I honestly do not mind supporting or paying for some of my favorite mods. The problem is, putting things behind a pay wall before having a chance to test to see if we actually want to use them. I have had numerous mods that I thought I would enjoy but just were not what I was looking for. Am I going to be able to get a refund for things like that? My other concern is that mod authors are going to Steam Workshop to do this, an obviously inferior medium for modding. I would be willing to pay mod authors for the hard work they put in, but not through Steam where I have so much less control over how my mods are installed or function. If I am going to pay, I want to be able to use a proper mod manager for the content. The fact of it is, this has been a long time coming. For many modding is a passion, but everyone would like to earn money for the things they enjoy doing. We just need a better system here to support the quality modders. Steam gave it to them first, that is why you see so many rushing over to them. If a better system is given here, they will all come back. Seriously, stop with the hate. We all would do the same thing in their positions. They might do the same thing in ours. We are all human. We just need to calm down and work out a reasonable solution that gets the quality content back here where it belongs and the modders the support they have deserved for a long time.
