  1. I played it clean and saved the log, hoping to compare. Then did the advanced hash check and had no issues this time. Then installed the armor tint mod. No issues. :ermm:
Any game-breaking issues I come across I'll get that info for you. Fingers crossed though

  2. I always play in Offline mode. How do I do the spoiler tag? I could paste some of my log

    I just noticed something.

    "[0157.53] ScriptWarning: Accessed None 'm_kDesc'
    XGGeoscape Command1.TheWorld:PersistentLevel.XGGeoscape_0
    Function XComStrategyGame.XGGeoscape:SkyrangerTakeMission:006C
[0157.53] ScriptWarning: Attempt to assign variable through None
    XGGeoscape Command1.TheWorld:PersistentLevel.XGGeoscape_0
    Function XComStrategyGame.XGGeoscape:SkyrangerTakeMission:0080"

Command1.... as in Command1.upk? Is that supposed to be advanced disable hash too? Because I only did Startup.upk

  3. Okay, so the "Advanced -> Disable hash..." is causing my game to freeze after missions when the skyranger flies back to base. It makes the game unplayable because I cannot get through the freeze. I restored all my files to get rid of the freeze because I did not know what was causing it. Later, right after Disabling the hash, it froze on the next mission again. Why would this happen?

  4. Oh sorry. How do I do the spoiler box?

Long post about not wanting to connect to steam and lose all my modifications

    Yes! That did it!

As readme says, "Disable hash check" option removes hash check for the three commonly used packages only. You need to use "Advanced -> Disable hash..." option to disable has check for startup.upk.

Thought I did that. Maybe it was another file. I don't know. But this worked. Thank you, sir!! :D

  5. Ok this is getting beyond frustrating. I cannot get anything to work to change the armor tints. I follow every single direction in all the read me files. I try to follow the wiki which returns no results because it uses different hex numbers so I cannot even find the correct area I need to edit. I've searched way too many random letters and numbers and I simply cannot find the area for EU!!!!! :wallbash:

Tried Patcher GUI. Tried UPK Decompressor. Tried HEX Editor. Tried Resource Hacker. Tried UE Explorer. Tried UModel. Hours and hours, days and days of just trying to change a few numbers that I know some of you could easily explain exactly how to do it. I'm not a complete moron. Really I'm not. But these wikis are in another language.

I try the mods written by wghost and rdngmikey. Everything says Success in PatcherGUI. In fact the log shows:

Writing backups to -\XCOM Enemy Unknown Modding\PatcherGUI/Backup/1424905944
    Startup.upk saved to backup dir
    Backup completed successfully

    Executing external PatchUPK program:
    "-\XCOM Enemy Unknown Modding\PatcherGUI/Binaries/PatchUPK.exe" "-\XCOM Enemy Unknown Modding\3.txt" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown/XComGame/CookedPCConsole"

    PatchUPK

(By the way this is a great, simple program to use, thank you). But you'd think successfully meant it would work. Five different mods, tried one at a time. None work. Game will not run. It immediately says Not Responding. I uninstall them and then the game loads fine. I've followed every single line in the Read Me file. Yes Disable Hash Check. Yes disable phoning home. Yes Enable ini loading. Yes the UPK is uncompressed. Yes I've done every single damn thing! Yes Steam is running offline.

Yes I have zero knowledge for modifying hex codes. But I've read through the same pages OVER and OVER and OVER. Please do not tell me to go read them.

All of it is starting to look the same. I've Decompressed, Unhashed, Deserialized, Patched. It's driving me insane. Why can no one just tell me exactly where the hex is. And in English please. No ANSI Hex container assets with primary and secondary tints in the deserialized palette with a reference code I have to figure out for the elements or property arrays...... just ENGLISH. Just "go straight here". None of that makes any sense to me. It tries to be explained in detail but it doesn't help at all when I cannot find the hex string to change!
Someone please please help me. Criticize me all you want that I cannot figure it out by myself. I'm just hoping one person can guide me. Because nothing is working!

  6. Ok yes found it thanks. I installed PatcehrGUI and I see the code you wrote. Umm how do i download a file for the PatcherGUI to read?

Am I supposed to copy/paste the code into a txt file and browse to that? There's no instructions on the wiki

  7. I've stared at the codes here and tweaked them for hours and hours. For whatever reason I am having zero luck making any successful changes. I just want Titan, Ghost, and Archangel armor available in 5, 6, and 7 Kevlar decos. I do not understand the combination of files that must be edited to get this. And I know it's a combination because I've done each one individually, I've even done some together with the same changes, and 5, 6, and 7 are just Kevlar. It's just not working and it's beyond frustrating! Please if someone can explain.

  8. I'd rather bump this than start a new thread...

    • Explosive kill generates fragments. This one is doable.

This. Can this be done? I saw that the explosives had their own "explosive" written under one of their... attributes. All the other objects said "none". But I figure this is too simple and can't be it....

  9. Hi I need some help please. I can't do this... I just want to change the armor tints. I've tried for hours and hours but the tutorial for changing the armor tints is for the Long War patch which I am not using, and therefore is a tutorial that doesn't help me at all because I do not know the offset for the hex... can anyone please please just either point me to a good tutorial for EU or explain clearly where armor tint #2 and #3, for example, are in the code? I tried hex editor- I can't find which area to change. I tried UE Explorer nothing is working correctly. I'm not able to view much at all.

Ideally I wish I could just modify the actual textures.... there are actual textures right? There has to be. Not everything was made through hex codes?? Example: the top right picture. That is a file buried somewhere right? http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/File:SPC_Texture_Channels.jpg

 This is really frustrating please help before I mess up my game.

  10. Hello. I am new to the XCom games and after spending many hours reading through various Wikis and forum posts, I'd like to ask for some guidance. I'm playing EU with no DLC content (there's no folder). I'm trying to figure out how to get two types of mods in my game that work with my saved games. The main thing I'm looking for is to be able to give my soldiers new armor, and most importantly new armor tints. Right now I cannot find a single option that gives them different armor (a helmet would be great), even with some armor researched and purchased and equipped...

I've read through long threads about changing certain files or changing the hex after decompressing stuff and using the PatcherGUI to install it. There's way too many numbers and I'm beyond confused. I have no idea what I'm doing here as far as scripting or hex code editing. And at this point I think I will mess up my game where I cannot play my saved missions. I can easily modify simple files in notepad but that's it.

I've changed it so XCom runs in offline mode. I've successfully added the main armor tints to my game but that's it.

I do not wish to install the Long War mod as it makes so many changes and I'm still learning the game on my first playthrough. An individual mod for EU that only affects the customization would be perfect...

I'm looking either for a 1. Simple mod that will give me more customization options for my officers, 2. Unlock the locked armors (I run into a brick wall here because instructions are to edit a file in the DLC folder and that does not exist for me), or 3. A simple DIY that will give me what I'm looking for and does not require the DLC (which I would get if it did run with my saved games which it does not).

Any guidance on this is greatly appreciated.

Secondly, I'm looking to increase my squad size. I've read about how this requires changing several files because of spawn point issues, etc.... Can anyone point me to a mod or a DIY specifically for this? It needs to work with my saved games and work with EU that has no DLC. Thank you

    Edit: buying Elite Soldier Pack
