  1. Well, despite playing that one night for 4.5 hours with no problems, the mods I downloaded didn't fix my issue at all. I started to play today for the first time since then, and within moments I was having the exact same issues with my UI; unable to click or do anything after opening the PipBoy. So I will have to definitely reread everything you gave me more closely and begin fixing it for real :/ Do you think there could be something about in-game location causing that UI problem? I ask this because, the further north I go, the less it seems to happen. The farther south I am, the more of a problem it is.
  2. What I have not done: Move Steam from the original default location in program files, to where it ought to be. I know this needs to be done, but I'm lazy and I kept telling myself, "If my Skyrim runs basically flawlessly with 250 mods, surely New Vegas can work in this locale also." Mostly I'm lazy! Also I'm very noobish when it comes to all these things, and I get very frsutrated working on it all. Sure I know how to download and use mods- but I have no idea how they're actually working, what the various file types mean, etc etc etc. I simply follow instructions to use them. What I have done: Manually installed the script extender and the 4gb patcher directly to the game. Then, instaled ModOrganizer and used it to install UIO and Yugichigai's Unnoficial Patches, and enabled player controls via the in game menu. Cons: After installing even only these couple mods, I began to notice certain bugs that I think are associated to modding, such as items floating in the air when they shouldbe lying on the ground, and radscorpions being stuck halfway int he dirt and glitching out instead of behaving normally. I didn't notice any of that before. Pros (important part!!!): Since installing these mods, I have played one session of 4-4.5 hours, and I noticed none of the problems with the UI that I had been having; so it seems to have worked for now, we shall see!!! Thank you all for the advices and pointing me in the right direction. Its been well over a year since I used any mods and without the suggestions and resources listed above I woulda missed a lot. Theres still much in dubiousintent's suggestions that I need to learn more thoroughly. Hopefully the game will keep working for now though, I basically just want at least one vanilla playthrough before I go crazy on it like I did on skyrim a few years back
  3. @ Munnibhai, Nothing is disabled, it simply wont let me click anything. I can still navigate among the three buttons on bottom of the PipBoy, but within those menus I cannot click a thing- I can mouse over them but it just won't register any mouse clicks. Same thing when I hit escape; I can mouse over the options, for example to save or quit the game-- but I cannot click anything I have to ctrl-alt-del to stop the program. I know my mouse is fine, but the stupid UI just stops working for some reason. I took a screenshot in game but when I attempt to attach it as a file to this post it says it is too big... so I'm linking a GYAZO snapshot of it. In that snapshot you see, I am unable to click anything whatsoever on the pipboy screen. https://gyazo.com/15a162fc4d8ab03f0201425e27677fc6 @ Dubious, thank you for all of that info, im getting into it now
  4. I am playing New Vegas for the first time ever. I currently have NO mods installed, its 100% vanilla. I've got about 42 hours in. At around 30 hours I started having a major bug that is having a very negative effect on gameplay. When I open the Pip Boy menu, a lot of times the user interface just won't work; I can open it but I'm unable to click anything or select anything in it. When this happens, I find that I also cannot save the game or even quit the game- at that point I just have to force the program to stop running, and then start again where I last saved. This is happening every 20 minutes or so, its very annoying. The entire user interface simply stops functioning properly. I am not ready at this point to mod the game heavily, but I would certainly like to fix this problem so I'm writing this message in hopes that someone here can point me in the right direction to get the essential bug fixes and script extenders and UI mods that a person needs to make the game work right. Thanks.
  5. I use Mod Manager. I have been playing Skyrim all day. I decided to make a new playthrough, so I created a new profile in Mod Manager, applied the desired mods, ran the patchers necessary (FNIS and Requiem)--- but now the SKSE will not open for my new profile. It says that my resolution is wrong and asks me to reset it. I tried every possible resolution, still it wont open. Furtermore, it still runs on my previous profile just fine. The mods I added were: Faction Vigilant of Stendarr Glorious Fort Dawnguard Is there something about these two mods that would make SKSE not work? All the other mods i have are ones that I have been using in previous playthroughs, including the one that is still working fine. Any clues please? Thank you- cwarren165 EDIT-- I solved this problem. It was a problem with the load order among my various Requiem patches. As usual I ran to ask for help before fully troubleshooting everything myself. Mea culpa. <3
  6. I got this figured out. Somewhere along the way in setting up PerMa and the merged and bashed patches for it, I had set MO to not prefer the FOMOD installer. This i did following some directions from the GamerPoets youtube channnels. Anyways once i set MO back to preferring the FOMOD installer I was able to reinnstall Requiem. Up and running :)
  7. A little while ago I played with Requiem some. Had no problems but I got tired of it, so I created a new profile in MO and played with PerMa some, again no problems. But I decided to go BACK to Requiem yet again. I created a new profile, reloaded all the mods I wanted. Everything looked fine, no missing masters, etc, all was in order. I was just about to do the Reqtificator, when I remembered that the first time I had played Requiem I instaled it with the "Vanilla shrines" option, and wanted to play with Requiem shrines this time, so I chose to reinstall it. When I did so, I got an error and the reinstall failed. I downloaded it again and tried to install it but again, same error, and the install fails. I'm trying not to have to start over from scratch but I cant install the thing. In fact, even though I just downloaded it, its not listed in the "mods" folder within the MO folder. Here is the error I keep getting when I try to install: "The element 'plugin' has invalid child element 'typeDescriptor'. List of possible elements expected: 'files, conditionFlags.'" I have no idea what this means. Can someone please help me get REquiem reinstalled once again so I can play without starting over from scratch  Thank you-
  8. Hello all. I was just wondering, how often does your modded Skyrim game CTD? After having some troubles getting certain aspects of PerMa to work corrrectly, I took Raulfin's advice and switched over from NMM to Mod Organizer. Spent a day watching tutorials, reading the MO help page, learning about the program etc. I finally got my setup up and running with 64 mods (a total of 86 plugins). One thing I noticed right away was that the console pane in Mod Organizer showed some errors. I scoured the STEP Project wiki on MO but didnt find anything about dealing with these errors on the console-- in fact the wiki said you may as well close the console and not view it. This led me to believe that perhaps these error reports were inconsequential and nothing to worry about, and since everything else in MO seemed in order I started playing. Played my new character to level 16 before I started having a few CTD's. Basically, in 15 straight hours of playing the game, I had 3 CTD's, all three within the last hour or hour and a half of playing, and all 3 in dungeons. So my question is: with a modded Skyrim, are some CTD's to be expected and just have to be dealt with? Or IS there a way to really get the game running perfectly all the time? And if so--- HOW can I learn how to do this? ^.^ Also--- what about those errors reported in the MO console? Is there something that can fix them? BEcause I dont see anything in the Wiki about dealing with them. Thanks all-- C
  9. Hi all. I am playing PerMa right now, and utilizing the smithing tree. One of the skills, armorer, allows you to reforge your crafted gear into better versions. I have taken this skill, but I cant see anything anywhere giving me the option to reforge it. At the workbench I get the regular old tempering option. At the forge, I dont see any way to utilize the armorer skill and actually reforge my gear. I dont *think* I'm overlooking anything--- I just cant figure out how to reforge my crafted gear and I'm hoping I didnt waste a perk! Because I also wanted to take the warforged perk, but I cant even figure out armorer, so I'm asking helpl here from anyone who has used smithing in PerMa and can hopefully help me out thank you
  10. i solved the problem when i realized that there was one mod that directly affects the ranged tree, and ONLY the ranged tree. once i uninstaled it everything was fine. the thing is that the two mods are supposed to be compatible... indeed the mod in question was MADE just for PerMa. but i can tell you they ARE NOT compatible. the mod is "Perkus Ranged Patch for PerMa and extended UI." it doesnt work.
  11. Now I am getting CTD's on startup and I dont know why. :(
  12. Hello everyone. I haven't played Skyrim in quite a while and decided to come back for another playthrough. I have been very excited, actually, and have spent a few days thinking of a good and immersive character concept that I like and would like to get lost in. However, I have run into a problem :( Since the last time I played Skyrim I had reset the OS on my PC, so I no longer had the game. I reinstalled it fresh, and begin to mod it according to my likes, using ALMOST only mods that I had used before, including PerMa. I installed everything, no problems. Corrected load order with LOOT. Following the suggestions given to me by LOOT, I used Tes5edit to clean "update.esm," "dawnguard.esm," "hearthfires.esm," "dragonborn.esm," "cloaks.esp," and "hunterborn.esp." Checked the status of everything in Wyre Bash and all appears in order. I ran the SkyProc Patcher with PerMA successfully, and without problems-- it patched perfectly and everything seemed in order. I have used Perma before-- the ONLY mods i added this time that I hadn't used before were "Mooonlight Tales," "Bloodmoon Rising," and "A Matter of Time"-- none of which I think should conflict with PerMa anyhow. Started the game with no problems, everything seems in order, everything seems awesome, and I'm getting ready for an exciting playthrough but i discivered one problem. The Ranged Weaponry (formerly Marksman) skill tree ISNT THERE. The place for it is there, but its just a blank spot in the sky, as the tree itself annd the skills along with it, simply do not show up. And you guessed it, i am playing a hunter type. I have no idea how to find out which mod is making this happen or what is wrong. I'm very much a modding noob, but im following the suggestions I've gotten from this forum and how to use the mods, and LOOT and Wrye Bash etc etc.... and from my end everything SEEMS to be in order--- but its not. If anyone can help me PLEASE do so :) Since the Perma Skyproc patcher ran successfully i surely thought all would be well but i dont know how to fix this. Here is my entire load order as as listed in Wrye Bash after running and applying the LOOT suggestions: Skyrim.esm Update.esm Unofficial Skyrim PAtch.esp Dawnguard.esm Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp HearthFires.esm Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp SkyUI.esp Extended UI.esp Convenient Horses.esp One With Nature DG+DB.esp Weapons and Armor Fixes_Remade.esp Weapons and Armor_TrueWeaponsLvlLists.esp Address Unknown.esp When Vampires Attack.esp AnonymousPeople.esp RealisticRoomRental-Basic.esp RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp RND_Dragonborn-Patch.esp RND_USKP-Patch.esp Better Vampires.esp CollegeofWinterholdImmersive.esp DarkbroSanctuary.esp DawnofSkyrim-AllMajorCities.esp BetterDarkBrotherhood.esp ArgonianOverhaul.esp Run For Your Lives.esp Cloaks.esp Hassildor.esp Immersive Patrols II.esp CWIDawnDragonPatch.esp AgentofRighteousMight.esp WoodsmansShack.esp Chesko_Frostfall.esp RND_Hearthfires-Patch.esp Hunterborn.esp Shadir.esp Hunterborn_Frostfall-Patch.esp Hunterborn_RND-Patch.esp MB_Cleric_v2.esp PerkusMaximus_Master.esp PerMa Expansion 1 - Wintermyst.esp PerMaDefluffedPerkDescriptions.esp PerkusMaximus_Warrior.esp PerkusMaximus_Mage.esp PerkusMaximus_Thief.esp PerMa_USKP Master Patch.esp PerkusRangedPatch.esp PerMa-Hunterborn.esp PerMa_Survivalism.esp Deadly Dragons.esp Agent of Righteous Might - Typo Fix.esp Disparity.esp Blades Light Armor Version 1 - v2.0.esp Brevi_MoonlightTales.esp GreenWaterFix_Compatible.esp AMatterOfTime.esp BloodmoonRising.esp RND_Dawnguard-Patch.esp Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp Bashed Patch, 0.esp ASIS-Dependency.esp PatchusMaximus.esp If anyone could help me find where the problem lies and fix it i would greatly appreciate it. 13. Thanks. I looked closer at the smithing abilities in PerMa and found longbows for each type which you can craft... and I have gone that route for now. My hunter is a person who likes to live independently and of the land, so for him, crafting his own weapons was a natural decision. But he imagines that there are those who would like to use long bows without having to craft them themselves :P
  14. In PerMa there is a Wayfarer perk called Harmony which works on animals and is basically just like the illusion spell. You have to have the Harmony perk, and the lore perk(s) for whichever animal(s). I'm using it on all the things I can, from Fox's and Deer to Bears and Wolves... have used it on dozens and dozens of them...but no leveling yet. I'll keep going though!
