I'm having quite the strange bug. I recently got the second perk of Demolition Expert, which is supposed to show you a throwing arc for where the grenade will go. When I'm outside in the general world, the perk works exactly as promised. However, when I'm inside a building (an actual cell, not just inside any building) the arc does not appear. Grenades still get thrown, but the arc stays hidden. Although I don't have anything that should affect it directly, I believe this is due to a mod rather than a bug with the game itself. This is my load order: http://pastebin.com/8Ehj1ny7

Thank you, for whatever reason I missed that when I first installed the mod (lesson for the kids: don't mod at 4 AM on a 24 hr binge) Redownloaded, and that quickly fixed the issue.

I'm finding myself with the inability to sprint. I've tried a couple troubleshooting methods, but I just can't figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas? http://imgur.com/a/IV45E Link to a pic of my mods and plugins.

Adding Categories to Smelting through Creation Kit

What mods do you have? Do you use NMM or MO? What is your hardware. There is a lot of information we need, aside from just "it CTD's"
-
Look up Gopher on youtube, he has an excellent video on beginners modding. As for starting MO in a separate folder, what exactly do you mean by can't launch? What happens? Because I've got my MO in a separate folder that isn't even in the Skyrim game folder, and have no issues.

Was Ulfric Stormcloak thinking that....
Archgaull replied to CaptainPatch's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I believe Hadvar says it. I distinctly remember seeing it from the Imperial perspective, since I've only played Stormcloaks once to see the story line. I'm fairly certain Hadvar says it directly after escaping from Helgen, if you pursue the Stormcloaks conversation lines. -
Boombro got me started on how to do this on my own via the Creation Kit, so I'm probably just going to create my own mod and publish it. I'm just working on adding all the different items now (and puzzling out the different numbers for Dwarven Ingots) as well as seeing if I can add categories to the Smelting menu.
-
So I'm working on my first mod, and I'm wondering one thing. Is it possible to add Categories to the Smelting menu via Skyrim Creation Kit (in Mod Organizer)? For example, when Smithing you can sort by Iron, Steel, Dwarven, etc. Is it possible to do this, but in the smelting menu? So if I want to smelt X amount of iron ingots, I go to the iron section, then choose how many I want?
-
That would be very helpful, I've got no experience in tweaking stuff like this, but everyone's got to learn somehow right?

Of course, you could totally never carry that much ore. Because, as well as know, it's completely impossible to not carry anything else in your inventory. There is absolutely no way the game gives you an option to organize your inventory in a way you see fit. Practically, it could make a huge difference. Say you don't smith anything, and just throw all your ores into some chest in your house and forget about them. A couple months, or even a year down the road, you decide to start smithing to boost your smithing level, but now you have 500+ ores from various mining, looting, rewards, etc. Would you rather press a button, select a quantity, and hit smith, or spam the activate button for every ore. Also, you really don't seem to know what cheating is.
-
My point though, I mean even just out of the beginning tutorial, if you hit Embershard Mine on the way to Whiterun you end up with 20+ iron ore, plus the ore you can mine just outside Riverwood. If you start smelting right away, it can be quite an annoyance. However, if you decide to save it for later, say to save it for Steel smelting, you can end up with 40+ iron ore from the Halted Stream Camp added to your existing inventory. Besides, ores are only 1 weight each, so theoretically it is possible to have 300 ore in your inventory at one time. That's not a crazy number to think of, if you decide to start smithing right away for the best armor.

I was surprised when I looked this up and didn't find anything about it (On it's own.) This idea doesn't seem radical to me, but I can't find a standalone mod that supports it, so I'll throw the idea out there. What about "fast" Skyrim smelting? In that, I mean smelting ore to ingots, but instead of having to spam the activate button to smelt 60+ ores, you merely click smelt, select how many you want to smelt at a single time, and then boom, you're done. This would be very similar to how you sell items, where you can choose to sell one at a time, or if you have more than a certain number, choose to sell all at once. Granted, maybe there is something of a similar nature in a overhaul mod, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for. I'm happy with Skyrim's crafting, just I feel like this would be a good addition to make smelting a lot easier.

Advice on upgrading to Win10 and Steam/Heavily modded Skyrim

If you're truly paranoid, unhook the SSD physically from the computer, do the wipe/install, then set it back up. -
Skyrim . . . Does Not Work. . . Windows 10?
Archgaull replied to JoezzaHawke's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Nope, ran right out of the gate. That includes both a modded version (58 mods active) and vanilla. -
Who is the Dragonborn's unidentified "friend".
Archgaull replied to LordSarcasm's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Exactly, she's already wanted, so why would it matter? I can understand her being wary of the notes being intercepted, but it's not like she's going to be more wanted by the Thalmor for the notes. -
I certainly can't wait for this, it looks amazing. I just started using the Creation Kit, so the amount of work you've put into this is terrifying to me haha.

I'm on a Windows 10 machine, having absolutely no problems whatsoever. -
Here's the problems with the mods you suggested: literally none of them apply to what I was talking about. What I was talking about is the fact that the MAIN questline for all of the guilds are sadly lacking. It makes no sense that a complete newbie can come in, spend 24 hours, and come out as the head of a guild. It makes even less sense if you can completely the guild questlines and become head of a guild with less than 40 in the skill (sneak for thieves guild etc). The mods you suggested are great for if you want side quests after the fact, but none of them tweak the main questline, which is where most of the issues come up IMO.

Oubliette is correct, the issues you have are stemming most likely from SkyUI, not SKSE. If you look at the FAQ for SkyUI, it mentions another mod called SkYUI-Away that keeps the MCM, which is what most people require SkyUI for, but gets rid of the look of SkyUI. Please note that I have no experience with SkyUI-Away, it is the author of SkyUI who mentioned it, at this link. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=429510726

It looks like something along the lines of what I want, but not hardcore enough. Probably gonna start learning to mod and give a crack at it myself. It's a big project, but not like I'm in a rush. Thank you for your help in suggesting that, though.
-
If it was me, I would change the questline. I feel like it's a combination of being too short in terms of game-time, and also just not being challenging from a skill perspective. I mean, you can become a Arch-Mage with only knowing the basic spells + lesser ward and firebolt, which is just ridiculous to me. It's the equivalent of someone becoming the chief economic adviser of a country, because they once used a coupon at the local convenience store.

So it wouldn't surprise me if this has been made before/someone has pitched the idea before, but does anyone else feel like the guilds/college of winterhold/dark brotherhood could use a overhaul? It struck me recently, I was playing Skyrim and just doing the different guilds with no real goal in mind, when, especially during the College Of Winterhold questline, I was struck by how easy they were. Not in terms of difficulty mind you, but just in terms of length/skills required. As I said, the College is a good example. The whole point is that you are a mage, and if you are the Archmage, then you are the best/most badass mage. However, aside from the very first interaction where you cast a spell with Faralda, the ward spell with Tolfdir, and casting a spell on the wall in Saarthal, you don't really need to cast spells. A warrior could very easily complete the College of Winterhold main questline, without putting any perks into magic/upgrading their magicka. However, just in general all of the guild questlines feel rushed/too easy. I never come out of the final quests feeling like I should be the head of the guild, or that I'm the best thief/warrior/assassin/mage out there, and just in general it breaks the immersion for me that you can effectively join a guild, be in it for maybe 24 in game hours, and be the leader of it when you come out. Any thoughts?

I'm reinstalling all my mods after having deleted Skyrim and not played in a while. I'm running Patchus Maximus via Mod Organizer, and it fails almost instantly. I run it, it goes through one process, and then gets to "Task: Scroll and Staff Creation..." and brings up a "java.lang.NullPointerException" error. I've read the threads and tried all the normal fixes, but even if I disable all my mods, it pulls up the error. Any thoughts?
