  1. There is censorship on Nexus. But it is not the tag filter. I just wrote documentary and the u and m got censored. About the filters... They could help find what you are looking for faster, but I think tag checkboxes should be available when searching or browsing for files and not somewhere hidden deep into user settings.
  2. You can't move your character in free camera mode activated with the tfc command, or did I miss something? Controls will move the camera then and not the character.
  3. There are no files added to the hot files on the Oblivion Nexus anymore and now hot files are completely empty. I think this is since the split into Oblivion and Morrowind Nexus.
  4. Hello I have Chocolate Elves installed with original textures from that mod and noticed some weird shadows/highlights depending on the light situation on the face. It is around mouth edges and the nose, which are areas I changed during character creation with the face generator. I think this is related to head geometry and how the engine handles lighting. Self shadows are off. In order to remove these, what can I do? Work on textures? I would like to keep the head shape.
  5. Please, can you redirect links to tes.nexusmods.com and forward them to the new site? Or at least tell people ending up there where to go now. There are many links to mods on the net and they don't work anymore. All I get is a DNS error message.
  6. So this is why I find "updated" mods that have not seen an update for years? Mods should only considered being updated when there are new mod files.
  7. Wrye Bash can tell you how far your savegame is from being hit. There is a counter and when it reaches a certain value (which is defined as 100% in WB) you get the A-Bomb bug. It happended to me a few weeks ago.
  8. GPUs are designed to work in that temperature range. Mine does 85°C even at idle and is working fine for over two years now.
  9. I have a few screenshots uploaded to Oblivion mod galleries on tesnexus. Is it possible to link them to my imageshare gallery that they appear there too?
  10. This is normal. Your character will not freeze completely but show some hand movement and shaking when you stand still. You probably did not notice this before.
  11. I use pose mods. It works now. It seems that I have to load the game and then reload it again to make the pose apply.
  12. It works in first person view. Thanks. Now I try to make pictures of my player character which requires 3rd person view. I set up everything and when I restart the game all free cam settings will be reset to standard position behind the character. This does not work so I create a copy of my player character, place and pose it and use my actual player character as camera in first person view. Then I restart and make the shot. I guess I will not do many of these, the procedure is really complicated. There is one thing left, I need my character's copy to draw the sword. Is it possible with the console? If I let her attack something to draw it, then pose and freeze her with the console the pose will not apply when I restart the game and upon unfreezing to change the pose she will move and attack.
  13. Hello Everybody. You can set Oblivion to window mode and run it at almost any resolution you want by adjusting the iSize parameters in the .ini. With that, you can make huge screenshots, larger than your screen size, without a multi-screen setup. Now the problem is that you will only see that part of the game window that is on your screen, which will always be the upper left. This hides essential buttons and it is impossible to see what your screenshot will be. Is it possible to move the viewing area inside the game window?
  14. I think it is good storytelling and I like it how it is. Martin would otherwise be somewhat unimportant. And I received highest honours... For me it would not make a difference, but I did swing my sword upon his foot, anyway. Too bad i did not have a huge hammer :)
  15. I do not think the crash is caused by the oblivion configuration. This would cause glitches or crash the game, but not the entire PC. I know of drivers and hardware errors capable of doing this, and if it is a driver thing, it should happen on a regular basis when the driver is called, which would be at game start or when 3D graphics are initiated. If you can play longer with everything set to minimum, have you ever tried to max. everything out and add even more? Like setting uGridDistantTreeRange=35 and uGridDistantCount=35 in the oblivion.ini? Will it crash faster? The idea behind this is: With the above settings, QTP3 redimized (with reduced resolution) and RAEVWD mod (I did this for outdoor screenshots) I see major slowdowns even at lower settings when new landscape cells are being loaded. Oblivion then has to move a lot of data between RAM, CPU and graphics card. This also causes high load on the Northbridge since it controls memory transfers. If it crashes more often, your crashes are probably related to one of these components. Your RAM seems fine, you tested it. Same with the graphics card, because it also happens with the replacement card it should be something different. You can test your CPU with one of the programs used to test overclocking stability. Just refer to one of the guides on the net and run it at stock speed. Leaves the mainboard, where I have no idea how to do a proper test. Of course this is all speculation combined with some knowledge of PC architecture, there is no guarantee that it is the source of your system crashes.
  16. I have, it just does not work. The working shaders do not need to be in the shaderlist, but I can make no additional shader work by adding them to the list or by activating them with the configuration tool.
  17. Oblivion is limited to one core only, so the CPU is the bottleneck on every newer PC.
  18. I do not know of a test so you probably have to rule out all other possibilities, but you can see if it is a heat issue on one of its components. Open your case, take a fan (a spare fan or from the case) and temporarily attach it so that it blows on your mainboard's two heatsinks. This will need some improvised construction but it is just temporary for testing. Be careful that no cables can be stuck in the fan, that its blades cannot hit your hardware and that it cannot move around while running. Cable straps through the screw holes are excellent for this but you can use everything non-metal to fix it in place. Another way would be to place the fan on a box away from the case, secure it and have it blow in the heatsink's direction.
  19. Actually the newest rc from that google site doesn't work either as it should. Some shaders work for me but most won't do anything in my game. And the Ati HD4870 (and my 4850) should be able to run all 3.0 shaders.
  20. That is why women usually wear steel-plated bikinis in those games. Because it is more realistic ;) Seriously, it is a game, not a simulation. I play to have fun and this involves doing things that would not work or probably kill me in real life.
  21. Now all you need are dragons and you can go for LARP.
  22. I do not think it is the power supply. An old power supply failing to deliver the required power because of aged capacitors usually restarts the computer when it is under heavy load. It will do this with every game, not just Oblivion. If you haven't done before, try it with RAM timings to automatic setting. If this does not help, can you test the mainboard? It might be something with the graphics bus and the northbridge controlling it.
  23. Have you tested your CPU? Try to reduce its clock speed and see if Oblivion still crashes.
