  1. Yeah that's what I'm thinking to. If we can get save game cleaners and such that can read the saves the 2nd tool makes and loads then that second one will be ideal in pretty much all ways, but until then new games are probably better off reducing initial string count. The second one though is awesome so that people don't have to abandon their current save, at the very least.
  2. You could release a version without the display, but keep the display version as a 'Legacy' file for those who want to still use it and aren't bumping up against the string limit.
  3. I'm not yet convinced that's the best thing to do, even with a warning. In fact right now, I think it might even be counter productive.... Thing is, if word starts going 'round that the mod can ramp up your string count by nearly 1000 (!) I'm concerned that a lot of people might forego using it for no justifiable reason. I have no real basis from which to say this, but I just have a really hard time believing that Simply Knock has any chance of pushing your strcount anywhere near 1000 (I mean, that's huge for a mod this size and that only comes into play when you interact with a door), and suggesting such a thing is very premature, I think. (I might even say "alarmist") Yeah your probably right. I'll keep track of the data, and once we have a better grasp on it all it might be time to start tracking "potential for increase" but certainly not right now.
  4. If you test more mods like this I can add in a "maximum potential string count" column in my spreadsheet, with the explanation that a player is highly unlikely to ever actually hit that maximum but its just one more thing to be aware of.
  5. I've just been compiling the data I find, but I agree that it's highly unlikely any mod can actively reduce string count. With that in mind I could go through and replace all of the "negative" numbers people have presented with placeholder zeroes. I'm not familiar with excel, so if someone wants to use the data I collected in drive into a different spreadsheet which narrows down the outlier data I'll happily link to it and/or incorporate that info into my file somehow.
  6. I've updated the Spreadsheet I made. Its no longer at its original location, but instead at the first like I provided which includes links to all the forum threads discussing this issue as well as other speadsheets. I have set it up so that by using the Outline feature in google docs people can easily located various categories and compare and contrast the string counts of mods of similar types. The previous spreadsheet has been locked and anyone who wants to add in new data should do so on the Google Doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HY4b4L3tJuYPxJazEc8XeF-q3WXI11u76hlKKleQel8/edit?usp=sharing
  7. I honestly think I'm gonna combine them into a single sheet. Trying to figure out in what way exactly, and probably won't happen until this weekend, since I only have access to my desktop on Wednesday, and prefer to work on my own load order when I can. Also thanks for adding in info, every bit helps.
  8. Time isn't so much the issue I think, more content completed. So doing a cheat build wouldn't be bad, after all you'll be completing the same amount of content, just at a faster pace.
  9. If you do that and present the info you find in a very organized manner you will be helping a lot of people.
  10. That is good news, I know that on the loverslab side of things a user made a patch which reduces its impact from 6k+ to 1000.
  11. Unfortunately it appears to do that yes. We still don't know what is a 'safe' cushion space. So I hate to say this but you might play for 50 hours and find that you are back over 65k. The best advice I can give is that you should be checking your string count pretty much every hour of gameplay. We think that string count "equalizes" at some point, which means its going to increase for awhile then stabilize pretty much for the rest of the game. The only problem is what if its 'stable' point is over 65k? My best advice would be to start a new game, go straight to Whiterun, buy a horse, then ride once around the map. See how high your string count has climbed after this, and decide if you feel like you've got enough cushion room or if you are going to have to find other places to cut down. Its a really frustrating thing, but at least we now know it is a thing, and with any luck the great minds behind skse and other things will find a solution, but we definitely shouldn't hold our breath since there's no guarantee a solution is going to be forthcoming.
  12. Hey Garfink, you can check out the link I posted just above your post. It might help you identify some of the heaviest hitters and help you decide what you can or cannot live without.
  13. Hey all, I made that spreadsheet I was promising. It can be edited by anyone. Just saw that you started one as well kamikaze, if you prefer I can copy paste my info over to your and delete mine. For now though here's the link; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iIpwNT75ZQ5eejRgrSLt5kySrAKtTW1n7Q7IgtNy3NE/edit?usp=sharing
  14. One of the problems with completely open to modification speadsheets is that people can 'deface' them. But I'd be willing to compile the currently available info into a single speadsheet and copy it once a day so if something like that happens we still have a backup of the correct info. I'll get that set up now and then post a link in the various forum threads. I'll put at the top that the numbers being posted are provisional and estimates, and that as more info becomes available they will be updated. I'll also put it a request that nobody 'delete' information but merely add in their numbers alongside other numbers that people have gotten.
  15. Hey I compiled a list of links with info on this issue. The first list are spreadsheets on specific mods and their impact which will probably help you out. The second list just links to the three forum threads that I am aware of currently discussing this issue. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HY4b4L3tJuYPxJazEc8XeF-q3WXI11u76hlKKleQel8/edit?usp=sharing
