  1. Does anyone else not like the current design of the Daedric Armor? Thanks to a certain mine that shall not be named, Azura's Star Quest, and a couple lucky draws with vendors, I had the components I needed to craft Daedric Armor. So, after spending about an hour and a half last night grinding my Smithing skill to 90 (yes, by making lots and lots of Iron Daggers) I snagged that Daedric Crafting Perk and forged up a new set of armor. After donning the full set, plus Daedric Warhammer, I caught a glance of myself and rolled my eyes. I looked like a hedgehog. I really wish I could rename my character to Shadow Sonic now. To give you an idea of the "art progression" for the Daedric Armor, see below (courtesy of TES Wiki and UESP Wiki). TES III. http://images.uesp.net/7/79/MW_DaedricArmor.jpg TES IV. http://images.uesp.net/7/7a/OB-item-Daedric_Armor.jpg TES V. http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20111112022244/elderscrolls/images/1/1b/Skyrimdaedricarmor.jpg So does anyone else agree? Disagree? Personally, I'm looking forward to the Creation Kit so I can spur some potential modders towards making a replica of the earlier designs.
  2. So they do. I have eight fingers and two opposable-thumbs. Why the heck is it I can only wear one ring? Sure, sure balance this, balance that. But, at least two? One for each hand? Literally every RPG known to man since Advanced DnD has allowed for one ring per hand. Come on Bethesda, I know you think you're "cool" and "hip" by "breaking the mold" but really, you're just being silly this time.
  3. Firstly I'd like to say, I love these ideas thus far. You've covered about every major gripe I have with the game as well as a handful of things that would be interesting to play with (see environmental effects, lightning damage while in metal armor, etc.). However, I've highlighted two of your statements, both regarding the leveling system. I personally believe the larger issue is not that there are enough skills in the game (and this is an issue I take strong offense too) but rather, the *rate* at which you level. Your first seven levels you "beam up" every five or six skills. Then by level twenty its taking about fifteen skills to level (I really wish someone has looked into the numbers on this, perhaps I will do this later today to prove my point). Anyways, ranting aside, by level 40/50 it's nearly impossible to level. It takes ages, somewhere in the upper teens in terms of skill points and it requires you to go to other skills to grind from level to level. So, instead of increasing the skill caps on everything, which may or may not see you to level... 40, maybe? Adjust the rate at which you level. If it were possible, revert back to the tried and true system of "level every ten skill increases." That way, if you maxed just the Mage skills. You'd be level sixty. Assuming you can lift or adjust the "hard-cap" of level 81, increase the level cap to whatever you deem worthy, with a cap on each of the three "attributes" (yeah right) being whatever else you deem worthy. Alternatively and for a more code intensive change to the "leveling" system, check this puppy out. Assuming you've played and own (or "borrowed") a copy of Morrowind, take the ten minutes, download it and try it out. It may give you some... Inspiration? For your current project. 4. HARUMPH! Burn it to the ground! They exist. Open the favourite menu, and use a numbered key to assign it to the highlighted item. I think the fact that it took people this long to figure out how to use Numerical Hotkeys speaks VOLUMES about the UI in Skyrim. Hell, you guys just taught me how to bind hotkeys to numbers. The UI is truly, truly the number one gripe I have about this game. Everything about it screams "CONTROLLER FRIENDLY" but, alas. As far as the mouse and keyboard goes? Bethesda seems to have totally forgotten the two were even invented. It's clunky, it's disruptive, it's breaking my immersion for the love of all that is good in this world. Begone with it. Begone. I was under the impression that dungeons did respawn. Just after a week or two. I *know* I have had several outdoor locations respawn on me after a handful of days. That coupled with the fact that Skyrim has "infinite quests" leads me to believe that after an appropriate amount of time (I am thinking something like a week to a month of in-game time, as opposed to the 3-5 days we are used to) lairs and dungeons do in fact respawn. However, if you are correct and dungeons do not respawn, surely they need to! Anyway, to continue my list of gripes and wishes. ---First person werewolfing. How this didn't make it into the game is just... Silly. ---First person horse riding. Uhh... Why would you *remove* this from Oblivion. Silly Bethesda. >.< ---Put some clothes on! You're freezing! Now, I know the Nords can strut around in their birthday suits, piss into the wind of an oncoming blizzard, and make it home in time for breakfast but, not all of us are Nords! Think of those poor Argonians and Redguards! If I were going from swamp or desert to the frozen tundras of Skyrim, I would be sure to cover myself up good and well! And don't get me started about the "fur, hide, and leather" armors. Give me a break. ---Remove health regen. That just reeks of Call of Duty. At least something to toggle it on and off. Leave health regen on when SLEEPING. ---Hard-toggle on fast-traveling. Firstly, I want to thank Bethesda for including carriages in the game. Whether they realize it or not, it keeps purists like myself content from not using the fast-travel button. In any case, I want something to turn it off and leave it off, 'cause "back in my day" fast-travel was called 'Mark' and 'Recall.' ---Vampires are no different than those of Oblivion. Need I say more? ---Something needs to be done about the lack of interactivity in woodcutting and mining. They're a bore. ---Fishing. I'm tired of swimming in raging torrents and icy waters to collect my fish! ---Eating, drinking, sleeping realism. Just for my immersion. ---Removing the "healing" component from food and drink, just like it was done in Fallout: NV (something that I applaud them for). Eating ten apple and cabbage stews is not going to save your from that sucking chest wound folks, I'm sorry. Additionally, follow in the footsteps of Fallout: NV (yet again) and make potions a "heal over time" as opposed to an "instant heal." ---Once again I reference Fallout: NV. Give a weight to arrows. I believe at some point the 1200 some-odd iron arrows I've collected will start to weigh me down. Just a bit. ---Bedrolls? I see them everywhere but cannot take them with me. What sort of magic and trickery is this? ---More 'unleveled' loot. Tweaks and adjustments on the leveling system in general. There's just so much here. It seems like *everything* in this game is scaled to your character. Truly, I kid you not. The loot you find is scaled to your character. The items you buy off vendors is scaled to your character. The effectiveness of armor and weapons you equip is scaled to your character. Why does everything have to be scaled for perfect balance? I know there are the * occasional* wrenches thrown into the mix (see frost trolls) but, I already feel like I'm grinding myself up to a higher level so I can use the "good stuff." Or so that I can start finding "this armor set." What divine being controls all of this exactly? Because he or she seems to have pretty damn good timing on when things start appearing in the world. Furthermore, why does loot have to be scaled if it's not going to be as effective as it should until I get to the appropriate level anyways? And finally, if you're level scaling loot everywhere, why in the world are bandits *STILL* wearing hide armor and how the heck does hide armor absorb that much damage? And how are they doing so much damage to me with iron and steel daggers? I want their secrets! However, don't get me wrong. I love this game. I know I will be spending several hundred hours over the next few years in the lands of Skyrim. Here's to the modding community, they're simply the best around. And they're the guys that'll keep me playing Skyrim for years to come.
  5. At first I thought to myself, "How the heck to people not freeze their bums (and arms and legs) off in these suits of armor? This is just silly." Then I thought to myself, "Alright, seriously. What the heck do the bandits put in their mead to strut around in blizzards wearing *that?* Because I want some!" However, in both cases of self-reflection am I in favor of and will be endorsing any sort of mod that redesigns the hide, fur, and leather armors as well as adds sleeves and leggings where appropriate.
  6. To go with the Fear and Loathing theme, you really need to do a parody of the scene where Dr. Gonzo is tripping on acid in the bar and it appears to be filled with giant lizards. Except instead of lizards, use geckos, and have a dead Gr. Gonzo passed out on a pile of Jet or something along the likes of that. Granted, it's an indoor/bar scene but, it could be done.
