The fastest way that u can check if ur nifskope is ok, try opening a game or mod armor that is working and compare the structure with yours, hope this can help you. o/

Well with out the creation kit, u can use skyedit, pick the alteration potion or the armor, create a copy put an unique id name, modify the values, etc..... is kinda "boring". http://pastebin.com/tRcCS538 <--- a guide using armors to show how to do.
