  1. Recently I lost the face paint / grime options in show looks menu. That's basically the long and short of it. I know fixing workshop categories has been a thing in the past, but that's a pretty well know conundrum, there's little info on this. Anybody got a secret well of knowledge?
  2. Colter gets off his ass and stops dumping money into the gauntlet, probably because he just got the gist that all his underbosses want to murder him with a capital M. He starts sending out guys to raid your settlements. Sometimes he converts them. It's essentially Attila knocking on your door, and here's hoping you've got the firepower and manpower to stop him buddy.
  3. While it goes (completely) against what you just said, there is a thought that just went through my head (when it comes to animating a belt fed machine gun), and keep in mind I'm not an animator, BUT, some experience in the military and some interest in a hobby does bring to mind that non-disintegrating belts, like that on a PK, are much more rigid by design and therefore, you could get away with the animation being a bit more stiff, at least as far as the belt is concerned. Because the belt *is* more stiff. This could also be applied to any machine gun that is designed in the future as an original design as well, like the WH77 just as an example even though it doesn't show belts. That could be pitched to anyone who contracts you for your work.
  4. I do feel as though it's a bit of a missed opportunity in the series that it isn't recognized further. But Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas definitely had their moments. I think one thing to take from this is that anyone who's taking humanities classes or history classes will recognize that religion has existed in one way or another throughout human society. We tend to be fairly spiritual beings, even those of us who proclaim themselves as atheists can become spiritual in times of great crisis, and especially the agnostics among us. It should be noted as well that religion, mostly in the West, was not always a 100% of the population thing. There were always those who shied away from it. We can draw back on the closest thing to the apocalypse happening in our history to the fall of Rome for instance. Not so much in the whole 'everyone was annihilated' part, which is unprecedented except for very early man, but for the vacuum that exists after the fall of civilization. Nobody could replace the role that Rome played in the West, just like how in the event of WWIII, nobody will be able to replace the role that, well, the civilized world plays. The times after Rome fell were called the Dark Ages, and we plunged into them for almost 1000 years. It will take at least that long for us to bounce back from an apocalypse of this format. Religion thrived in these days. Christianity was gaining power, but not exclusively. The pagan gods of the Saxons, the Norse, the Slavs, they may have peaked and valleyed, but they didn't really go away until, well, Christianity drove them out. That being said, let's get back on topic. There is religion in Fallout, it's just few and far between for some reason. Mormonism exists. Joshua Graham and his flock. Daniel as well. An offshoot of Catholicism exists in the Abbey of the Road which Marsela in Point Lookout was a representative from. That's a monastery just west of the Commonwealth. Saint Monica's Church in Rivet City was also a Catholicism offshoot. Other than that, there are the tribal guys (more of which should honestly exist) who presumably have their own religions and cults. The Followers of the Apocalypse, many assumed they were types of Mormons. The Oasis tribals, they worshipped Harold. Some of Ashur's men were pious towards him. Caesar's Legion use the old Roman mythology to some extent because Caesar in the likeness of those before him, claims a tree from divinity. So it does exist, but based on what we know from human history, it doesn't exist enough. Especially in Bethesda's games. Our survival instinct has to be pretty damn high on the chart for us to forego religion, and I mean high, as in, we're down to the last couple of thousands high. Even then it may persist. It should be fluid. The fact that it's mostly gone in Fallout 4, well that might be Bethesda just erring on the side of caution like how they (unrelated to religion) made every follower bisexual, it could also just be their laziness. In all honesty, as much as I love them, I kind of question Bethesda's ability anymore to actually make an interesting lore and story. Is it an oversight or a feature? It's both. If I had to guess, I'd say Bethesda just didn't care about it fearing people could get upset about it, which is a shame. It's things like this, an almost complete absence of religion aside from a group of nuts cultists and one DC preacher who just preaches spirituality, that make the world of Fallout 4 just feel a tad bit emptier.
  5. You know Antistar, you could make an A1/A2/A3 upper by just porting everything over to be on a gooseneck adapter! :P Just do like 10x more work! Sarcasm aside though, I await a release with baited breath. I think you'll find your mod being quite 'modern' if you will years into Fallout 4's modding cycle.
  6. Might be a bit of an issue then. I'd imagine that to replace the pipe weapons, if you plan on doing that, whatever replaced it would have to be just as modular. Similar to the logic on the 10mm.
  7. I apologize, I guess I didn't catch that. But yeah, you're right. Unfortunately the defense gun came out before custom animations were possible. Personally the thing I find the strangest is that the magazine isn't in line with the barrel on the pipe gun, and consequently, the defense gun. That Sten is absolutely amazing though. Will it be moddable enough to cover the range of weapons that the pipe guns do already? That is, a handgun (for some reason), a submachine gun and a type of single shot rifle? A final question, I notice a pistol grip on that sten. Does that mean that it'll have pistol animations? Custom animations? I only ask because Fallout is weird about its animations (as you undoubtedly know) and there are some weapons that end up becoming pistols even though they'd be unwieldy. The Grease Gun that came out recently comes to mind. Excellent 1st person animations. 3rd person couldn't work for some reason.
  8. In reference to the pipe guns, have you considered trying to get a hold of Yanutaku for his Defense Gun model? The Defense gun he made is actually a fairly adaptable yet properly built type of improvised weapon. It draws many similarities to weapons like the Sten Gun, Błyskawica, PPD, and the PPSh. The PPD doesn't really work for this argument much since its metal parts are milled and difficult to produce, but all the others are stamped metal and, while still requiring a craftsman, relatively easy to produce, and most importantly, reliably durable. Anyone vying for power is going to have tertiary personnel working for them. They'll want weapons that are simple and effective. These fill that role. Not to mention their models also work for types of single shot rifles if the magazine is removed and the barrel is replaced or bored out. I think we also need to overcome that hurdle that there's no craftsmen in Fallout because there are. You the player character are one. It's kind of hinted that Arturo creates those weapons he sells. 200 years afterwards, we have to have some sort of manufacturing capability. Anyways, enough pontificating, just as a suggestion, it might be worth looking into that because an effective replacer on that front means that we can still have the pipe weapons without the aesthetic of "This weapon is as dangerous to you as it is to the enemy". Simple, manufactured weapons that have decent enough lifespans.
  9. In response to post #37048760. Well with that attitude.
  10. When the geck comes out replacements won't be necessary, we can just add new weapons into the lists, but me personally, I'd reskin the hell out of the Combat Rifle to look like a BAR.
  11. Well you may not camp in the glowing sea, that's still not a good idea, but the point was that there isn't ALWAYS a house to camp out in, or maybe there is but it's a shack or a ruined shell. Still cold, right? Build a fire. Go to sleep. Have it go out in the middle of the night and wake up freezing cold or something because you didn't get up every now and again and feed it wood. And that's exactly what I was thinking, it doesn't have to be a straight port or anything, it'll probably have to be created from the ground up anyway. Glowing Sea storms spitting out radioactive snow or something, that sounds fitting. It could be neat, it's all I'm saying. Besides, what says survival like "The environment is slowly killing you", right? And I wasn't suggesting naming it Frostfall. The name doesn't really matter to me.
  12. OK, yes, there is a winter overhaul, but it's dirty. Your footprints cause dirt to fly up, the snow is skin deep, there's really no effect to it, no buildings are covered. Surely a man like yourself recognizes there's a difference between "everything is now white" and "This is Winter" and if you don't, I guess you're simply not an artist then. Saying there's no need for it because it's easy to find shelter is not only a sweeping and dismissive comment, but it's misguided. Maybe in Boston it's easy to find shelter, what about outside in the wilderness? Glowing Sea? West end of the map, northeast end, etc. It can have a Fallout flavor to it, it doesn't need to be a direct port. Events could happen in Frostfall where you were trapped on top of a mountain because it wasn't possible to make it down without freezing in a blizzard. Surely, this isn't a moot point, it's an upending to how the game is played, ala any hardcore mod.
  13. My name is SaturnVII and I've been around for quite some time. With that aside, I'll place this in the discussion subforum as opposed to the requests, to see if there is a kind of want for this sort of overhaul. To avoid a text wall, I'll attempt to keep it short. In Skyrim, we had a number of mods that converted the map into a cold, dark, freezing hell. Frostfall, the Climates of Tamriel winter overhaul, and with that we also received some unique survival elements. I intend to see if there is a want on the forums and in the community for this sort of modification to see if some talented individual would find it worth their time to pursue the project. End result, something similar to a game like The Long Dark perhaps. In short: Survival Aspects (Hypothermia, wetness factors, camping, fire building, clothing warmth) Authentic Winter (Snowed over Commonwealth, weather changes, snow depth, frozen rivers and lakes) Winter Clothing (Thicker clothes, more ushankas, long coats, snow shoes, scarves, gloves, etc) Other hardcore aspects such as eating, drinking, sleeping should perhaps be covered by a separate addon for modularity. Ostensibly, feel free to discuss, debate, suggest, all the works.
  14. Weapon racks. I'm a fan of settlement armories in the larger ones, and I like how the people go and get weapons in a large scale attack. Just a little bit of niftiness. Huge request, but something along the lines of a winter overhaul of the map along with the weather and something similar to Chesko's Frostfall. Winter survival is awesome as far as I'm concerned, and as we may be aware, Boston has been known to get some absolutely nuts winters. Radiation snowstorms, some frozen rivers, camping, making fires, blizzards, nothing like a little blood on the ice as well.
