  1. I have also found another fix that changes 1 value in the SkyrimPrefs.ini. If you add, or change, this line under [Display] 'bDeferredShadows=1' to have a value of 0 then that will also fix the shadow problem. Fix to this can be found here - - should be the top comment. Saves having to use an ENB file at least.
  2. I followed the link provided and tweaked my .ini files via that walkthrough, yet the problem was still there. After searching around, I believe I have found a fix, though. Watching this YouTube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVQL3XJDvAc, and downloading the nVidia fix, the problem is no longer apparent. The file consists of the d3d9.dll for the anti-freeze variant. Still makes me wonder what the issue was however. As for my system, I'm playing Skyrim via Boot Camp on a 2009 MacBook Pro but the game was/ is-now running fine. I can even manage to get the settings on high presets with a few adjustments. I don't know why I can play it on those settings with very little lag, but it's always been like that. I can play Fallout: New Vegas with Project Nevada and Nevada Skies installed, all settings etc at ultra. I'm starting to think that's it's just my systems' way of saying it's getting old. Either way, from now on I'll play Skyrim with medium presets, and a few tweaks to the graphics via the .ini file(s).
  3. Thanks Georgiegril for the link. I should have mentioned that I've been playing Skyrim just fine for about a year, then suddenly a day after I install 'Convenient Horses' this problem happens. I'm not saying it's this mod, but I am at a loss as to why the game has been fine for so long, then just randomly started with that shadow problem. Never had, or seen, that issue before while playing on this computer.
  4. I don't have that mod, no. I have no mods installed other than the unofficial patches. .ini files; Skyrim.ini [Display] fShadowLODMaxStartFade=1000.0fSpecularLODMaxStartFade=2000.0fLightLODMaxStartFade=3500.0iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048bAllowScreenshot=1 SkyrimPrefs.ini[Display]iBlurDeferredShadowMask=1fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000fShadowDistance=2500iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048iShadowSplitCount=2iMaxAnisotropy=1fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=4600.0000fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=3600.0000fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=3600fGamma=1.0000fDecalLOD2=1500.0000fDecalLOD1=1000.0000fSpecularLODStartFade=500fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000fLightLODStartFade=1000iTexMipMapMinimum=0iTexMipMapSkip=0iWaterMultiSamples=0iMultiSample=4iShadowMode=3bTreesReceiveShadows=0bDrawLandShadows=0bFull Screen=1iSize H=900iSize W=1440fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000fMeshLODFadeBoundDefault=256.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=2048.0000fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=2844.0000fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=3072fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=4096iScreenShotIndex=2bShadowMaskZPrepass=0bMainZPrepass=0iMaxSkinDecalsPerFrame=3iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10bFloatPointRenderTarget=0sD3DDevice="NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT "bFXAAEnabled=1iShadowMapResolution=1024fShadowBiasScale=0.3iShadowMaskQuarter=3iAdapter=0iPresentInterval=1
  5. Anyone know how to fix this?
  6. Thank you for the links and info Mazuffxi. I have tried this mod, and the problem is still there. The problem is constant as well, I never alt-tab out.
  7. Hello everyone, Sorry if this has already been answered, but I have searched everywhere to find a fix to the shadow problem I am having, and I haven't found anything. I have recorded a video and uploaded it to YouTube; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAmFfYW3seg, so that everyone can see the problem rather than have me describe it. Here is what is in the YouTube description; "A problem I am having with my Skyrim game. Problem happens regardless if it's a new game started, or if I am continuing an older game (ignore the 'save file corrupt' message at the beginning, shadow problem still happens on a new save).Problem still persists even after a fresh install. By fresh I mean I have deleted every possible file and/ or registry key attached to Skyrim. The game has no mods installed via Nexus Mod Manager or WyreBash (nor any mod files in the folders). I do have the unofficial Dawnguard, Dragonborn, Hearthfire, HD Pack mods installed through Steam Workshop. Having these unofficial mods turned off, as well as the official HD pack turned off makes no difference, either. System Specs;4GB RAMWindows 7 Ultimate 64-bitnVidia GeForce 9600M GTIntel Core2 Duo CPU T9600 2.80GHz If anyone has run into this problem before, or knows how to fix it, please, please, please share your wealth of knowledge, and thank you in advance!" Thank you to anyone that can help.
  8. Yeah I'm using the HD 2k texs, they look a lot better in my opinion, too. I do have a problem with these textures however, and that is the wooden posts seem to 'stack' rather than be a fluid texture, is this meant to happen? What I mean by stack is you would expect the wooden post to have it's grain going vertical, but instead, there are segments, and quite a few, that align horizontally, making it look like small pieces of wood have been stacked on top of one another.
  9. Thank you for that. So if I deactivate Bethesda's HD packs, then I take it I can deactivate the Unofficial High Resolution Patch? Trying to save RAM! :P
  10. That is great, thank you! I have another question about the HD packs that are out. If I have Bethesda's HD packs and HD 2K textures, do I need to have Bethesda's activated, or can I just have HD 2K installed?
  11. Hello everyone, This is my first post, so I apologize if it is in the wrong forum section, but I thought this would be the best place to ask. I've recently just installed Skyrim again and a bunch of mods that I really like. I don't have a top of the range spec PC, but I can run the game on Ultra with a few dials in Advanced toned down a little. Anyway, I was hoping if I write a list of what mods I have installed/ downloaded if anyone could tell me the best order to place them in via Nexus and/ or Skyrim launcher for best performance (my performance isn't very laggy, if at all, but I'd like to eliminate as much as I can). As well as any suggestions of mods that I could use instead, or in conjunction with what I already have (performance mods?). I do use the latest version of Skse_loader, and I have installed rcrnCustomizer.exe as I prefer the lighting and weather conditions to that of 'Climates of Tamriel'. With RcrnCustomizer I have set Skse_loader as the .exe to load when starting Skyrim, too. Anything that needed adding or adjusting in Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPref.ini has already been done, as well.
