  1. @alonsomartinez: About the DB I'd tend to think training children to the art of murdering would be a great deal for them, children tend to believe anything they're told so they could easily be raised in the faith of Sithis and the Nightmother and become extremely reliable members. This method worked pretty well in various totalitarist countries through History and nowadays again, sadly. About the panther, that would be great, and having your pet growning with you would be awesome as well. I thought it could be possible to grow up a foal until it turns into a horse but a panther would be great as well. And other animals all the same. (a mudcrab pet would be fun) @blackrose87: It's not a bad idea and in fact I even wonder if it wouldn't be interesting to copy the cells related to the villages to create several versions, sorts of time planes, with little differences and make the villages evolve as the PC grows. However this would be a lot of work so I guess it would be done only if it's interesting regarding scripting (like you start the game in a time plane and when you grow up the game is over and you start a "new game" in the following time plane) And for having a family and all I'm really for it. I think I yet talked about the possibility of getting a best friend companion and/or a boyfriend/girlfriend in one of the villages. I don't know if it would be possible to "seduce" NPC of the original game but in any way it would be nice to get a home and a family. @L33Nexus: Yes, I think plugins would be the best for Custom Races, this way people can choose which one they want to install. @peaceandlove74: I might take some time to be released. For now I've done a third of the level building of the village of Duskwater, exteriors and interiors. Interiors Screenshots can be seen here It took me less than a couple of days to do but I've got assets to do for school and school is my priority.
  2. I put a question mark after "teacher" for I'm not sure there are schools as we know them in Cyrodiil. I rather think people learn to read and count on their own unless they can afford a teacher. Thus I suppose a teacher's role in this mod would be teaching the rich people's children. For the Custom races I guess it could be possible to make adoption a possible within certain families, or eventually there could be one couple of a Custom race in one of the villages. I just think that the presence should be of one couple of one Custom race in one of the 3 "basic" villages maximum. But being rejected at first can be an interesting parameter. I think it could happen as well if you're from a weird or infamous family. The point about job cover is nice, I had thought about it for NPC but not much for the PC itself. Surely, parents would mostly be quite worried/deceived to see their child becoming a thief or an assassin. Until now I thought some parents could have some ideas about what they want their child to become (farmer, fighter, mage, dealer...) and if you do not wish to fulfill their dreams you can decide to lie to them to not deceive them/protect them. I think it's great to have to have a cover life and identity. On the same idea I thought that it could be possible to have some romance with a character, but if you decide to start flirting with NPC of your sex you shouldn't get seen, and eventually marry someone of the opposite sex to get a cove or please your parents. However this is kinda out of mod and it would probably more suited to eventually create a seperate romance mod. Beside this I thought it would be intersesting to force the PJ to be in character by giving it more or less answer choices. If your character is good, you get the nice/loyal/etc answers, if your character is infamous, you get the naughty/sarcastic/lies/betrayal answers. The only way to get all of the answers is to raise your Personality skill because it requires charisma to act out of character correctly enough to fool people about your true intentions. I think it would make this attribute more interesting. About companions I thought that you could have a best friend but the gang idea is great and would be an awesome base for quests. Little children groups could turn into real gangs as kids grow. This could be a lot of fun. For the extension in Elsweyr I suppose you think about the mod Elsweyr - Deserts of Anequina. I havent tried it yet but it looks worth trying for sure. It would be as interesting as tricky I think. It could be the possibility to become part of the Renrijra Krin and special quests related to Leyawiin could be imagined but once again it turns very specific. I think it's not something to think about now but maybe later, it's a lot of work when a lot of work has yet to be done... Thanks for the suggestions! And Happy New Year everybody! =)
  3. @Unavi: I thought about the training possibility from teenagehood to get trained by some sort of master. I don't know yet what those masters would look like exactly, I only think some could be guards, bandits, mages/sages, thieves, assassins, hunters... Something alike. If you have more detailed ideas maybe it could be helpful =) About the wooden weapons and toys it's on the list, childish "war" games could be a good inspiration pool for some quests. @Stoldark0: 2. I thought it could be possible to have one or several siblings but as thinking about the possibility to stick a script to an NPC according to another script (to define which NPC is supposed to be your brother/sister) I didn't think much about it for now. Still it could be great. Maybe things like having to save your brother who tried to fight the Daedra related to the main quest, or facing the situation of him joining the Imperial Legion while you play thief or assassin... If you have some quest ideas don't hesitate to propose them =) 3. About Custom races I think the best is that I contact the authors to know if they wish to take part in the project. If they do I think the easier would however to create specific villages for one or several custom races. @andy12750: I tried to figure the names basing me on the UESP's villages, farms, and settlements. I wasn't sure about the name "Riddle Pond", to be honest it came to my mind and I couldn't find anything else. The idea to base the name on the wolves is great. I just think the name Wolfsbane is a bit negative for such a pretty place if I can say so. screenshots can be seen here I realized it requires Unique Landscapes to be seen. About the last one I don't know yet, you can guess I based the name "Skyside Home" on Brindle Home and Water's Edge but it's true "Watch" is used a lot. I tend to think "Mountain Watch" is a little simple, I know many names are quite simple but this is very generic, Mountain Watch could be anywhere there's a mountain. For this village I had listed the ideas of earth VS sky, mist, cold and howling wind, for a place that's rather desolated as such cold grounds ain't the more fertile. ------------------- I began the level building of Duskwater, the main buildings have been added, I still have to clean the scene, edit the terrain textures and add some more details, then I'll begin the interiors building. These are links to screenshots compilations: • top view • TESCS views • ingame screenshots I'm also going to look on the TESCS info website for some info about how to add custom meshes and textures, it will be needed at some point and when I tried to figure which deity the monks of the priory could worship, I thought about Ius the Agitated, God of the Animals, even if it sounds more like a joke I thought it would be fun and fitting in a village inhabitated mostly by Khajiiti, Bosmers and some Bretons. Else I'm still trying to figure out jobs, here's a little list of what came out without any order: -hunter -jewler -writer -alchemist -blacksmith -farmer -horse breeder -tailor -merchant -tavern/inn tender -drug dealer -monk/priest -fisher -guard -singer/musician -painter -assassin -thief -knight -teacher? -artisan (pots, furniture, tapistery...) -alcohol producer (alcohol can be made out of anything, apple, pear, rice, potato, plants...) -cook -"you're a genius, master"-telling guy -daily drunk -future predicter (let's make crystal balls useful in the end) -fire spiter! If you think of anything else, even a bit silly, don't hesitate to propose, there are about 30 NPC to create for each village!
  4. Things are getting a bit clearer. I've done some home made stats based on the NPC factions in the TESCS and on obvious logic to put down which social classes can be attended by which races and which races are available in which villages. I also did 3 villages schemes. I'll call the villages Duskwater, Skyside Home and Riddle Pond, these names may eventually change if there are better suggestions. Available locations: • [Duskwater] on the Panther River, County Leyawiin, between the Black Dog camp, the Kindred cave and Wendelbek's Ayleid Ruins • [skyside Home] somewhere in the Jerall Mountain, County Bruma, hard to be more precise for now • [Riddle Pond] somewhere southwest of Chorrol, between the pillaged mine and Wendir's Ayleid ruins • Duskwater Population: Argonian, Khajiit, Imperial, Bosmer, Dunmer. Buildings: Monastery nearby - Imperial Bosmer Argonian Great house x 2 - Imperial House x 2 - Imperial Dunmer Bosmer Agonian Modest house x 4 - Imperial Khajiit Bosmer Dunmer Shack x 5 - Argonian Imperial Dunmer Khajiit Street - Imperial Argonian Camp marauders - Khajiit Argonian Bosmer Cave vampires - Dunmer Imperial • Skyside Home Population: Nord, Breton, Imperial, Orc, Altmer, Reguard. Buildings: Small castle nearby - Imperial (lord) Imperial Nord Redguard Orc Manor - Imperial Breton Great house x 2 - Imperial Breton Nord Altmer House x 3 - Imperial Breton Nord Altmer Orc Redguard Modest house x 3 - Imperial Redguard Farmhouse x 2 - Imperial Orc Priory - Imperial Altmer Breton Orc Redguard Nord Shack x 3 - Redguard Imperial Nord Orc, a crazy Altmer Street - Nord Imperial Redguard Camp thieves - Redguard Imperial Orc Fort bandits - Imperial Nord Redguard Orc • Riddle Pond Population: Breton, Imperial, Redguard, Bosmer, Altmer, Khajiit. Buildings: Small castle nearby - Imperial (lord) - Imperial Khajiit Redguard Great house x 3 - Imperial Breton Altmer House x 3 - Imperial Breton Altmer Bosmer Redguard Modest house x 3 - Imperial Khajiit Redguard Bosmer Farmhouse x 2 - Imperial Bosmer Camp thieves - Khajiit Bosmer Cave vampires - Altmer Imperial Ruins/Cave mages - Breton Altmer I think I can start level building to get a base for each village but I'd like to define the different families living in each building. If you see anything that feels wrong, like you don't think such race could live in such building, don't hesitate to say it. I tried to base this on the actual social classes in the game but a mistake is always possible. However I also tried to let some roles open because time to time there are exceptions... Also I'd like the NPC of the villages to have a life and a job, be it farmer, blacksmith, writer or whatever. But as it takes time to think about this, if you have any ideas it would help a lot =] Don't hesitate to throw anything passing by your mind! Have a merry Xmas and happy new year =]
  5. yeah, that would be awesome! and he could find it fun, who knows... =]
  6. Lol, don't worry, I won't ask it XD I think the only thing I could ask you to voice a teenager would eventually to simulate a puberty voice change for fun (this is so random) (basically I'm French, the only accent I can reproduce is part of the different Belgian accents)
  7. Having actual children for children voice acting would be awesome but I wonder if some can be found (even teenagers would probably be okay), else I assume we'd need adults able to reproduce children voices... Anyway that would be fun for sure. ...I wish I could do some voice acting as well but my pronounciation tends to be terrible even normaly, with the terrific English accent I have I could only dub a drunken mudcrab.
  8. @ranokoa: I thought collision boxes could be a last security after the wolves, in case a player finds a way to pass the wolve anyway, it's always a bit disapointing to run into a collision box. The message uou propose sounds fine. @DagonTheranis: lol, that would be a fun thing for sure! Offering your voice is yet very nice. If this project can come to the point we need voice actors I'll open castings, don't hesitate to enter them when the time comes =]
  9. Oooh, that's a great idea! Kids love to trade lots of things indeed, this could be a fun detail and intereting gameplay element, maybe the start or purpoe of some quests... Now this makes me think adding some wood weapons would be nice as well (and one more way to prevent the player from having the foolish idea to dare try to "escape" the village and face wolves with a wood saber) It could be funny to have children role playing in villages, even when the player is grown up and traveling accross the world. *pictures child with crappy fake Gray Fox hood*
  10. It's true the character maker can allow creating kinda childish faces, so I thought that it would be up to the player to set it to create their child character's face and only the body would have to be created. After I'm thinking about creating specific body meshes for children for they have different proportions than adults and are usually less muscular. It's hard to be clear about how character creation should happen as I don't know exactly how it is programmed and what can be changed or not... However the problem you're talking about with such mods is one of the reasons I thought about this one. I tend to think the beginning of the game isn't credible, when you've got your player supposed to be an adult, a poor level 1 guy that however manages to help Blades to fight assassins... it sounds wrong to me. So one of the purposes of this mod could be to start as a level 1 child, level up and really start the game with a higher level - not level 20 or what, maybe just level 5 or 6, but yet I think it's more credible for an adult. The same places should be used for different starts indeed, I think there will be several villages (I can't tell yet if they'll be close to each other or not) with different families featuring different social classes and less or more different races. You should end up in a village or another according to various parameters but choosing to became a warrior, thief, mage or whatsoever will be up to you anyway, you will just have to find a way to end up being what you want to be beyond adversity like we do irl. Maybe your parents will hope you become a noble warrior, or maybe that you become a peasant like them... deceiving them or not will be your choice. Help on this would be great, yes, it's something I like to work on but considering the amount of quests and dialogues that are to be created... Yep, help would be appreciated. After, I understand you have a life so if you have time to help, it's welcome, if not, it's okay =] Thanks for your interest yet!
  11. Good points. 1. I wasn't sure myself about those mages having sorta "family life", until there I had thought about making it a possiblity as hard to get as being adopted by vampires. Plus I'm worried about the idea of kids actually living in such a dangerous place as an Ayleid ruin (those guys were nuts to make such traps everywhere) 2. I didn't play this mission myself, only somewhat recall when my girlfriend, she's braver than me. Can you describe what you'd wish in further details? 3. That's a great idea. One village could be located somewhat near the Black Marsh border and you end there if you make your character an Argonian born under the shadow.
  12. @Ranokoa: I'm glad to see such enthusiasm. As I plan to lead my own team as a pro in the future I wouldn't refuse sharing your experience. I won't hide I'm exigent and that if I see flaws in a work I'll point them for sure. However I'll also try my best to help fix the problem, I'm for constructive criticism. This forum looks interesting indeed, thanks for the link. I'll consider registering when my Internet connexion gets better tomorrow (and it will, may I need to kill the b4st**d who's downloading abusively) I'm sure there's a mean to do this, even if it may imply creating a specific function for this. Until there I had thought about sort of creating a sequel of game beginnings, a first one to start the play with character creation, and the a new one each time you grow up allowing you to check your chara didn't turn ugly while growing and eventually do some quick plastic surgery. Still I'll remember about your idea, no option should be left away until the right one is found. You seem able to involve yourself a lot in projects, that's a good thing =] I'll update this if I get news.
  13. I can understand, this would imply lots of work... But well, the idea stays there, I started thinking about it a good year ago, if it waited all this time it can wait more XD
  14. @L33Nexus: I answer you in PM to avoid flooding @Slawter500: thanks! I'm gonna try this!
  15. @Slawter500: Kudos for the link, I had been sooo looking for such a mod! I've gotta try it out^^ And yep, I think it's a medium ambitious project, it's far simpler than that childhood project Else I have tried some level building in the TESCS time ago but... is there a snap tool or snap hotkey? I can't believe there's not, it's really time consuming to place the assets correctly without. If I can get aware of such a feature I should be able to compose some interiors =] I don't think I'll create new meshes though, I think there should be enough... The only thing I could add would eventually be statues, I like to model that but it's far to be important for now.
