers down they should work just fine, but I got nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
  3. Woooo! Time to go reavaluate my mod list and start a new game of New Vegas. Wait, I only have four days to reach NVBIII?! Well at least there'll be some bug testing... But seriously, nice to see ya back here.
  4. I found his body on a street, so I cut his finger and brough it to closest police department. hoping for bounty reward. I'm in jail now. Tell me, did he have a bullet wound in the back of his head, likely made by a Subsonic .22? Because if so, I think we have a suspect.
  5. Rumors say if you trip over a can anywhere in the world, you can catch a glint of of red hair and Someguy's voice fading in the wind, softly reprimanding you for your clumsiness.
  6. Naah, if it's Odin we've gotta hang him from a tree, and then pierce his side with a spear.
  7. Ia Ia, Cthulhu Ftaghn. That which is dead may eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die. ...that or good old Nyarlothotep, he's pretty cool too.
  8. Hmm, maybe it's True Wasteland Economy? http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/58762/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D58762%26preview%3D&pUp=1
  9. Reading through those old musings, I'm starting to think NVBIII will be way closer to the super-dark Lake of Fire draft than we suspect. Every hint we've been given points to a very traumatic experience for the Courier. I hesitate to post this due to Someguy's absence, but I don't think it reveals anything more than he has already said, so here goes: Having tested an early build, I'd say that Someguy's statements concerning the mod tend to be very accurate. I won't spoil anything, but the Lake of Fire draft it is not. This is not to say it is not scarring, or traumatic, or dark, it very much is all of those. Especially if you bring a treasured companion! But it's not quite the ocean of grimdark that is the Lake of Fire draft. And for anyone who wonders why their Courier would chase Marko into the snowy mountains of Utah, beyond the reasons of adventure, or simple justice? Well, at one point this mod turns very personal, much more than any other quest in the game.
  10. As I recall, The Message, aside from sharing Shane's basic plot of a stranger (the Courier) becoming embroiled in a struggle between ranchers and brahmin (cattle) barons, it also took some inspiration from The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, though in what way was, I believe, never divulged. Just a Courier, if memory serves, dealt with the time skip via starting after the main game ends, and not dealing with the main New Vegas worldspace, though your actions in the main quest would be mentioned in the mod. Check through all of Someguy's threads, he mentioned various mod ideas in most of them, though you'll have to some digging.
  11. I'm just gonna post this here... http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/images/80621/? http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/images/80624/?
  12. It's too early to tell right now. Maybe 2-3 hours? What do you say, testers?Hmm, it took me most of a day for me to get through the alpha. Granted, there were a decent number of reloads included there, as well as some puttering about in the worldspace. Still, all in all I think spent at least 4 hours getting through it. But then I tend to be a slow player, with a lot of stealth, sniping, and exploration involved.
  13. I believe that the Winterized T-5lb from Operation Anchorage is leftover in the New Vegas game files, possibly the other winterized armors as well. Edit: In fact: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43142/?
  14. Good to hear about the dialogue, I thought the Inheritance was rather good on that account and glad to see the trend continuing. As for suggestions, I'm sure I've mentioned this somewhere, but I've always wanted to see perks not traditionally related to dialogue see more use in conversation. While there are a few instances of this in the vanilla game, I feel this could be expanded further. Perhaps Jury-Rigging allows you to bypass a plot point by, well, rigging something up instead, or Hunter allows you to impress a fellow game-stalker with your knowledge, bypassing any skill checks. Anything really for gameplay to further show that your character possesses specialized skills and knowledge.
  15. I'm glad to see that memory failed me. Don't know how I got it into my head he was mayor. At any rate, all is now well. Sorry for raising the alarms. You know, though I'd love to see The Message or Sinners and Slaves see the light of day, I hope SSS is your next project. Mostly because I've always been disappointed in New Vegas' lack of a good random encounter system, and more quests would never go amiss. If you do proceed with it, may I suggest giving Honest Hearts a little love? I find it a bit lacking, and something along SSS's lines would, I think, alleviate some of that. On the other hand, Hardboiled/Film Noir in Fallout. *shudder*
  16. Looking good Someguy. It'll be nice adventuring in the mountains. I always wished Mt Charleston got more love in the vanilla game. I must say, I'm rather intrigued by the implications of being able to interact with the denizens of Frost Hill, seeing as Marko is mayor, if memory serves correct. I'm also curious if we'll see any New Canaanites in the region.
  17. Right now I'm going with vanilla textures, and I'm taking every effort to mimic the landscaping near the peaks of Mt. Charleston. I'm hoping to include custom weather and snow, so if anyone wants to help on that front, please PM me. I believe weijiesen has been posting images up of an upcoming mod of his that winterifies New Vegas. You might look into asking him? In fact, here's a link to the images: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/images/78262/?
  18. Russell will be glad to hear of that, I'm sure. Or at least until Marko guts him with his own knife. Funny, even if I knew there was a 100% chance he wouldn't make it, I'd still bring Russell along. A promise is a promise, especially between friends.
  19. I keep meaning to ask, which version of the script did you finally go with, dark, darker, or the lake of fire?
  20. In regards to the fiends, they are supposed to be an unusually large raider tribe, probably due to the siren call of addiction, as well as a seemingly decentralized leadership. Your mods also provide another line of succession and line of support, so it makes sense, I feel. Besides, the game continues to throw fiends at you anyway even Motor-Runner and the rest are dead. Though I suppose that you could tie into Blood Hammer's bounty and have the fiends in a weaker state if he's dead.
  21. The Legion had hound master or two at the Fort, but I don't think they had a title, though I haven't been there in a while. Also, perhaps a low intelligence Courier might cause Marcellus to grossly underestimate her/him, thus resulting in less diversions or other sneaky tactics.
  22. Glad to see the videos will be gping strong. Definitely excited to defend that little hunk of rock. My first, but hopefuly not last random event suggestion: A lull in the fighting followed by a single Legionary, perhaps a Vexilarius, yelling taunts, insults, and perhaps promises of forced servitude upon surrender, rather than the painful death of resistance. Something in the vein of Lord Humongous' speech in Road Warrior. Player actions during this might include a scathing response using Terrifying Presence, sniping the Legionary (or perhaps walking a green recruit through it, maybe using guns skill/sniper perk), or calming a panicing trooper.
  23. You know, something I thought should have been in the vanilla game was more dialogue choices based on perks. I don't mean stuff like Black Widow or Terrifying Presence, which are designed primarily on opening up new dialog options. Rather, I think some perks should have a select few dialog options (or perhaps even unique actions) in certain situations, for example an Explorer could provide information on distant places to a fledgling Caravan, or a Computer Whiz might have an option to avert a triggered self-destruct function. Perhaps in the case of Zulu the Grunt perk could be useful in ingratiating oneself with the garrison? I feel these could add more depth to one's personality, background, and overall character.
  24. I think having a cap of two followers would be ideal, as I figure players may want to move a few at a time without having to run back for the rest. And definitely incorporate a follow option in the pop up menu. I have to say, you seem to be breezing through this. I realize that you've worked on Zulu for a while now, and you've had two and a half mods of practice since Bounties II, but still, appears to be a pretty brisk pace. And enjoying it too, from the looks of it.
  25. I don't know if it's feasible, but as your writing grows increasingly inertwined with the core narrative of New Vegas, perhaps you might consider altering the vanilla ending slideshow and inserting some of your own slides. Then again, perhaps Just A Courier who do in lieu.
