  1. I'm pretty sure it was Vortex. I think I got it to work for New Vegas.
  2. I played a heavily modded New Vegas on my old PC. The PC died but I have the hard drives which are intact and can be opned as an external drive with an adapter. I would like to play my old saves and modded game on the new PC. Can anypne advise me on how to do this? Downloading the mods from scratch is daunting. Can I run the game on the old hard drive without a new install? Can I copy/paste the old data into a new install? I appreciate the help.

  5. Hi all. I'm running Windows 10 on a system with a C drive primary with OS and several games including Skyrim installed. I have a second drive D with overrun data and some games/programs including Vortex and Oblivion (recently installed). I believe Vortex mounts mods to C. I play a heavily modded Skyrim and can easily DL, install and enable mods using Vortex. After installing Oblivion, Vortex recognised it and in Vortex seems to install and enable mods but they don't appear active in game. Vortex notes the error and asks me to go to settings and set mod staging folder to drive with Oblivion installed. a) how do I do this b) will it mess up Skyrim and other games on C drive? Can I stage mods onto 2 different drives? Thanks!
  6. I'm running a heavily modded Skyrim game and was running the SKSE from Steam. I was getting crashes so thought I should try updating SKSE. I DL'd SKSE again from Steam, now the game starts but gets hung up in loading. To complicate matters, I have 2 steam folders on my main C drive where Skyrim is and on my secondary D drive now both with SKSE files. I tried deleting the files on D with no improvement. Any ideas? What files are asscoiated with SKSE when I DL SKSE. I'd like to remove them all and start from scratch but am obviously nervous. EDIT: I stupidly only tried loading 1 save. An older save ran fine. Moderators can close this thread if desired. If CTD's continue, I'll post separately.
  7. Plenty of saves but didn't back up the mods No reply from the mod creator. I'll look back in the posts Thanks
  8. I recently installed Vortex and imported all my mods in from 2 installs of NMM (don't ask!) and in a fit of excitement, updated a bunch of older mods. In my enthusiasm, I stupidly forgot to empty out my main player home, Amethyst Hollows. Predictably, my extensive collection of ingredients, soulgems, fortify smithing/enchanting potions, my fortify alchemy items etc, all vanished. i don't even see the quest to "investigate Amethyst Falls" in my quest list. It's not a crisis but does anyone know where I could find an old version of the mod or at least the esp file? I'm hoping reverting to an older version will save my stuff assuming I don't overwrite a save. Thanks!
  9. Thanks very much! Any idea if that will overwrite the Steam version?
  10. Hi all! I recently installed Vortex, successfully migrated my myriad of mods from NMM and am taking the time to update outdated mods. On trying to install the newer version of SkyUI I get a warning I'm running an old version of SKSE. I reinstalled from Steam but keep getting the error. Is there an older version preceding Steam I need to delete? Do I need to manually install? Can Vortex help? I appreciate any help
  11. I'm playing a fairly modded game of skyrim and after a hiatus, wanted to add some more mods. I discovered I had an outdated NMM so updated it. On starting, it wanted to reinstall mods, which I accepted. I also installed the steam version of Skyrim Script Extender which put the files into my Steam>steam apps>common>skyrim folder (created 7/16/14). Old mods worked fine, but faces improvers seemed not to be working, new mods added (Quick start) didn't work and specifically Enhanced Character Edit, requiring SKSE didn't work. I discovered NMM was installing mods into a backup folder I had (created 8/16/14 in case I screwed something up installing mods). The data file in my steam>>>skyrim folder just had a scripts folder while the backup folder has all the esp's, meshes, textures etc. as well as another copy of SKSE. I have no idea how the game is even running- the shortcut I usually run the game from leads to the steam>>>skyrim and the game plays with follower mods, new home mods and quest mods working but not body mods, face mods etc. My saves are separate, I believe, in a documents>my games folder. Where does NMM usually put mod data? I have a separate NMM folder in D>games>NMM with a skyrim mods folder with the original rar and 7zip files. I'm tempted to take the full skyrim folder from the backup folder and merge it into the steam>>>skyrim folder and then delete the back up. Alternatively, I could delete the backup folder, and run NMM to reinstall all mods to the proper folder (if I knew how to direct it's installation destination) Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance! I'm not sure whether this post belongs here or in the NMM beta test forum. Moderators- please don't be upset by the double post and feel free to merge this and my other post.
  12. Hi all My Operating system died and I had to do a reinstall of my whole PC. I have countless hours invested in my heavily modded Skyrim game (as does my son) and need assistance in reinstalling. I originally installed it before I had a Steam account. I reinstalled the game this time under Program Files x86>Steam Library>steamapps>Skyrim. I have a different of my old Skyrim install on a backup disk, one is similarly installed under steamapps and the other is an older copy of the folder with seperate folders of Skyrim and Skyrim mods. The back up udner steam apps has a data file with just the mod bsa's without any other info. The older backup folder data folder includes sounds, meshes etc. I resinstalled nexus mod manager and have a copy of the old folder it was installed in. Please help, I'd love to restore the game to the condition it was before my crash. Let me know what further info you might need.
  13. Update: No improvement with redoing mod order (I thought it might have gotten screwed up so put the desired face mod ahead of the follower mod). I reinstalled the mod with desired face and the problem seems solved. Now I have duplicate mods in my list...
  14. Update: For some reason, Ceri reverted to her baseline appearance after playing for weeks with her borrowed face. I haven't changed anything else in the game I'm aware of. I checked and she still has the traits of the other mod's follower (Jessica) but in game and in preview, she has the original mod face. Any ideas?
