  1. Bumping to say it would be awesome if I could figure out how to make all the armor variants in long war appear identical (ie tac vest uses tac armor model, kestrel aurora and phalanx use the carapace model...) If I could do that then I wouldn't even need the military texture pack to make me happy.
  2. Not really a Long War question as I couldn't find any information on the mechanics of covering fire in vanilla either, but I'm playing long war and still need the answer. At its most basic, does the target's cover count when shooting a covering fire shot? From the animation at least, it often shows the covering fire activating as the target has stepped out of cover. suppressing a target with the covering fire perk and the suppressed target takes a shot without moving, while in cover. What happens here? Does the suppresser get a shot in first, do they get -20 aim for reaction (as if it were a standard covering fire shot rather than a suppresion reaction shot), does the target get benefit of cover, and lastly, if the suppressor gets his covering fire shot first and the target survives, does the target still suffer the -30 aim from suppression? or is it the same as if the target had moved (eating the reaction shot) and then fired (thus avoiding the aim penalty).
  3. Losing is often fun. Losing in the air war, not so much. I'm on my first long war game, I'm playing it on normal which is apparently the easiest setting without cinematic mode. I'm taking the strategy I saw someone using in an impossible game, which was to get 6 inteceptors and mostly full sat coverage on one continent before expanding. I'm like a month and a half in and I now have 6 ceptors, and have been splashing scouts left and right, to the point that im now making sure to let NOE scouts land for more salvage as most of my ceptors have a kill secured. I haven't even built aircraft boosters yet, and I'm expecting for it to get a lot harder. Just gotta remember that its more important to account for how healthy your ceptors are when you decide to engage, and that not killing UFOs in the air is not only less bad than in vanilla, its often optimal.
  4. id help if i knew how. also get enemy within :laugh:, you'll probably have more luck finding mods anyway.
  5. The last pod of my base defense mission somehow resulted in a sectoid commander being outside the map boundaries. I can't see him or get LoS, but he his able to take overwatch shots at my soldiers and mind control them. Everyone else on the map is dead. I was able to do some damage with a rocket but I'm out of explosives. Is there a workaround short of modding? I was thinking if I could run some console commands I could force kill the last alien and continue my game but I don't know how to do that. I'm a new XCOM player, this is my first successful ironman classic run. Any pointers in resolving this are appreciated.
