I purchased the MSI Radeon HD 7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC a few years ago. It has recently acted up on me, I get random black screens in League of Legends, Skyrim and StarCraft II when everything else on my system is still running; I still get game audio. I ran GPU-Z for temperature logs to when it happens and it ranges from 52 to 67 degree celsius when it happens (ambient temp is 27). I played a game of League of Legends just fine using the Intel HD3000 GPU and also on an old GTX 460.The 7950 gave me vertical stripes within 2 minutes of a game launching and it was on medium settings with a 7950! I'm merely looking for an equivalent replacement or so because I haven't purchased a more demanding game (bought it to improve my Skyrim experience) since the time I bought the GPU. Don't anticipate buying a monster graphic beast until Elder Scroll 6, Currently running 1080p, may upgrade to 1440p but I asked around and it seems the 7950 would have been able to handle it. The rest of my system is Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K Motherboard: ASUS Maximus IV Gene-Z RAM: 2 x 4GB G.SKILL Sniper Low Voltage PSU: Seasonic X750

Already in the process of upgrading with the goal to max vanilla Skyrim at 1080p and I think I should be good to go. From Q6600 @ 2.5 Ghz 4 GB DDR2 RAM 1 GB 5770 to i5-2500K OC'ed to 4.5 Ghz 8 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600 Mhz 1 GB 460GTX Hawk in SLI OC'ed to 560TI levels -
I'm not a working man but I am working on my pharmacy doctorate so I do count as a person where I do have a time crunch. And I do love my games that offer a great value. Value to me is how many hours I can devote to playing the single player game and the multiplayer aspect if it offers any. For example, I am one of those people who spent the past decade playing StarCraft because it was just that good. Plus value is good to me because as a professional school student, money is hard to come by. Really love my older games though, especially RPGs. They offered long stories that were good.

Skyrim comes out 11/11/11. However, my winter break doesn't start until the following Friday. So I will avoid spoilers until that time when I will 6 weeks of winter break to play.

Depends on what you grew up with. For example, growing up, I played almost exclusively and Strategy RPGs and JRPGs so I never developed a taste for the D&D universe. So when I finally tried my first D&D based RPG, absolutely hated it. I have not played Witcher 2, but just comparing Oblivion versus Witcher, Oblivion is so much better in my opinion.

All in all, it depends on the improvements and stability made in the new game engine. On my desktop with a stock q8300 and 1 GB 5770, the fallout 3 at maximum settings performed smoother than oblivion at max settings. However, I both games didn't reach their potential based on my lower clock speeds. I'm hopefully that Skyrim will utilize all 4 cores, however I am planning a upgrade to a Sandy Bridge in the near future that has much better clock speeds anyway.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 Ghz 4 GB DDR2 RAM Radeon 5770 I got bottlenecked by CPU on Oblivion at maximum settings because my clock speed is relatively slow and it didn't use all the cores. Hopefully, if Skyrim has full quad support, I should be better off. At the same time, I am plotting to plunk $2,000 on a new gaming desktop anyway. Never really had a rig that could eat just about every game out there for lunch. Just seeing if my older rig will be fine. -
My computer won't be able to handle this.

I have the Sapphire 5770 1GB card. As far as gaming, it handled Dragon Age, Fallout 3, StarCraft 2, MW2 on maximum settings at 1920x1080. The Vapor-X is supposed to run a little cooler and quieter than my card. -

You just have to wait and pounce on a deal. For $550, I got 4 GB of RAM, quad core 2.5 Ghz, and an ATI 5770. I can run Fallout 3 on 1920x1080 at ultra high settings. Same with Oblivion but that are framerate issues in the cities. -
All I really in terms of graphics is scalability. If I have a mid-range budget PC, I can still run it. If I have a monster of a rig, I can maximize everything and have stunning visual results. My two favorite games are Final Fantasy Tactics and StarCraft. Personally, I still find myself loving the original sprite look of Final Fantasy RPGs over today's modern looks. StarCraft still has a great visual aesthetic to me that still makes it look better than StarCraft 2. The story is just better too.

It should be able to run at least 3 cores. The X-box 360 has a triple core processor and is less robust than the PS3 in terms of pure processing power. Oblivion was on the X-box 360 as well and didn't seem to benefit that much from single core to dual core. However, with this new generation, I'm sure Bethesda will try to harness the maximum potential for the consoles.

http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cbs-News-Spiele-PC-PS3-Xbox-360-The-Elder-Scrolls-Skyrim-Todd-Howard-Interview-5932069.html In the fist question Todd mentions that hitting an opponent will be easier because of a new "Target-Magnetism" that is active. Basically melee attacks will snap to the opponent that's closest to your crosshair. A feature that's very welcome for console players. Second question mentions what we already know - the higher the skill the more it contributes to your leveling. This question: "It's theoretically possible to reach 100 in all skills. However, a players true potential will be only unlocked through the use of Perks. A character will be much better if you choose perks within fewer skills and within the same perk branches." Fourth question is about level-scaling: first part of the answer is what we already know - dungeons will lock to your level once you visit them. Second part is new info: it turns out that different opponent types will be assigned to different difficulty ranges. Some monsters's range will be very wide and thus you will see many subtypes of them. Other opponents, such as bandits, will have only a very narrow difficulty span, beyond which they can neither be weaker nor stronger (i.e. for instance, if the span is 8-18 then they'll be level 8 for a starting character, but they will never scale higher than 18 once your character is lvl 20 and beyond) Longer trans. CBS: Are the fights in skyrim different to them in Oblivion? TH: In oblivion it was sometimes difficult to hit the enemy, in skyrim it's easier for the player: A slight Target-Magnetism helps you striking the enemy. There are a lot of Finishing-Moves as well which, for sure, will be loved by the players. CBS: How does the ranking work? TH: That depends on the use of the different skills. If you mainly use the bow, the archary skill will be more important for the level up. Is your skill raising to 31 from 30 it will have more influence to the level-up than if you have a skill raised from 5 to 6. CBS: Is it possible for the player to get all the skills up to maximum to become a mighty allrounder? TH: theoretical it's possible to gett all the skills to max (100). However the player will get a lot of might by choosing the perks. When he gets a level-up he has to choose a perk. In that way he can improve his favourite skills. A character will always be better if he chooses all the perks in a smaller amount of skills, s the he skills deep into the tree. CBS: Will the monsters also get stronger after the player went better? TH: The Strength of the monsters is similar to FO3: If a player enters a dungeon this will fit the players level. Nevertheless will there be more and less difficult dungeons. Unlike in Oblivion each section will stay at its dificulty when the player leaves it and comes back later. In Skyrim the different types of monsters have a difficulty range. Some standard enemys will appear very often so that they have a lot of different levels. However there will be bandits with a limited range of strength, they cannot get more or less strong than the limitation allows.

Does really matter to me as long as I get my spears back and better playability with bows. Spears have always been my favorite weapon in RPGs with bows coming in at a close second.
