  1. In response to post #126357858. #126425538, #126469788 are all replies on the same post. Fair enough, apologize about my wording above - I do know that things can tip the scales with performance - it's usually script mods but this mod has some options that might cause an issue perhaps - I used the static glow.
  2. In response to post #126357858. It's literally a 1.2 KB texture replacer from 2008 - and I use OpenMW 48 Release and this mod - it's not causing your stutter.
  3. Could MLOX ever be setup as an online web form utility where you could paste/load a mod list and have it run a load order and then output for download/copy to be used for manual ordering for non-Windows/OpenMW users? This would resolve issues that Linux and non-Windows users face and also users of OpenMW as well.
  4. That's amazing! I know this is exactly the fix needed for Rebirth's chargen boat, but I am less sure if if's needed in vanilla - I suspect it is - either way it's going to be in my mesh fix load order from now on. Thank you for taking the time to do this. :)
  5. I have had that problem before but only when I used the test character start and tried to load in that particular cell., otherwise it's something I don't run across. I am currently using the 48 released version of OpenMW and it has been rock solid - BUT load order matters so a botched mod load order could result in a variety of weirdness - falling through floors being one. Falling through world if logging a test character into Census Excise Office...
  6. This is the chargen boat - and yes it's from Morrowind Rebirth but I don't know if it's vanilla boat or not. It's also use in Fort Frostmoth Docks and has same issue. So the missing bit is actually separated and down in the water. This can easily be seen suspended underwater at the Frostmoth location but in Seyda Neen it's buried in underwater terrain and can't be spotted. So on the left, you see the space for the missing item, on the right, all is well. Missing item is offset at angle down below in water or buried in sea bottom. Surely this is a mesh but that's been addressed, right? Somewheree? Please give me a clue, Mod Detectives.
  7. I'm running Morrowind Rebirth now, so I dispensed with most of teh mesh fixes as many are already included. 8. Well, sorry for late reply - Nexus doesn't give me notice like it does on mod pages, weird. Since I posted this I have "taken the OpenMW pill: and must say I am amazed at how stable and performance friendly it runs the game on my potato pc. But the downside is that a lot my modding tools are not as useful - and on top of that I moved evicted a bloated Windows 10 install off my hardware and install a lean, green Linux Mint Linux. No regrets despite further limitations on mod management tools. (Delta-plugin appears to be doing a good job. but MLOX which I had started to use and like on Windows 10 - I can't get to work on Linux + OpenMW.) As for TES3Merge - it's lingering "old advice" that eclipses the new, current advice out there. Many modding guides - which I have stopped following still say to merge objects with TES3Merge - but do level list with another tool, etc. But, I came to the conclusion such advice was dated/wrong and started using Wrye Mash only for master ordering and cleaning. But there were other aspects I did find confusing and raise in order to pave the way for future player modders.
  9. Since my recent return to Morrowind after a decade or so, I notice that while modding capabilities have grown seemingly exponentially there's a layer of convolution that's hard to sift through. Many mods I now use require libraries, rather large libraries of objects, etc. I have no real clue what is contained in there or why after all the merged object/list patching is done I get one right hand glove of something but not the left hand glove at a merchant... It's those little kind of things - somewhat daunting to most players, I'd imagine. I recently had to solve the problem of NPC's added by Friends and Foes and Repopulated walking or sitting around with fishing spears or poles impaled through their stomachs. I "knew" it was weaponsheathing that was likely causing it - so I had to find which nif's to blacklist. Mission successful (thus far unless I missed some) ...
  10. So, during my recent and intensive return to Morrowind Modding, so much has changed in 20+ years, new and better ways have replaced the older ways, technology has given us miraculous improvements....etc. BUT I have discovered some discrepancies in what's to be considered "quasi-universal" best practice: Fixing Landscape ie. tears/seams in terrain: Terrain Fixes ( like this one and associated fixes ) The advice I decided to go with - don't use these - they create more problems/incompatibility than they resolve. The first guide I used when I returned to Morrowind advised me to install all 3 or so Terrain fixes (not all were easy to find!) BUT, Modders, who I have come to respect (quality of work and sheer experience) state that such massive fixes are bad news down the line. Cell Buffer, Interior/Exterior Morrowind.ini : Advice is all over the proverbial map here... Ultimately, on my potato PC, I zeroed out exterior and interior buffers - I'd rather have the RAM and my PC, potato that it is, can still deliver data up fast enough for game engine. DontThreadLoad and ThreadPriority Morrowind.ini : Again, varied advice, spanning decades with technology changing things up, etc. Through trial and many errors - I decided for my setup to keep DontThreadLoad = 0 and ThreadPriority = -1. (I have a small SSD where my Windows 10 is installed and the Game runs off a 16GB USB stick.) TES3Merge Wrye Mash, TES3CMD mashed multipatched objects, oh my! - et al : TES3Merge is a miraculous utility but many contradictory instructions are floating around - even on the mod's own GITHubWiki and Nexus Page - not counting the various guides floating around. Time changes things but old advice lingers on - how is a Cl3v3rP0tat0 supposed to figure this stuff out? What I am doing, my best guess: With TES3Merge I do not need any other patching for objects or level lists - so no more TES3cmd multipatch or Wrye Mash mashed...so far my Morrowind hasn't imploded. MLOX is hard, LOOT easy but terribad.: Most people agree with MLOX being the best - but it is a bit of a dumpster fire and might be challenging for some peeps to get up and running. Running MLOX without the right stuff is likely way worse than just letting MO2's Loot decide your load order. Those are all I got off the top at the moment, those little things that keep me up all night - until I just say "F*ck it!" and live dangerously. :geek: --- Therefore, since the world has still Much good, but much less good than ill, And while the sun and moon endure Luck's a chance, but trouble's sure, I'd face it as a wise man would, And train for ill and not for good. --- ~ Terence, This is Stupid Stuff Alfred Edward Housman 1859 – 1936
  11. OK, so there's quite a lot of mesh fixes and mesh improvement mods out there accrued over the many years - and then we have Project Atlas bestriding the Morrowind World offering us performance gains. (I use the Vanilla Atlas stuff myself) So, what's this about? I'd like to make a optimal load order list with respect to flexibility and optional/matters of taste but geared toward primarily for compatibility and performance. I use MO2 to organize my mods when it isn't trying to destroy load configuration by randomly resetting esp load orders (heh!) But mostly, installing, overlapping, prioritizing meshes is a pretty fluid process - but one with a more subjective guessing then I would prefer. For folks more informed on mod pedigrees and meshes - there is likely to be harder more concrete reasons to order this stuff. So, I present this list for discussion, criticism, modifications analysis to those such interested modder types. I would like to emphasize 1.) Ideally (some) Project Atlas compatibility, 2.) Performance over eye candy, fixes over eye candy 3.) Optimal ordering - because we can't have it all. Life is suffering, Princess. Also, hair, bodies, creatures, weapons, armor mesh stuff is outside the scope of this and arguably even somewhat more subjective. Here is a mostly UNSORTED list: Slartibartfast: Mesh Fix <----- classic, here for general purpose Tarius: Better Meshes plus Optimization <------ age discrimination determined priority Lord Berandas: MOAR Mesh Replacers <---- good base to build from? Petetehgoat: RopeFenceFix <-----yesh Darkfri: MOAR various patch and fixes <---- "some" Project Atlas compatibility, nice - also patches (replaces?) bastard ropefix Champion of Hircine: Telvanni Mesh Improvement <------ specific, but many conflicts Dwemer Mesh Improvement <----- don't know what Project Atlas makes of this one Resdayn Revival Team: RR - Better Meshes <------don't know, seems great, but I keep it lower priority than MOP MOP Team: Morrowind Optimization Patch <----- So important yet when do we overwrite? Remiros: Overlooked Meshes Replacer <----- based on MOP above. ZWolol: Corrected Meshes <----- don't know, I saw someone said after MOP Stuporstar: Properly Smoothed Meshes <-----this mesh modder actually gave some good instructions on load ordering, also mesh integration with Project Atlas Here be Project Atlas <-------- ? :geek: The idea of monkeys typing on typewriters is a thought experiment from probability theory that states that a million monkeys hammering a million typewriters will eventually write the entire works of Shakespeare1.
  12. Yes - a lot of UI Mods - my recommendations are: UI Expansion Continue Ultimate Icon Replacer Seph's Inventory Decorator Beauty Font for Morrowind Skyrim UI Complete They all work together and separately as well if you don't want all of them.
  13. Thank you, I'll check into that - never heard of it - but maybe it will contain a remedy. UPDATE: This will do nicely, much reduced spell textures compared to what I had. Thanks again, Dragon!
  14. So, I have my potato, a 180 dollar "All-in-One Walmart Windows 10 PC" from roughly 5 years ago, fully loaded up and running 200+ mods (it just works!) and all is well, and playable albeit from a USB Stick - BUT graphical Spell Effects really chop up my frames during fights. I need a way to return all effects to vanilla or lighter if possible - truly minimal -I'm not picky. I want to be able to tell a spell was cast but I need it to be very light weight. So, please if you have any ideas, solutions or suggestions - I'd be very interested. I thinking a replacer for all effects to downgrade them to vanilla or lower levels but I don't think such a mod exists - they all tend to go the flashier/heavy direction.
